However, when I saw Dr. Chang, she could not find these 11 cavities :-) She commended me on my dental hygiene, and sent me on my way. These qualities are so hard to find in one dentist, and I honestly saw a string of not-so-great dentists before seeing her. This makes me appreciate her even more! I am a nurse and a soon-to-be dietitian, so I'm very selective about the healthcare providers I see. And I'm so grateful to have found Dr. Chang!

Now Dr. Greenbaum himself really makes sure you understand everything he is doing, he has this calm (almost fatherly) way of explaining what you need and what is going on - you just have to trust him! After talking to dentists in my family (my uncle is practicing and my brother-in-law will be soon), we determined that Deborah Tabb is simply trying to bill both the patient and insurance for as much as possible. In addition, she is smart enough to avoid damaging her ZocDoc rating. Her technique was to cancel the appointment I booked for her through the ZocDoc, and then affirm the appointment when I called in.

This was unexpected but I appreciated the level of transparency they want to share with their patients. Anna was also very helpful in gathering my records from a previous provider. I was taken care of in a timely manner and I really enjoyed how Pedro, the person performing my dental cleaning, was explaining every step of what he was doing and making sure I was comfortable throughout the process. The doctor that came to see me after my cleaning was done was also very nice and attentive. The facility is neat and accessible. Plenty of paid parking all around the building. Katie who used to be at front desk was great but gone now too. I am being charged $6k for round 2 of Invisalign after 20 years of dental work, my previous retainers no longer fit. Dr Tabb doesn't remeber this but she told me a couple of years before I got started on this round that it would be $4500 for Invisalign, not $6k. Quality overall good but twice I have had to come back for extra work when temp crown kept coming off and then "buttons" placed inside my mouth to hold the Invisalign trays wer so rough they greatly irritated the inside of my mouth and needed to be filed down to be tolerated. I do think they are expensive though, so now with Tabb retired I am tempted to check out other dentists in area, especially since my Kaiser Medicare plan includes Liberty Dental insurance. I have been a patient of Tabb for about 6 yeats now and I have needed extensive dental work, paying about $20k a year for the last few. Dental insurance covers so little it is almost a joke, and Tabb agreed but saif my Aetna was the best of them. $1500 a year for insurance reimbursements doesn't go very far.

Needless to say I was in agony all evening after leaving his office. The next morning, which was a Saturday, I decided to call North Bethesda dental and to my surprise, I was able to book an emergency appointment for Monday morning. I would still have to wait an additional day for relief but I was happy to not have to see anyone other than Dr. Kim. I arrived Monday morning at 9:45am and was immediately seen. It took no more than 10 minutes to identify the problem and come up with a solution. Turns out I needed a root canal.. and before I could run out the back door, Dr. Kim and his entire staff took turns assuring me that I would be fine, feel virtually no pain during the procedure, and walk away in much better shape than I came in. I cried the entire time in the chair, but not because I felt pain-- just out of fear. Dr. Kim was so compassionate... when the procedure was complete, I wanted to give him a big hug and thank him. Just as I was told, I didn't feel a thing during my procedure. I have been referring co workers to North Bethesda during the years but I now have business cards from the office to hand out during meetings. I have never been more pleased to have dental work done! And believe it or not, this is a condensed version of my visit... I just don't have enough time to tell it all.
