2 years closed. Millions of dollars spent. Finally played West Course since it reopened.... wow.. They neutered a once good track. Shortened the course by 600 yards. Killed the character and eliminated the charm. Whoever did the redesign should never be allowed to touch a golf course again... greens and bunkers are decent. Congrats. read more

Hard to disagree with many of the reviews I love the layout of both the east and west course The tee boxes are usually a mess, greens are ok. Fairways can be ok, I have seen them in great condition and I have seem them turn to hay. For the money as a county member a tee time on the weekend with cart will run over fifty dollars The starter is absolutely obnoxious The guys inside are nice enough They have a putting green, chipping green and full range. read more

Played the East course yesterday, it was a disgrace. The course was reconstructed last year and was in great shape this spring. The course superintendent should be fired. The fairways have been turned to dirt. The West course is under reconstruction currently, what's the point if the course management is not going to maintain it. read more

Just hope you hit the ball on the fairway because there is next to no shot you're gonna be able to play anything decent from anywhere off the fairway. Either super high grass or spotty grass and a lot of dirt, good luck! Place is fairly cheap when walked so that's the plus. read more

Poor course management. The fairways are predominantly dirt. If you are not a county member this course is not worth playing. Even at the county rate I don't believe this course is worth the cost. It was a holiday weekend when we played but a 2man scramble should not take 6 hours any day of the week or any time of the week. We kept getting backed up. Pretty golf course, and the fees are good too. There's 36 holes, but in reality its two courses built into one area. The "East" and the "West". The West I think is the easier golf course. It is more tucked away into the woods (not uncommon to see deer while looking for your ball in the rough). And there's lots of frogs near the water hazards. I actually had to hit my ball near one on the 16th hole. Thankfully it ran away before I took my shot. The East is the prettier course I feel. Sometimes though it can be a bit louder because you are closer to the New Jersey Turnpike, but yes, the par 3's are a lot better here. I had a membership here for two years, allowing me to play all the golf I wanted for $11, which was a really good deal. The people here are really nice and and the driving range is well maintained. The snack bar is also reasonably priced, as is the restaurant inside if you choose to go here on a Saturday to get your 9 or 18 holes in. For a local golf course, it is fun and enjoyable. Tara Greens is probably second, but I certainly like this facility very much. read more

The East has the nicer par 3s, but West is far and away the better golf course. Holes 3, 5, 6, 13, 14, 15, 17 and 18 are bold memorable tests, regardless of the course conditions. Been playing here since 1992, and I've met some really nice people (except for that one guy). I enjoy this facility. read more

Get rid of the west. Worst maintained course I've maybe ever seen. The played East a couple times this summer and it was fine. Played west yesterday and it was embarrassing. Even for the rate of $30 for 18 I still think that's to much. No starter to be found to control the flow. Pace of play was well over 4.5 hours. In a pinch, the East course is acceptable.. otherwise.. look elsewhere. read more

I liked the experience better when it was run by the county. While I do see the course improvements the greens are still slow and the fairways are really disappointing. The biggest deal breaker for me was the staff. The people mowing make you wait until after they are finished whatever they are cutting - I literally had to wait 3 minutes for the guy to finish his cut. Also the new staff there is a bunch of young kids who don't seem to know what they are doing. The starter started harassing me about how I should have come to see him before teeing off even though he was not at his post and told me "I should have known to go to someone in a blue shirt". In short they are trying to make improvements but I didn't have a good experience the last two times I went. read more

I came here to play for the first time at this course in ten years. I used to play here regularly and generally the course was in good shape The course is now managed by Billy Casper golf. In the times of precaution, none of the help wore masks and I got a wisecrack when I asked if my cart was sanitized. There are young kids staffed and very poorly managed. Now, the course is so poorly maintained that almost every approach was hardpan. The greens were riveted with ball marks. It's obvious that Billy Casper Golf is in it for the buck. Simply put, the course sucks. Don't play here if you can avoid it. read more

Played the East course, it was the worst course I have ever played. Tee boxes in poor condition, fairways are either all crabgrass or a combination of crabgrass and mud. The greens are a complete disgrace. Tons on bare patches on the green AND aprons. Impossible to putt as ball hops, skips and jumps all over the place. Also, grounds were airated so there are thousands of little holes in all fairways to go with the bare patches and weeds. The roughs were over grown and lost many golf balls. Course is a joke and they have a lot of nerve to charge you full price to play on that garbage! Stay away, there are a lot of way better courses to play! read more

2020 a new year, you have to give credit when credit is due. The updates that were made on the courses is making a big difference. (Especially the WEST course) ZAK and the staff are doing a GREAT job maintaining the courses. They are really trying to make the greens faster, the fairways look and feel great. The range looks good. The course is just an average public course with only positive things the most greens were fast and rolling nicely and definitely above average in maintenance. Rest if the course is below par in maintenance. My worst experience is with the Rental Clubs. I am from VA and recently went with my brother to enjoy a golfing round and had to rent clubs. So I being a lefty had to rent a left handed mens club set. I was shocked to see what I was given for $20/- for the rental. NO Driver, Two junkie 3 woods, one absolutely useless #3 hybrid. Two 5 irons one hybrid and other regular. And irons 6-pw, Two other wedges and one putter may be 100 years old. The bag was the best and more functional among the complete set. These were definitely 40 or more years old. Dirty, rusty, scratches and even metal peeled all over the heads. All these clubs, you can easily say, that some one must thrown them in some drain or pond or even in the junk yards and these guys at Tamarack golf course have picked them up from there. In all there were like 5 or 6 different brands in the set. I am amazed they are charging $20/- for those clubs. I will never even give / share these clubs with my worst enemies. Shame on you Tamarack ! Just Worst experience and golf club service. I am never going to play at your courses again. If you play here NEVER RENT Clubs. They are not worth it. read more

Over crowded course with asians who think they take 5 minutes to line up a shot will make them better. Clubhouse workers are slow and dont care about customer service. I once arrived 45 minutes before my tee time to find out there credit card machines were down. No problem i drove to what the worker in the clubhouse said was the nearest ATM machine which was about 20 minutes away. Once back to the clubhouse had a line of 5 people in front of me which I had to wait on. Finally after paying in cash i go out to the starter about 15 minutes after my tee time, who proceeds to yell and curse at me for being late!!! I gave it right back to that loser and and put that A hole in his place. As for the course condition itself is laughable. Giant dirt spots in the middle of greens, and dirt and mud spots through out the fairway. Not sure where the green fees are going because up keep of the course is not a priority. Overall terrible terrible place all around. Yelp needs to have it possible for 0 star reviews. read more

Avoid the driving range here. Very poorly run. I've seen them close the range because they ran out of golf balls and were too lazy to have someone go and collect the hit balls. Always running out of baskets as well. The employees in the pro shop do not wear masks, even though there's a sign posted outside requiring everyone to wear masks inside. I've seen the employees not wear masks on multiple occasions. Avoid this place. read more

Do not golf here!! Poorly ran course with awful management. Booked a tee time for 12:36 & paid for two carts well in advance. Showed up to find out that they overbooked by several hundred people and have no carts available. We were asked to wait 2+ hours to go out. Management controls the tee times as well as knowledge of what carts they have available. There is no excuse for overbooking, especially during times of COVID-19. Such a ridiculous show of trying to make money!! read more

JESUS, MARY, AND JOSEPH!!! What a TERRIBLE place to spend a beautiful Thursday afternoon playing GOLF. To set the scene for our series of misfortunes, my brother and I reserved teetime for 1:15p on June 24th, 2021. We arrived at the first hole and to our GREAT SURPRISE, golf balls were not even included in our two sets of rental equipment. There was no indication ANYWHERE that we had to purchase them separately and no one working the course mentioned ANYTHING. It took me about 5 minutes to go back and forth to get some balls and by the time I returned, the NEXT PEOPLE IN LINE WERE READY TO GO. We discovered, again to our GREAT SURPRISE, that teetimes are scheduled at 15 MINUTE INTERVALS. 15 MINUTES. Here we are - thinking we are going to enjoy a calm 18 hole game of golf, only to have our buttcheeks held uncomfortably close to the flame of an impatient queue of other golfers! To make matters WORSE - the MAP provided by the course workers WAS INCORRECTLY DRAWN. We spent another 10 MINUTES trying to figure out why the map showed the second hole in literally the OPPOSITE DIRECTION of what the starting point indicators showed on the ground! By that time, there were 2 other parties impatiently, and rightfully so, waiting right behind us! In the end, we just left after the first hole - it was far more a STRESSFUL experience than a fun one. Too bad we weren't even refunded the $60 we could have used to pay for the Korean food we drowned our sorrows in afterwards. Perhaps we could have put that money to even better use to pay for the LYME'S DISEASE tests we'll have to now get, since BOTH MY BROTHER AND I DISCOVERED TICKS ON OUR GROINS RIGHT AFTER RETURNING HOME THAT DAY. Needless to say, we will NEVER return to this course. NEVER!!! read more

This course was always average and has gone downhill recently.played this course many times,the course is poorly maintained year round. I play in summer the greens have large dirt spots( I have never seen that on any other course) and many plants and shrubs are overgrown so if your ball goes a foot out of bounds goodbye forever.In the fall leaves are just everywhere.There are many other courses in the area in better shape-However, if you do play during the week this place has the lowest rates I've seen anywhere in the area (So I guess you get what you pay for) read more

Have played regularly at Tamarack and spent plenty of $$ on greens fees and all else there. Was treated like crap by a known employee there on Saturday that walked right by me when my bag and cart hit a bump and went flying right in front of him and he just walked on past me. Employee (R) walked over just after I picked up my clubs, bag and cart and he said to me, (he) "didn't think I needed any help and I got enough free stuff at the course already." Hugely disappointing, insulting and offensive. Completely antithetical to the spirit of golf as a gentlemen's game as well. Terrible way to start a round of golf, in addition to paying $33 to play 18 and $11 for a cart ( 9 hole rate, I walked the front nine). I will be looking at other courses and spending less time and money at this county course which has become more expensive but still lacks in quality, particularly the greens on both courses. Played the East course on 8/18/13. Check-in: slow, slow, slow Clubhouse: overpriced $9 beers, didn't try any food but I heard the gyros are good Tee boxes: generally decent Fairways: generally OK but some in pretty bad shape with plenty of dead spots Rough: thick/challenging which is good considering the fairways are pretty wide Bunkers: pretty good, soft sand Greens: overall terrible, horribly kept, some with sprinkler heads sticking out, others with huge patches of dead grass, others with big holes from recent aeration Pace: decent for a Sunday late AM round but I'm sure only because there weren't that many groups out there... perfect weather other than slight drizzle towards the end of the day goes to show you that this is just not that desirable a place to play I can't say that it is of good value, even if a weekend morning round costs me only $28 as a registered county resident, because the overall conditions are very poor. I'll play a few more times to make my annual fee worth it and to try the West course.. and the gyros. read more

October, 2014. Tamarack National Golf and Country Club is in great shape. Well, not really but what do you expect for $20 bucks- Augusta National? Get real! Seriously, folks- for $20 this is the best golf value around. The asians play the west course, everybody else plays the east. It isn't a rule it just works out that way. The greens are in good shape and all holes have flags in the cups. Tee boxes have grass in most spots. The driving range is OK except that the tees are about 6" high and it closes as soon as we get 4 drops of rain. The restaurant is great, except that there's no food available. read more

course is in terrible condition, ironically the maintenance guy with a 5-8 year child running through the fairway was quite rude when letting him know how dangerous it is having a child in the fairway 100 yards off the tee box, i was told "worry about your own f**king game" from said maintenance guy. starter and other staff were friendly but due to how poor the course is kept and the extremely unprofessional maintenance i dealt will not be coming back. better off spending money at a course that at least tries to make improvements. read more

I came here with a few of my buddies on a day where it was raining on and off and I had a good time. Never had to wait for any holes and since we were a foursome, we let a couple single players play through us. Conditions weren't idea because of the rain but it was a decent course and I'm curious to play on the west side, the next time that I come. read more

For a county course, it's just okay. Tee boxes are usually poor, fair is usually below average and greens are usually below average. Have there been days when the course was in great shape--of course, but it is not often. Customer service is awful--incredibly rude and unwelcoming staff. If it weren't so close to my home, I would not play here nor would I recommend playing here to anyone. Do not go out of your way to play here. read more
