My nail technician was Toan and I can honestly say it's the best experience I've had at a salon. He took his time but also moved at an experienced pace, made sure to check with me on what I liked and disliked and even encouraged me trying a ballerina tip style to start so I can transition to a stiletto shape next time if desired. I had a pleasant first experience here! I came at 5:30pm as a walk-in and surprisingly, despite already having a lot of customers, someone was available to help me out right away. I got a dip manicure and am pleased with the results. My nail technician was detail-oriented and cared for my nails well, still fixing little things all the way to the end. I appreciate how my dip does not feel thick. In total she did three layers, but it doesn't look or feel like three layers, which I like because my nails look and feel more natural. The dip manicure costed $40. The price is okay; I've been to another salon in Gainesville that does a good job, too, and is cheaper, but I can't complain too much over Tami's price since I had such a positive first experience. Tami Nails also has a huge selection of dip and gel colors--I was impressed! After flipping back and forth between multiple pages, I chose a light green/pistachio color (043). The color ended up looking lighter on me than on the sample but I actually really like the final result! If you want to get your nails done with friends or family, come to Tami where it's well-staffed. However, if you have a party of two or more, still call to make an appointment, especially if you plan on coming in the late afternoon. The only reason I can give this salon 3 stars is because Timothy is GREAT! I give him a 10/5 stars! He listens to what I want and then does it! He's the best acrylic and dip polish nail tech I've ever had, and I've tried a LOT of nail techs in Gainesville. If you're looking for a natural look, he nails it. He is known in the salon for taking his TIME and making your nails beautiful. However, it's too bad he works here, because the owner is always rude. She answers the phone rudely, and I had my nails done by her one time and I will NEVER get them done by her again. When I asked for something, she came back with rude remarks. The pedicure was amazing, and well worth the price. It included a nice massage (that lasted quite a while), a sugar scrub, and hot towels. The employees did not act rushed even though they were busy. My girlfriend highly recommended this nail salon to me. Since moving to Gainesville I have had trouble finding a clean salon with quality nail service. The last salon I went to was so horrible. The person doing my nails was digging his own fingernails into me to scrap off the nail polish he kept accidentally getting on my skin. That last experience quite literally left me scarred. I am so grateful to have tried Tami's nail salon which will me my new nail spot in Gainesville. Melody, my nail girl, was great! I got a gel manicure and a pedicure and was super satisfied with the results. The place seemed to be clean. The only thing I didn't see was her removing the tools from a sealed sanitized bag. I saw her spray some solution on them when she was done so I am hoping there is more to the cleaning process than just that? They did have individual, disposable plastic bags for the pedicure tub which is an absolute must for me. I went on a Saturday and they were pretty busy but they took me in quick. One of the nail technicians made a black customer pay BEFORE her services, stating that "people like her" had ran out without paying. I had already previously written a good review but they provided such good customer service for me yesterday, I had to come back and write another one. I got a dip manicure yesterday and the guy who did them stayed an HOUR PAST CLOSING to finish my nails. I was the last customer there. I had on awful acrylic previously from another salon and they didn't even charge me to take it off. It was a lengthy process too. The guy was so incredibly sweet and very detailed. I would also like to add that my coworker got her nails done with me back in November and she was sick. One of the staff offered her cough drops and was so caring. Not sure of the person's name but a man did my nails so that narrows it down a bit. I walked in around 1:45 pm and since they have tons of workers, he was able to do my nails immediately. Every other place I've gone to get my nails done before has cut up my hands, made me bleed and made my hands ache for a week after. Not here, he was very gentle while maintaining efficiency. This salon is one of the worst I've ever been too. I called ahead and they were vague about timing and pricing. They didn't answer any of my questions and just pushed and pushed me to go in. I went in and they had horrible customer service I picked my color and sat down. I mentioned to the lady that I had a small paper cut on my index finger that was almost healed up and just asked her to be careful. The lady next to her said that I couldn't have my nails done if I had any open cuts. I told her that I'd had acrylics done many times with cuts before and it's never been an issue but they refused to do my nails and practically pushed me out of the store. This was the second place I tried in Gainesville, and I was so happy with it that I ended my search. For starters the pedicures here are the BEST (at least the best I've ever had)! The chairs are nice and comfy and have message features. They also use this foot/leg mask that smells like peppermint and wrap your feet and legs in a warm towel. It's so relaxing! I also get my gel acrylic fill here. The first time I went in my nails were a wreck. The guy took the time to clip away all the loose and broken parts, which was unlike the first nail salon I tried in Gainesville. Both of the guys that do fills are really nice and personable. I also like the machines they have for drying the polish. Practically everyone that works in the salon is really nice. New to Gainesville decided to try tami nails ...the first time I went and my nails popped off in 3 days but I was like whatever... this time I go and get my nails done and the lady did not ask how long I wanted them before she started cutting , that being said she cut my nails too short I said " no I wanted them long " so she cut the rest of the nails long but left the ones she had already done short . Then she proceeded and I noticed my nails were different lengths she said no they're not that's just your fingers and kept going, then when going the nail art she messed up and neglected to fix it because she would have to " repaint the whole nail" and to make it better my rhinestones are already coming off after one day (you can see all of this in the pictures) and when I complained and said just take the nails off and give me a refund , the lady said "well how will we get our money?" They do an alright job but it's kind of rushed. Whenever I come, I always get the same thing, a gel manicure and gel pedicure. For SOME reason they always feel the need to verify and tell me 3 times that what I want to get costs more, as if to make sure I can pay for it. It's insulting, embarrassing, and irritating. I go here to get my natural nails done with dip powder and I get an occasional pedicure. My last experience was very displeasing. They were extremely busy and I'm not sure if this is why the quality of my dip powder manicure is how it is. Within 1 or 2 days of getting it done I have at least four or five nails with vertical cracks and lifting on the sides. I went in yesterday and had one of the more severe nails fixed but they seemed unwilling to help me match the previous color and left me to figure out which color have been previously used. Now I'm running around with a slightly different colored nail and a weird yellow residue around the bed of the nail, I guess because the color is orange, but you would think a nail tech would clean that up for a person because it looks weird.. No hand massage given for a $45 nail service is pretty disappointing too. She didn't even put cuticle oil on my cuticles. I left there spending $70 (before tip!) of my hard-earned money and I am not satisfied at all with the quality or the unwillingness of assisting me match the previous dip powder color. I would honestly appreciate a refund for the dip powder "service" so that I can go somewhere where it doesn't feel like I'm a burden to the employees. There's ALWAYS a wait and whenever I walk in I have to get the employee's attention and say hello first... It's not the biggest deal in the world but being friendly in a service industry goes a long way in making a person comfortable being there. I've noticed that when customers walk in that appear nicely dressed and are middle-aged white women or college-aged girls pulling up in Daddy's BMW they are overly friendly and seemed much more willing to help. Why can't I find a decent nail salon in Gainesville?! This place seemed great the first itme I went but that's where it ends. I've been back twice more and both times they were so busy that the guy that did my nails (same guy all three times) caught me with the drill REPEATEDLY. What? I've been getting my nails done off and on for 15 years and I've never had that happen over and over. I went home with some dried blood and a sore cuticle area. My nails weren't dried in the uv lamp because thay were too busy and after 25 minutes in front of the fan (being ignored) I got up to leave. 1.5 hours later (no joke) my nails were still tacky and getting dings. This usually means they weren't dried properly between coats. My nails also are coming up, which rarely happens unless a crappy job was done. They didn't check to see if anything needs to be glued before doing them (that's how you get nail fungus ladies). My ring fingers are obviouly different lenghts.... Yeah. Won't be back. read more
