Ten stars for Jayson! I chipped one nail, and I came in today for a repair. Upon arrival I was neither greeted nor welcome by the receptionist. After signing in I was told to wash my hands. Because this request was not made on Sunday, I inquired about the request, to which the receptionist responded; "You must not have been here when I was here, because I ask everyone to do it. Go wash your hands." I obliged, because I was here for Jayson, but this unprofessional response didn't sit right with me. As I had my nails repaired, two customers walked in. The first came for brows and the second was instructed to sit at her tech's nail desk. Neither were asked to wash their hands. They were, however, greeted and invited to sit and wait. Upon my exit, I inquired about the distinction in request and the receptionist became visibly indignant--a sentiment manifested in her raised voice and defensive tone. It is worth mentioning that she took no moment to reflect or adjust after I asked her why she was yelling. Instead, she kept yelling "You are wrong." I asked to speak with a manager/owner and she refused my request yelling: "I am not giving you that, and demanded that I leave. I want to highlight that I never raised my voice or did anything besides ask 2 questions. So being asked to leave (when I was already leaving), was a poor attempt at a power play by someone disarmed when confronted about their ill intentions. For the record, I do think having customers wash their hands prior to receiving services is a sanitary and germane request. This request, however, should be extended to all customers, not just the ones with a natural tan. However, given the trajectory of the encounter, my initial detection of prejudice was spot on... As much as I enjoyed my services from Jayson, I will not pay to be disrespected by a racist receptionist.

We arrived at 10 am and there were already 8 people sitting down. 2 of our party was taken after a 5 minute wait and the rest were made to wait 40 MINUTES! When I asked the front desk after 20 minutes how much longer she told me that I had no technicians reserved for me, even though i made a reservation for 5 people. Then one of the staff told me people called out today. The manager did absolutely nothing to intervene and I was ignored by the front desk worker. Upon checkout they fought over giving gel to one person when no one else got gel, a $5 upgrade. Absolutely no compensation was offered for our wait. They don't know how to organize, schedule or communicate!

I got a dip manicure and am pleased with the results. My nail technician was detail-oriented and cared for my nails well, still fixing little things all the way to the end. I appreciate how my dip does not feel thick. In total she did three layers, but it doesn't look or feel like three layers, which I like because my nails look and feel more natural. The dip manicure costed $40. The price is okay; I've been to another salon in Gainesville that does a good job, too, and is cheaper, but I can't complain too much over Tami's price since I had such a positive first experience. Tami Nails also has a huge selection of dip and gel colors--I was impressed! After flipping back and forth between multiple pages, I chose a light green/pistachio color (043). The color ended up looking lighter on me than on the sample but I actually really like the final result! If you want to get your nails done with friends or family, come to Tami where it's well-staffed. However, if you have a party of two or more, still call to make an appointment, especially if you plan on coming in the late afternoon.
