Had an 11:00am procedure. Was seen exactly on time. Prep went well. Doctor did a great job doing what she had to do. I got dressed, then exited! Checked with the administrator staff to verify everything was fine then left. I see the good doctor in a week. So, you can't get any better than that! read more

I had what I thought was UTI, I had such excruciating pain, the same pain I had delivering a 8 lbs baby when I was and am still only 102 lbs. The pain was so intense I had to sit on the toilet for 1 hour as the urge did not quit, what got me worried was the pain felt like an electrical current zigzagging thru my belly and traveled up to cause severe chest pain, I then thought I was having a heart attack and could drop dead. I called Dr Tammy Ho hoping she would squeeze me in as what I had was a clear emergency that could land me in the morgue. Both my parents died of a heart attack, so did my eldest sister at 28yo in the heart of Paris unattended by the uncaring government doctors. I begged but got nowhere, the earliest was today, 3,4 weeks after the attack, I must say I had the same condition 2 weeks later. When I was working I was working the urology ward so I know a bit about my condition. I managed to see my primary care NP, I normally never go to an NP but what I needed was a urine culture to rule out infection, it was indeed negative and got me worried as what could it be, a bladder condition, cancer or what? I again begged to no avail, Dr Ho is the only urologist in HB that treats both men and women. I have treated myself for most condition and had contained the pain. I read all the reviews and most are against the office staff, unfortunately they were true, I saw too many ladies yapping and laughing and I remember waiting for looping messages for a long time before I get an answer, that said, I have no issue, my excellent insurance pays for everything, as for the complaints against Dr Ho, I can tell you most are misunderstandings. I am multicultural and have family in Paris, Germany, Dr Ho is most likely American born but she probably grew up w Chinese culture. Most Americans I worked with just say "hello, how ya doing" then walked away wo waiting for me to answer back, again it's cultural then the back slapping, Asians in general do not do that and were misunderstood as unfriendly or even have bad patient/bedside manners, I can assure you that is not the case w Dr Ho, she is just a normal Doctor, she did not talk down, that was horrible all the accusations. My own brother in Paris, I only see him every few years and I never could stand from him and other relatives, even his friends, the French always kiss you on your face, I hate the ritual, it usually took 20 minutes to kiss each other good bye, many had halitosis! I'm westernized but for me I did not like it bc it's not sanitary, Covid gave me the excuse to stop that habit, FINALLY MY LAST VISIT, NO MORE WET KISSES ALL OVER THE FACE!! LOL! I was married to an Italian, same thing, a lot of huggings, so it's cultural, anybody reading this, PL do not accuse Dr Ho of not being polite. I waited nor more than 12 minutes so I'm not sure why all the complaints about 45 minutes to an hour wait? Maybe I was lucky. She said nobody had chest issues from the symptoms of an UTI wo an infection, she had no idea what it could be either but she gave me an order for an ultrasound and Xray to RO bladder issues and she would take it from there. I'm going to a 3 weeks vacation, I usually take all kinds of meds w me so I'm not worried, the ship charged an arm and a leg for Aspirin, OTC meds so I don't need them. We have such a shortage of doctors, we must thank our daddy, he will throw all the migrants off free health care (medical) so we won't have to wait months to see a specialist. I feel sorry for the people who suffer waiting for care. Be confident she is a good doctor, she said if I have the same problem again, I will definitely be seen sooner if not right when it happens. read more

Definitely yes, my daughter had an appointment at 2:4 0 p.m. and we didn't arrive until 3:15 p.m. due to car trouble. We didn't have to change reschedule, they took us in shortly after we arrived The doctor was very kind. It was our first visit and I felt like we had been there before as we felt welcomed. The nurse changed my daughter's catheter and was very professional and knowledgeable. read more

I originally wanted to see the other doctor in this office, but she was not available so I saw a Dr. Ho. I was very disturbed when I went in for a procedure and they had me in the stirrups for about five minutes before the doctor came in. Five minutes doesn't sound like long but when you're in stirrups, it is. I didn't feel that she was very compassionate or empathetic to my Pain. The other issue I had was with the billing department. I wrote a check for $25 for a co-pay. Apparently their bank tried to cash my check for $2500 but luckily I didn't have that kind of money in my account and so it bounced. They called me to tell me I owe them a fee for the bounced check but when I explain the situation to them, they didn't believe me. I had to have my bank Call them to explain it to them. Now I will not go back to this office for any of the doctors because of my experience with this facility read more

Well, I should've listened to the other one and two star reviews. Because they were right. I saw Dr. Ho for ongoing kidney stones and kidney pain. I waited a long time to be seen, and when I was seen for the initial consultation it felt very rushed and I didn't get all my questions answered. Dr. Ho put in an order for me to have an ultrasound and Xray to check for more stones. When I checked out, the lady at the check-out desk gave me the order slip for the labs. I asked her- "do I need authorization for these from my insurance?" She said, no. I said, "Are you SURE, because I literally need authorization just to breathe with my insurance." And she said she was 100% certain I did not. So I made an appointment with the imaging center on a Saturday. I fasted for hours. Drank a bucket of water without peeing so that my bladder would be full for the exam, as directed. Drove 35 minutes to this appointment. Only to be told that YES, I sure did need an authorization. I had to reschedule. Complete waste of time. Yes, I should have done my due diligence and made sure that I didn't need an authorization but she told me that she was 100% sure that I didn't. She should've just said she wasn't sure. So I call the office back. They again say I don't need an authorization and after a bunch of back and forth, I finally get it. So I get the labs. Then the appointment with Dr. Ho to read the labs is months out. That's the soonest she can see me via telephone for a 5 minute conversation. So after waiting months, I adjust my work schedule and cancel a patient myself to be able to meet with Dr. Ho. During my workday, the same day of the appointment, they changed the time of my appointment. I was with patients all day myself so I didn't see the notification that they adjusted the time so I log on to meet with her at the time that I confirmed and I have a message from Dr. Ho saying that I missed my appointment time. I was FURIOUS. And she refused to just give me a 5 minute phone call or email to answer my question about my labs. So I had to reschedule the appointment that they messed up. I finally get her on the phone after all this time and she's pretty dismissive and says she sees my kidney stones but she can't help me, doesn't know why I'm in pain and to call my regular doctor. I told her I want to get to the bottom of WHY I'm getting these stones so often. She says okay fine, she'll order some tests. She never did. Then it was Christmas and now we finally got new insurance so I can go to a urologist who has better patient care, communication, and follow-up. read more

Dr. Ho was direct, listened to my issues, had a plan and treatment. Surprisingly, it appears to be an old issue discovered by Dr. Ho because she listened and asked the right questions. All the doctors I've seen since I've had this issue did not come up with the potential diagnosis. Dr. Ho gave me hope this could improve. read more

0 stars. Not worth the wait: After making an appointment months in advance and then waiting nearly 2 hours in the office to be seen by Dr. Ho, she spends 2-3 minutes chatting with me. Limited technical expertise and generic responses: Upon entering the room, she asks me the same questions that were provided in the questionnaire, tells me to read some documents that she's going to print out, and prescribes some medication. When asked about the dosage, she says to just keep taking the medication, and I can keep refilling as needed....Artificial Intelligence (AI) could've provided the same generic response for free and without the wait. Disrespectful: Who leaves a new patient in a room for an extended period of time? And then provides a generic assessment that could be given to the masses? I went into the room when there were crowds of people in the waiting area, and kept checking in on status while waiting. At one point, the front desk had left for lunch and I was still waiting. **This review is for the Newport Beach office.** Dr. Tammy Ho is very nice as other reviewers have stated. Her medical assistants are compassionate & friendly as well. However, their billing practices are confusing & questionable. And it's extremely difficult to get anyone on the phone. Secondly, the front office staff are less than friendly. I have waited at the front desk for my appointment 15+ minutes each time. Once while the receptionist helped someone else & the other time while they looked at their phone & talked with the other employee next to them (without looking up to acknowledge me at all). I don't mind waiting. However, eye contact (or, "we'll be right with you") to acknowledge I was standing there is common courtesy. It literally felt like I was a ghost. A simple solution would be if they had a sign in sheet (like most doctors offices have) to sign in & then sit down until being called. They have a lot of elderly patients who I am certain would appreciate not having to stand at the desk for that long just to sign in. I'm a longtime patient & used to see Dr. Gruenfelder in the Laguna Hilla office & it was a very different & positive experience. While I feel confident Dr Tammy Ho has technically acceptable skills, her lack of ability to spend ANY TIME attempting to cariingly communicate with patients is SERIOUSLY lacking. In addition, she is in an office with several other doctors and an inadequate office staff provides for a complete inability to ever get even the simplest of answers! The office staff even complains! I was sent to Dr Ho with extreme pain stemming from over 20 kidney stones between both kidneys and was under her treatment for nearly six months including two surgical procedures. The doctor got angry at me at every visit. Her narcissistic pride caused her to take even the lightest of simple questions as personal attacks, NEVER offering a simple apology for office staff errors, inability to ever get anyone by phone, let alone EVER questioning her professional care!! I have been under a neurologist's care for over 40 years and have gathered a great deal of knowledge about my condition but got very tired of her ego which seems to dictate her strong need to dominate a patient who might DARE to ask a serious question about treatment options! Unless you are merely seeking a doctor who can order a diagnostic test or write a prescription for you, I strongly suggest you find another doctor! read more

I am a 72 year old male who had problems after a hemorrhoidectomy. I had a very large prostate but after my surgery for the hemmohroid I could not pee. I then had a procedure called a holep laser porcedure to clean out my prostate. The procedure worked except it left me inconteinent, After 1 and a half years of constantly being wet I saw Dr. Ho. She explained I needed a procedure called an artificial urinary sphincter. I was hesitant to have this procedure but I did have the procedure. I wasn't very confident that this procedure would work but it did. I wore a painful clamp to stop the dripping in the day. After work I would remove the clamp and I dripped so much. I wore 3 pads or diapers a day and in the morning I woke up soaked. After the urinary sphincter was activated I have been completely dry. Dr Ho explained everything about the procedure and in my opinion is an excellent doctor. I do agree there are a few issues with the office. However to me not that big of thing compared to my success of the surgery. I would not hesitate to see Dr. Ho for any other issue I have. She is personable and will answer any question you have. She is a very busy doctor. I would suggest if you have any questions to write them down and ask her so you won't forget to ask read more

The scope to examining her bladder also did not work. She left very disappointed, and she will not go back to that office anymore. The office staff were not friendly either. The office in Huntington Beach is a mess, staff is rude and do not know what they are doing to add a new patient. I went to Dr. Ho on a Tuesday after I was referred to her by Hoag Hospital after an emergency room visit on that previous Sunday. Only way you can talk to someone in her office is by text. The texts went on all day asking one line stupid questions until I got in to see her around 4pm. She proceeded to tell me that she viewed my CT scans at the hospital on Sunday and she said my kidney stone was too small to cause my pain, she couldn't help me. I am in absolute excruciating back pain and I said "well what do I do?" and she said, "sorry, I can't help you, go see your primary doctor, I told the staff at the hospital this on Sunday. I was the DR reading the scans Sunday." She sure took my $75 co pay and since it was the end of the day they wanted to lock up, so they made me stand and wait outside for my husband to get the car as they locked up behind me. I can barely walk or stand due to my pain. I have never been treated by any medical doctor or doctor's office this way in my life. Total disregard for human pain and suffering. She acted like I was a junkie and all I wanted was pain meds when all I wanted to know was why I was having this pain. She shouldn't be practicing if this is how she treats her patients. read more

This doctor has a bad attitude about helping people understand what is going on. I left knowing nothing more than that she couldn't operate on a cyst less than 15cm. I got no idea where it's located, if it could burst, and when I asked about nutrition ideas she only said "I'm not a nutritionist". She talked about the liver and recommended things that were false about that. She said it could be a rapidly increasing cyst and people won't feel pain but she is waiting 6 months to have it rechecked?!? She also laughs at you if you mention you looked at Google to try to help as if that's a terrible idea. I got more info about the kidney from my chiropractor and liver doctor than she gave me. She also wasn't even going to look at my stomach bulge (I didn't get a left kidney scan yet) until I stood up and basically made her remember to do it as she was ending the conversation.
