Double booking at its best . My appointment was 3:15 PM , they escorted me to a 6 by 6 room with no window (extremely suffocating) and now its 4:45 PM and i am still waiting. Wow , speechless . And then if u show up 20 minuets late they tell u sorry u r too late . Horrible read more

Dr.clayman is great but it feels like they need more doctors on staff. Everything I do with them is on a hurry up and wait basis. Currently I am laying on a table waiting to have my stent removed and have been waiting for half an hour for the doctor to do a 10 minute procedure. All my urology visits were the same, loads of waiting. Hour+ just to get 10 minutes of the doctor's time. I must say if extensive amounts of time is not something you are willing to invest in order to work with UCI urology I urge you to go see someone else but if the hands down BEST care is all you care about they are the only place to be. I gave 5 stars because dr.clayman is excellent, I just wish it didn't cost me so much time to see him. With the time mention aside I want to point out that dr clayman made my uteroscopic stone removal relatively painless and the Stent removal was easy, no pain at all. read more

He is a pleasant, polite, caring & helpful doctor. He explains conditions, tests, procedures, results & treatments in details. He will respond to the questions in the patient portal or personally call; a rare trait among busy Urologists. What a fantastic facility. The staff, especially Henry, goes above and beyond assisting. I needed immediate care and other Urologists couldn't see me for at least one week out. UCI Urology got me in the day I called. I saw Dr. Ralph Clayman. He was very personable, explained everything and answered all questions and laid out a game plan. He way great. His nurses are outstanding and personable. Even Radiology (chest X-rays needed) were great, with a walk in ten minute wait. The whole visit was amazing and I am very impressed with the way all the people there treat their patients, including me. I will definitely recommend UCI Urology to anyone who is in need. Don't be put off by others who say they can't get you in for anywhere from a week to a month as I experienced. read more

UCI is DISAPPOINTING ! All I can say is that the front desk and support staff are INEPT and COMPLETE useless. I understand that they are busy but not returning calls or email or being extremely tardy is unacceptable and UNPROFESSIONAL. Trust me that I get a better treatment from waste management that shreds the paper in my office n quarterly basis. For those who don't know, UCI is #18 Urology hospital in the nation and Dr. Ahlering (FYI, he is not my doctor) is world renown surgeon and he does not accept any insurance and charges cash only for surgery. So, I can't say anything bad about him because he is a top notch physician and i had no interaction with his office. I will call him the nuclear OPTION because he is BEST at his field and when all fails, he is the doctor to go to. I had one visit with Dr Occhio. My appointment was at 9:00AM. I arrived at 9:02AM and I was called in at 9:48AM. While in lobby, one lady was complaining about that she has been there since 8:30AM and another guy complaining that he has been there since 8:38AM. Dr. Ochio also is a good doctor but he seemed over-worked and under-staff at this SHIT HOLE called UCI Urology department. My most interactions was with Dr. Gin which I had three visits with. This guy just does not give a .... (feel in the blank with not so nice words) PERIOD. He often came unprepared to the room, looked like that he is somewhere else and he has the most horrific nurse (April) who does not respond and when she does responds, she respond very late to emails or calls, maybe after 3-4 days has gone by. So, I get it! UCI Urology is nationally ranked and it has respectable doctors like Ahlering and Uchio but it is run like a third rate bad "C" movie show and third rate urgent care in a rural area and how the staff treat patients is horrific and unacceptable. It is really pathetic in every level that you can be on a hold with their radiology department for over 120 minutes and not get a live person or if they even call you back after leaving them messages. So, all I can say is the FORGOT ABOUT UCI-I will just drive to UCLA where the doctors, nurses and back office staff treat you with courtesy and care. read more

If you need surgery, or have a routine scheduled visit, UCI Urology is your place. If you have anything out of the ordinary or is urgent in nature you are out of luck. As many others have reviewed, the staff is uncaring and either lazy, overworked, understaffed, incompetent, or a combination of all four. I had a UTI that was resistant to the medication I was prescribed. I returned for another urinalysis, got the results 3 days later (typical timeline) then waited FOUR MORE DAYS for someone to review the results before I wrote this review. Bear in mind, the infection spreads and gets harder to treat the longer it is let go. Several phone calls, a couple messages within the patient portal, still no response. I asked to have my case elevated to urgent, which they supposedly did, all to no avail. They say their "standard" response time is 24 hours, which they routinely miss. And unfortunately it happens way too often. Still have not received a response. Dr. Patel is an excellent surgeon and I am very satisfied with the kidney stone surgeries he performed. But I will be leaving the UCI system due to its lack of prompt response and lackadaisical attitude. It's a shame because I really like Dr Patel. read more

dr pengo Jiang operated on my daughter at UCI she had several stones. she is paralyzed on left side and was told by a previous doctor he couldn't do anything for her. we found dr p. Jiang, he said he could help her. he was amazingly kind, smart, friendly and had a way to operate. he explained what he was going to do and he did an amazing job. removed all 5 stones. if I could give him a ten star review I would. What a JOKE! I called here on 8/25 with PPO insurance after a referral from urgent care because my UTI symptoms were not clearing up with the prescription antibiotic (still have discomfort and burning). I talked to a "destiny" who couldn't seem more uninterested with my appointment need and told me the next available was October 27!! From August 25??? I explained I was having uncomfortable and painful symptoms and was hoping to be evaluated sooner. Her attitude and response was "well I can't give you medical advice and we are a speciality clinic we don't handle emergencies"..huh? Not having an emergency, just trying to follow up quickly on uncomfortable and bothersome symptoms! If you are having medical issues with your urinary system, don't call here and expect help! Dr. Landman is extremely kind and an absolute expert in urology. He diagnosed me with stage 3 kidney cancer using an in office needle biopsy. The biopsy was entirely painless. This type of biopsy is something that Dr. Landman developed, he checked to make sure that it was really painless. I honestly couldn't feel anything, he even warned me of the loud noise the needle gun would make. I found out that I would need one of my kidneys removed to get rid of this cancer, I had a 7.7cm mass on one. Dr. Landman personally helped expedite my surgery so from diagnosis to surgery was only 10 days. I can't say enough how kind he was throughout this entire process. He always not only treated me like a human being but honestly treated me like I was a member of his family. The surgery was a success and I am still 100% cancer free one year later. I still am doing follow ups with Dr. Landman. I trust him 1000% percent and will continue seeing him as long as he is practicing. I usually expect doctors to be unfriendly and treat me like a number, this was a full 180 from that. He never rushed me, he always has time for my questions. He is extremely responsive and helpful. His office is always a pleasure to work with. I got through stage 3 kidney cancer at age 33 successfully due to being under Dr. Landman's care, I can't recommend him enough. read more

I wish that I could give "negative" stars: SHOCKINGLY, incomprehensible bad response time. On 1/31/24, I had an abnormal lesion show on my left kidney during a complete abdominal ultrasound that was ordered by my new gastroenterologist (not UCI). I have a PPO, so I called UCI to go see, per my primary's recommendation (via note from gastroenterologist) to go see a urologist. I called UCI Urology on 2/08 immediately after I got the results back from the 1/31 ultrasound. I did not hear back, so just called on late afternoon on 2/09. (I got a "snarky" response from the lady stating, "I see that you already called 3 times".) I told her that I am anxious to get someone on the phone to schedule an appt with a urologist, due to the (apparently) fast-growing lesion, because my last complete abdom ultrasound showed nothing on my kidney. I asked her if she could please "flag" it as STAT or "Urgent" and she said that she would put "Urgent, again, because it's already flagged as urgent" on it. I "made" myself wait for just over 1 week for a call back -- never happened. (I refused to call again.) I called City of Hope. They answered the phone at around 4pm on 2/19*( and asked if I was able to see one of their urologists the next morning. (He is very reputable and my husband saw him once years ago and kindly remembered him.) I saw the urologist (City of Hope) on 2/20. I had a CT scan done on 2/27. I saw the same urologist on 3/05 to go over results of the CT scan. Thank God, surprisingly, the CT scan showed no lesion. BUT, if it did, it would be a very fast growing one, indeed, according to the comp abdom ultrasound (centimeter) report of what was thought to be a lesion at the time. When did I finally get a call back from UCI Urology?? Today, 3/15!! This is 25 BUSINESS DAYS later, not including President's Day, to hear back for scheduling on a "STAT"/Urgent request to see a urologist. If there was a cancerous growing lesion, I could or would be half DEAD (or seriously ill) by now waiting for them to contact me!!! BTW, When I returned the call that I had missed today, a young sounding guy answered the phone absolutely mumbling emotionlessly with great indifference into the phone. I told him, "I can't even understand what you said. I'm returning a call from Dr. X's office." He said, "Hold on." I was then transferred to a woman who I told to please remove me from being contacted AND I told her the dates/time-lines of WHEN i called UCI versus WHEN I called City of Hope; got in to see a urologist right away; CT scan complete, AND a follow-up with the urologist...ALL COMPLETED...only to have UCI call me on 3/15 to "make" an appt....and add HOW MUCH MORE time added on to actually get in to SEE a urologist... to what could have been a fast-growing deadly growth?? I would NEVER trust my well-being to UCI Urology! "Scary" bad! read more

I want to recommend UCI Urology - Newport Beach. I saw Dr. Patel and together we planned the best treatment for me. I felt that he has my back and he showed me so much respect and compassion that I am not anxious about my upcoming surgery at all. Skilled surgeon and his "bedside manner" was the best Ive ever experienced from any doctor. Took time to understand my condition and my concerns, and helped me to understand treatment and outcome. Dr.Landman has been my urologist for several years. He has been monitoring a cyst in me left kidney. Dr.Landman's staff make it easy for me to schedule upcoming appointments and the MRIs that I need yearly. The staff is always welcoming and professional and that means a lot. Every time I visit Dr.Landman, he is kind and takes the time to fully explain my results and what it means for me. His knowledge and professionalism clearly shows and this puts me at ease. Sometimes I worry about my cyst but I know I'm in good hands with Dr. Landman if my condition were to ever take a turn for the worse. :) read more

I was sent here by my doctor to see Dr Landman. I was kind of worried at first because I usually go through the VA, but they haven't been the best and I had insurance so I went outside of the system. I made an appointment and the staff that made my appointment was able to get me earlier than I was expecting. I was coming all the way from Hollywood so I was make a commitment coming there. I'm glad I did. They got me in and the Doctor was able to figure out what was going on and they treated me fairly quickly. I was able to recover and fairly quickly. The staff was great they followed up with me to make sure I was okay and the billing with the insurance was easy I didn't have to do much. I know if I have to go outside the VA, I'm coming here. read more

Staff just doesn't care, doesn't return phone calls. VM are unintelligible, continuously; they must be using talk to text and it's horrible. Trying to reach the office is often difficult, as in long wait on the phone. And then attitude. Then I find out that if you use a different imaging center than the UCI, you MUST get a copy on Disc. I thought we were in the 21st century and file transfer could be facilitated thru a portal, but no, they refused to accept that process. I live in South County, so North county is not convenient. And with a zoom call, where is that disc going? not my responsibility as the patient. Sr. Clayman is great but the staff is impossible to deal with. read more

The UCI Urology department is staffed with incredibly knowledgeable doctors, that have a tremendous amount of experience handling all of the urology issues that present themselves. I saw Dr. Ralph Clayman and he has been my urologist ever since. He takes time getting to know you as a patient, presenting you with the options that are available and trying his best to answer the plethora of questions that we all seem to have these days. I found their Newport Beach Office to be very easy to find, parking was abundant and the facility inside is immaculate. The admin staff, run by UCI Medical School, is young but I have found them always willing to help by reaching out to the doctor to see if there might be another opening in his schedule to be able to bring you into the office sooner. Their follow-up is good as well. read more
