This car is entirely rust free. Todd and Susan worked with my wife and me to arrange the paperwork for the sale in 24 hours. When they learned that we could only fly in to pick it up on a weekend due to my wife's work schedule, they bent over backward to arrange the pick up for a Sunday morning at 7 am. A newer update: we've been at the shop now for over 2 hours. They put in a replacement used battery (the 3rd battery they've put in 2 months) and we couldn't even leave the lot without running into the same issue. So now they have to take out the one they just spent 2 hours putting in, and put another *FOURTH* battery. Unreal! We bought our car here thinking it was a reliable dealer based on the reputation. We were wrong. Don't be fooled like us! An update: 4 days after purchasing our used car, the hybrid battery died! I was really upset, because the car wouldn't even turn on. I called the shop and the owner Todd was nice and had us bring the car in, and he replaced the battery. BUT now it has been about 8 weeks and the *replacement battery* he put in is dead. We called and read him the codes, and he confirmed the hybrid battery has failed. Luckily it is still under warranty and we will be going back to have a THIRD battery put in. On one hand I'm glad they're honoring their warranty, on the other hand this wasn't a cheap car and for us to have to bring it back twice in 2.5 months for failed batteries is kind of ridiculous. Thus my change from 5 star to 3 stars. I am betting they will put in another crummy battery that will last ~just past~ the warranty date before it fails smh read more

I took my Prius to them twice. The first time, they replaced the hybrid battery, and their work was very good. The second time, however, I thought I needed a tow, so they dispatched a truck. The truck driver arrived late, and discovered that the car didn't need to be towed after all, but still insisted on towing it anyway. They were a giant pain to deal with. They called Tampa Hybrids, who said I'd have to pay for their time, which I had never been opposed to doing. Tampa Hybrids then said the rate would be reduced since the car was not towed, and we hung up. The tower then asked for 25% MORE than the agreed price, until I pointed out what was quoted. They quickly went back to the quoted full price, and I offered 75% of that. They were totally inflexible, and they called both Tampa Hybrids and the truck owner who did nothing but shout at me. I lost my patience and said they can forget it. They hung out on my property for about an hour before leaving. Tampa Hybrids now refuse to service my car, and hung up on me. read more

I wish I had known about Tampa Hybrids before I purchased a Prius from a small roadside dealer who committed odometer fraud! TH is refreshingly honest and economical as well. (They have their own little junkyard of used parts.) They were the ones who determined that there had been odometer fraud and ran a CarFax report--for free--that proved it. I'm now pursuing the dealer. Meanwhile, the repairs that TH made on my Prius made it feel and sound like a different car! The muffler had holes in it and they saved me $$ by putting a used muffler on my car. I feel much better about purchasing a hybrid now that I have Tampa Hybrids on my side. read more

We purchases a used Prius from him, and shortly after driving it off the lot, a check engine light came on. Took it back, and he found that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. He did it free of charge and we were on our way. Just a little over a year ago I was in the market for used hybrid to use as a daily driver for my 30 mile commute between where I live in Carrollwood and where I work in New Port Richey. As a collector of sports cars I've had the pleasure and displeasure over the years or buying cars from all sorts of individuals and dealers; both big and small. Having a particular negative notion about buying from small used car dealerships I walked into Tampa Hybrids ready for the worse and instead found the best. Putting a purchase deal together with Todd was the easiest most laid back buying experience I've ever had. Friendly and thorough without being pushy Todd took the time to go over his entire inventory and then in detail the particular late model Prius I was most interested in. After taking a test drive he showed me how everything on the car worked, came apart and what areas are often problematic. I was thoroughly impressed to say the least. When I presented Todd with my pre-approval paperwork from my local credit union he was equally knowledgeable and ready to help. A smooth transaction, I went home that evening with my new Prius. Before leaving Todd reminded me of his bumper to bumper warranty for the first thousand miles on the car. A few days later after making a trip with my wife to North Florida on our return home something didn't seem right... The Prius was driving rough and did not want to go over 40mph due to the traction control system limiting it. Immediately thinking it to be a tire or wheel problem and remembering Todd's warranty we took the Prius over to Todd's shop. Todd checked out the car and drove it a bit, and felt there was a problem or defect with the front passenger side tire and it needed to be replaced. Todd then offered to take the Prius to my tire shop of choice and he would replace the tire or if I wanted he would split the cost of just replacing all four tires with me. I took him up on that offer and and he took care of the rest, even making sure my wife had a way back to work. My first Prius 2008 finally needed a new hybrid battery. This used to be a very costly affair. Even with a dead hybrid battery, the Prius still drives but accelerates very slowly on the gas engine alone. I drove the car to Tampa Hybrids for some battery refreshment. Its worth mentioning that Tampa Hybrids has a very cushy customer lounge where you can wait while the car is serviced. Once again Todd came to the rescue with a replacement battery -- a used one from a 2010 model for which he charged about $1500 parts and labor (price is not current so ask Todd for a quote). An hour later, the car was as zippy as ever and has been working great for well over a year with 150,000 miles on the odo. I asked him about rebuilt units which he used to do in this garage. He now feels that its better to use an original battery. The rebuilt cells are difficult to match and if any one fails, it can take out the battery again. Bottom line is that Tampa Hybrid is still the place to go for sales and service for used Prius cars. read more

I was quoted $6200 for a transmission from Lexus, and Tampa Hybrids tested and found it that it wasn't actually the transmission but the inverter. Cost was dramatically less ($1200).
