I highly recommend this place to everyone. I've visited many times and will continue coming back…read more I've also recommended it to my friends, and they enjoy visiting as well. Whenever I drive to Los Angeles, this is the one place I look forward to stopping at for delicious, homestyle food. It has become a tradition for me to visit both on my way to LA and on my return to the Bay Area. The staff is always warm, polite, and welcoming--they truly make you feel at home. There is usually a bit of a wait, but that's because they prepare the food fresh, and they never disappoint. The quality, taste, and consistency make the wait worthwhile. I only wish they would open a franchise in the Bay Area! Until next time, keep growing and serving the same fresh, delicious food. Please continue maintaining the excellent quality that makes this place so special. My rating of this establishment is 10 STARS

Found a new place to eat. It is in Buttonwillow California and it is called Taste of India…read more The food was absolutely DELICIOUS!!!!! I WILL GO AGAIN. To start, the service was excellent. Older gentleman and he was great. Very attentive and nice. The decor and atmosphere were authentic Indian and it felt nice being there. Now the food. I had salad, Garlic Naan, Rice and Cheese Masala. The salad, rice and Naan were really good. However, the Cheese Masala was friggin superb. So much flavor packed in that little bowl. Was worth every penny I paid. I very highly recommend this place.

First of all, I've known this place since it was a food truck in the middle of nowhere, and I've…read morealways been a big fan. I moved out of Bakersfield but every time I visited, I had to make sure I go to this place. This time I brought my friends who also live in bigger cities, but everyone ended up falling in love with this place and couldn't stop talking about it. I'm so happy that they moved from the food truck location to a nicer place and more central to the nicer part of Bakersfield (near riverwalk) . My friends who I took to this place, still rave about the food they had here. It's so authentic, delicious, and just special. You ordered at the counter, and during lunch time there are options to get the lunch combo which are two types of dishes with rice or naan. I usually chose the usual, either tikka masala, butter chicken, or curry. But this time I wanted to try something I never got from the menu, which is the Shahi Matar chicken. Oh.My.God, it was the bomb! It's sooo good. The other thing that I always got was the veggie pakora. It goes sooo well with the curry dishes. Amazing. Services were pretty fast, around 10mins of wait during busy lunch time. If you didn't finish the food (which they give you really good portion), they have the lids for everything and ready to take home. Everytime I go back to Bakersfield, I always ensure to come here and bring my visitor friends here too. I already miss all the food here.

I found about Punjabi Dhaba from a recent Los Angeles Times article, and I was excited to try it…read moreduring a recent Bakersfield visit. They have an extensive menu, and it took me a while to figure out what to order. To her credit, the cashier took her time explaining the various options available and was patient in answering my menu questions. I ended up ordering one of the lunch combos with chole masala, chicken tikka masala, and naan along with a mango lassi. I'm happy that the employee steered me away from the a la carte menu, because the lunch combo was quite a filling meal. Both the chole and chicken tikka masalas were well-seasoned, and the naan had an excellently flaky texture. The ambience was casual, and I felt welcomed by the cashier (though some of the looks by other diners highlighted how much I differed from the primarily South Asian customers during my lunch). I would definitely revisit during a future Bakersfield stop.

This place just keeps getting better. I need to see them featured on more "best of" lists for…read moreBakersfield! The food is beyond incredible. I can't stop eating the paneer butter masala (surprising to absolutely no one), and the garlic naan. If you're brave, get it spicy-- it will blow your face off, but in a good way (like a hot kiss instead of a bomb). But be warned-- their drinks come in cans and if it's super hot, you may need to order more than one, lol. I impressed my company by not needing to drink much during my spicy meal, and yes this is a casual heat tolerance brag, I'm sorry! Anyway, the service is really wonderful even if the communication can be a little rusty because I'm a basic monolingual bish. They just want you to enjoy your food and your time with them, so don't be shy and ask questions if you're unsure about something you're ordering. They have vegan and vegetarian options. I've only gone with meat eaters and they have not been disappointed. This is one of the best restaurants in Bakersfield and I'm worried people are totally asleep at the wheel on this one. They deserve your support, they're family run and worthy of your time and money! Other awesome things to try: dal, any breads, egg rolls, any green curry.

I cannot say enough good things about the food here…read more I have not been disappointed in all the times I ate at Indian Village. Today I had the Garlic Naan, ALWAYS great, the Basmati Rice, and the Paneer Tikka Masala. Heaven!!!!!. I am stuffed and happy. Service is always great, they actually know be by name which is nice because to many restaurants I'm just a person. The atmosphere is pure Indian.

We came in late afternoon and we were quickly seated by very nice servers. Very clean restaurant…read more The ambiance was warm and relaxing. Tandoori chicken and fish were delicious. We especially favored the tender fish. The black lentils were cooked in fragrant spices but way too spicy for me. My hubby loves spicy, but he said they were overly spicy. Garlic naan was deliciously charred. I will definitely return. The food and experience was well worth our first visit.

Greeted with a warm welcome as we walked in, you could tell this family run restaurant wants you to enjoy their cuisine. They were very accommodating towards my mom and sister in regard to spice levels and patiently explained the dishes they weren't familiar with. We started off with complimentary spiced papadums and a trio of chutneys. My mom loves lamb so she selected the curry and enjoyed the flavor and tenderness. I like paneer so I got it as tikka masala. It was a tad too sweet for my preference but I still enjoyed it. My sister never tried chicken jalfrezi and was told it's actually a spicy dish. They modified it for her capsaicin averse tastebuds and she was very happy with her pick. Yellow lentils, veggie samosas, basmati rice and garlic naan rounded off our dinner. Bakersfield has a lot of Indian restaurants to choose from, so I hope they have longevity and success. When we drive through Bakersfield, we will make sure to patronize Samosa Junction again!
