It's a charming little stand at a gas station, and one of the best parts is getting to watch your food being cooked fresh right in front of you. The flavors were delicious, the prices were very affordable, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations. Anytime I'm driving between Northern and Southern California, this will definitely be one of my regular stops. read more

Honestly, some of the best Indian food I have had in a while. I was in disbelief of how good it was! Flaky, steaming samosas with crisp cilantro chutney. The chai was also amazing, spicy and warmed me to my feet. A nice Sikh man recommended both items, and I loved both! I stopped to get gas and found an Indian restaurant inside the Chevron station. I normally would steer clear, but hey, you never know. The women running and cooking the joint seemed nice, once you can get through the heavy accent. After seeing and smelling what they were cooking over the stove, I rolled the dice on the cauliflower Paratha and a vegetable samosa. There's no seating inside, but there are tables outside to the left. The Paratha came with a white yogurt dip and the combination left my tastebuds bewildered. I wasn't sure what to make of it. The samosa on the other hand, tasted like what a samosa should taste like. In general, it was good, but wasn't great when you consider the price. So, it turns out to be a 3 star ok kinda lunch moment. read more

From a periodic indian food eater, this was a surprising hidden gem we stumbled on. 4.5 stars. The strong attractive smells are hard to miss when pulling up to get gas. So we had to try the food. The lamb biryani was packed with flavors!! Very satisfying at each bite. How authentic, I didn't care, but just seeing the cooks ethnicity I figured it was pretty solid (and it was). I almost didn't take the yogurt sauce on the side, but the guy convinced me to "just try a bite, and decide to add some" which ended up being right. Even though the spice level was medium, the yogurt sauce adds more, so try it out One minor critique: watch out for pieces of whole spices mixed in. Guess they missed some. You might get a small crunch and bomb of pure herb/spice. read more

This is a family-run lunch counter with homemade Indian food. I enjoyed the food, especially the excellent butter naan that they made right in front of me. But one important note: the outside seating area (and the rest of the gas station where this is) is infested with flies. It makes for a very difficult and unpleasant overall eating experience, even though the flies aren't really the fault of this business. I feel like if they work with the gas station operator, they can reduce the problem to a tolerable level. In its current state, I would need to take it to go and eat somewhere else, because there's no inside seating. I'll update this next time to see whether the problem is better. read more

Was driving up from SoCal to the Bay Area. I missed my regular rest/break exit and took the next one. To my pleasant surprise, found this Indian (Punjabi) gas station store. They have a section inside the store where the sell freshly cooked food. The specials for the day included "Rajmah Chawal" (Kidney bean curry and Rice). So we had to order that :) Also got some freshly fried samosas. The Rajmah Chawal was very delicious and had a nice flavor of "ghee" (clarified butter). The samosas were nice and crunchy on the outside and the stuffing was tasty. I gobbled one without even dipping it in the chutney. This store looked like a family run business and all the people were very friendly. Now I have a new spot to stop for gas and food between SoCal and the Bay! P.S: They saw my 3 year old with me and gave a complimentary sweet (gulab jamun) :) read more

We were on the way home from San Diego when my 7 year old needed to go to the restroom. We took an exit... there were two gas stations... one on he right and one on the left.. we decided to turn left. We saw the sign for Indian food. We usually avoid Indian restaurants in US because none of them are the authentic kind. But we were hungry and didn't want to do fast-food. So we decided to give it a try. The lady behind the counter was making the rotis right there! I asked for somethings off the menu, they were really nice and said they can make it but we didn't want to wait so we got dal makhni, mixed veggie, and 2 of the freshly made rotis. The lassis were freshly made, too. There were two picnic tables outside where we sat to eat... and omg! THE BEST AUTHENTIC HOME COOKED INDIAN FOOD we've had in US. We had to get two more rotis! The universe conspired to introduce us to this place. Had our kid not needed to use the restroom at that exact time...had we made the right turn instead of left... had we found some other restaurant, we would have never known of this little hidden gem! read more

Just saw this on Yelp and gave it a try. Very delicious and authentic Punjabi cuisine. Two very nice ladies are taking orders and preparing the food. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and have plenty left over. We ordered mango lassi, limca soda, samosas, Chicken curry and veg. Biryani. Everything was very tasty!!! read more

What an awesome place!!! We just searched food close to us on GoogpMaps. This popped up 4 miles away. We have noticed some awesome Indian food dhabas coming up on I-5. We have tried two which were amazing. So we decided try this one also. I had the simple parantha( which she made from scratch right in front of me, she has an open kitchen). Channa daal ghia ( delicious). My husband had vegetarian biryani which was full of tiny delicious vegetables. It came with plain yoghurt. I can't stress enough how amazing it felt to eat travel friendly food on the road. Flavorful, delicious and healthy. The servers were also very friendly and polite. The whole experience was fantastic. Will definitely go again. read more

New favorite vegetarian-friendly spot to eat on the 5, especially since we try to avoid fast food and would rather support family-run establishments. It's just north of the Grapevine in a gas station. Very homemade style - you can watch them make the rotis fresh to order behind the counter. We've tried their dal, saag paneer, rice, rotis, samosas, and mango lassi. The quality & flavor compared to many sit down Indian restaurants in the Bay Area. The outdoor seating area is not great but it's fine to eat quick and there's a shady grassy spot nearby that's nice for our dog. Also I wish they would post their prices on their menu board. But in general the food is delicious! read more

Short review : Best to skip this to-go overpriced place Long review: We went there as we thought this is a restaurant, but it is just a to-go place with some city park style benches outside. At first we couldn't locate it as it's inside a gas station and in a grocery shop, while we were looking for a restaurant. As someone mentioned in earlier reviews, they will charge Card fee 3.5% without informing you and you don't know the food prices until you pay for it. Honestly their prices were way too expensive for their home cooking style to go place, also their utensils were too cheap. For their price, we can get food in a decent style restaurant with good service in a metro cities like LA/SFO Bay area (To compare: our previous dinner for 2 adults in LA best indian restaurant in town was $60 and here we paid for $50) Unfortunately due to above reasons (Over priced + Cheap utensils + No restaurant like ambience and service + extra card charges), we have to give 1 star or lesser. Not sure how come this togo place got so many ratings! read more

Amazing fresh food. Ordered Kadhi pakora, chana, stuffed karela, aloo paratha and roti. The food was very fresh, you could make from the first bite itself, roti's were totally delicious and thin as homemade. Kadhi pakora was made with curd unlike other places which add just besan in water. Usually eating outside makes my tummy upset but first time it was fine. Deducted one star because seating is outside which is open area and guess in summers would be tough as it's too hot so take away would be the only option. read more

It feels good and tastes good here. The people are friendly. It's a family business, named for the desire of the wife to open a restaurant. I assume the storefront came first and the restaurant was an addition. But the food is delicious and being made right in front of you. The chapati was literally rolled out right min the moment and cooked. The mango lassi made to order. The veggies and chickpeas I had were super tasty and I shared a little of another dish made from a base of buttermilk with my cousin which was super tasty as well. I will be stopping here again. It's hard to be on the road and get fast, tasty, nutritious food from a family run-business, but they've got it here. read more

Wow, I am so glad I stumbled across this place! It's kind of in the middle of nowhere, so I did not expect to find such a great food option there. The food was very authentic and delicious. They happily offered to make all kinds of alterations for other diners who, for example, wanted to avoid certain ingredients or strong spice. They had interesting dishes that I hadn't had before - not just your standard Indian restaurant dishes. They even gave me free samples of dishes I hadn't heard of before I decided what to order! The service was super friendly and patient, even with explaining the items I hadn't heard of before. I HIGHLY recommend this place. Yes, it is in the gas station convenience store.
