I really wanted a female doctor and found myself gravitating to Dr.Pavna Brahma. When I first found her, she was at RBA and after my first consult, I knew I wanted her to be my doctor. Dr.Brahma is incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, kind and informative. I came with a list of questions and she graciously answered all of them and even diagrammed parts that were extra complicated. She never made me feel rushed, or stupid and spent the time that was needed to ensure I was comfortable. I went through my first egg retrieval with her, which netted out to one healthy embryo (after blastocyst and PGS testing). As I was going through my second retrieval, I found out Dr.Brahma had left RBA and I was given a different male doctor (Dr.Toledo). I was saddened to hear the news of her departure and nobody would tell me where she went. Dr.Toledo helped me finish out Dr.Brahmas protocol, which resulted in 4 healthy embryos. I ended up doing two transfers with Dr.Toledo, which unfortunately resulted in two failed transfers. Dr.Toledo was not able to give me good guidance on what went wrong or provide a solid plan going forward, so I went looking for a second opinion. Coincidentally, my OBGYN, recommended Dr.Brahma who I found out was at Shady Grove. I got a copy of medical records and went to Shady Grove to visit Dr.Brahma. When she saw us, she immediately embraced us, and was so welcoming, it felt like seeing an old friend. She glanced through our records and was immediately able to pinpoint areas for improvement. We ended up transferring our remaining embryos to Shady Grove and after my first transfer back with Dr.Brahma, I got pregnant. Unfortunately, it didn't progress beyond 5 weeks because the embryo quality was too low. We continued to work with Dr.Brahma and about 9 months later, I was pregnant again and this time, we made it past 6 weeks, then 8 weeks and eventually graduated from Shady Grove and released to my OBGYN. I'm currently 18 weeks pregnant and I know I wouldn't be here without Dr.Brahma. She was our saving grace. She was always very honest and open with us about our options, supported us throughout and always came to the table with a strong plan. She never let me lose faith and my husband and I firmly believe she is one of the best fertility specialists in the country. We would recommend her to anyone trying to conceive. She has every quality you would want in a doctor: empathetic, smart, well researched, incredible bedside manner, great communicator, thoughtful and thorough. I underwent three egg retrievals and spent more than $37,000 out of pocket, with suboptimal results. While I fully understand that fertility treatment comes with no guarantees, my concerns are about the management of my care. I have known, manageable--and disclosed--hypothyroidism, yet my thyroid was not monitored throughout any of my treatment. Thyroid function and TSH are particularly important considerations in fertility care, which makes this oversight especially concerning. During what was supposed to be my fourth retrieval, an unrelated appointment found my TSH significantly elevated at 6.78. What followed was contradictory guidance from the care team, including confusion over whether SGF's TSH threshold of 2.5 even applied to my retrieval. I ultimately stopped treatment based on their guidance and was left with more than $3,000 in medication costs. When I raised my concerns with Dr. Brahma, I was extremely disappointed by her response and what I felt was a complete lack of accountability, understanding, or willingness to work toward a solution. Even more troubling was SGF leadership's lack of response. I spent months trying to resolve this privately. After briefly speaking with administration, I was assured my complaint would be addressed. When I heard nothing, I repeatedly followed up, including six separate voicemails and portal messages. Communication completely stopped. Zero follow up. Zero acknowledgement. I never received further outreach or any attempt at a meaningful resolution. I work in healthcare operations and I find this completely inexcusable. Failing to follow up on a serious patient complaint despite repeated attempts by the patient to resolve it is both unbelievable and deeply disappointing. After three retrievals, $37,000+, serious concerns about my care under Dr. Brahma, six unanswered calls, months of escalation, and ultimately no resolution, I have zero trust in Shady Grove Fertility and strongly encourage prospective patients to look elsewhere.

Dr. Calhoun and her team were wonderful to work with. The clinic overall was very easy to contact and I felt I always received quick and thorough answers to questions. My only negative was that initially it wasn't explicitly stated that we were required to use a surrogacy agency for our journey. After attempting to start our journey independent of an agency, I was told that they now did in fact require patients to use an agency unless they were using a family member or known friend as their surrogate. This is just something to keep in mind as most surrogacy agencies are going to run $20K-$30k. We ended up using an agency that they recommended and had a beautiful journey that gave us a precious and healthy baby boy. We are so very thankful for Dr. Calhoun and her team in the role they played in bringing our precious son into this world.

I did not call your office to request any change, nor did I receive any confirmation email or phone call regarding this rescheduling. When I contacted your office to ask about this issue, I was told that the change was made at the patient's request, which is incorrect. I clearly stated that I did not request any change and asked how my appointment could be moved without my authorization or notification. Despite this, I was informed that nothing could be done, even though the mistake was not mine. I then politely requested that the staff check with the doctor to see if I could come at any time on my original appointment date, as I am flexible. I was told that the staff member would check with the doctor and call me back. Unfortunately, I never received a call. When I followed up later the same day, I was told that the staff member was still "in a meeting with the provider." When I called again several hours later, I was told to hold, and then informed that she "did not mean to call" me at all. This response was extremely dismissive and disrespectful. As of now, I am still waiting for a callback. The lack of communication, accountability, and basic courtesy from the front desk staff has been very disappointing. This situation reflects very poorly on your office's patient service standards. I hope this matter can be reviewed seriously and corrected as soon as possible. I would appreciate confirmation of my appointment status and an explanation of how this situation occurred.

There is no number to call to speak with finance. It took almost two months to get a simple prior auth with our insurance due to RBA sending incorrect records and delays with resending. Then, we needed a new prior authorization sent which again was declined due to missing information. We lost multiple months and cycles. Their clinical team is rude and provides inaccurate information. They schedule for incorrect procedures, or none at all (good luck getting a call back to schedule!) Scheduling simple tests also takes 2 to three weeks. Their app is constantly down but thats the only way to communicate with anyone. Doctors provide completely unrealistic timelines and outcomes.They are not on the same page with anyone on their admin team RBA is also more expensive than others. Go elsewhere if possible. I've used Emory for egg freezing and although their billing team is difficult to work with, and they are a bit more expensive, it is worth the communication standard and lack of errors

When I requested to speak to someone about it numerous times I was completely blown off except by the Dr who said she would express my concerns. There were issues with misrepresentation of services, surprise billing, breaking hippa by an anesthesiologist who confused me with another patient and then realized her mistake and shared some of that patients history with me as an explanation further breaking hippa. There were repeated communication failures that have resulted in financial harm, added stress and compromised medical care. When my specialist called the answering service needing to speak to my Dr the message was never sent to her, they were never directed to a Dr on call and no one spoke with him. Drs don't usually call on the weekend unless there is a serious concern which there was and had my Dr been made aware there is no doubt in my mind she would have reached out. Additional issues include: * A $280 charge for laboratory tests that were never drawn that I had to spend time and energy getting them to remove because I didn't have them done there. I uploaded results from my dr after she has them done and it only cost me about $30 * A promised billing call that never occurred * Constant incorrect pricing - they documented the FDA exam pricing in an email and then tried to overcharge me after and I had to show their staff the email so they would match it While individual staff members have been courteous, the administrative and billing practices reflect poor coordination, lack of transparency, and disregard for patient safety. I will finish the review when I have more time but if you are looking for a fertility clinic I cannot recommend them. They told me one cost and charged me another, ended up costing much more then I was told I'd spend, we're not good about communicating, didn't provide all my records when requested and the other Dr I dealt with for my removal, seemed like he had a bad bedside manner and seemed rushed and uncaring.

He left me in the waiting room for 45 minutes - came in and told me that they couldn't do anything else till my sugar was under control and then left. I was mad because he could have at least told me on this phone and not wasted my time with just that I dont like to go to a doctors office and not feel like they are not talking to us. I gave 2 stars for the lady that was taking us through the steps for the ivf, because she was very sweet, but we just stopped going now because of all of this. They have a telephone line that you need to call 4 or 5 times before they even respond. I switched from my other doctor because my family doctor told me that the outcomes over here are wonderful and they have a better success rate. But their customer service and following up sucks!! They are supposed to make this process easier, not harder.

My first visit was thorough and delightful--I was told the increased levels of hormones they prescribed and adding estrogen was going to protect my heart, brain and bones and help me lose some of my menopause weight. I came for my follow up and she did not have record in front of her that I had previously been on any hormones, so I had to start over explaining. She was short and did not follow up with the pelvic floor therapy she had told me she would find out about for me. Yellow flag. The kicker: this week, after being 6 years post-menopause, I started heavy dark brown bleeding. I had fallen the day before and was very worried this bleeding was related. I was scared and called, was transferred to the nurse's line--she never called me back. I ended up in Urgent Care who sent me to ER. After the stress and expense of that I was released--hours and many tests later they no idea what was going on. The next day I called and left another voicemail for the nurse, saying I wanted help, for somebody to tell me how to wean myself off these hormones. Never heard back. Later that day I started a "normal" period! I called yet again on Friday morning , this time to leave a voicemail message with the front desk that I wanted a medical professional to call me. I did not hear back. I have never in my life been treated this way by a medical facility, I cannot even believe it. There is absolutely no excuse.

As expected, I did not need a hysterectomy. Of course, I never went back. BEWARE! Also the AC was broken and they offered me water from a urine sample cup. Of course I said no thank you. Just an unprofessional practice all around. I was never so degraded by a healthcare practice in my life. I have happily moved on to a REAL GYN doctor.

And needles? Are you kidding? (Actually that made me kind of curious, how does it work?) But my health got pretty bad and I was willing to try anything to feel better. I started trying acupuncturists in the big city... I kid of lucked out, the third person I saw... wow! She was amazing. I saw her for years. Those visits healed and changed my life. I couldn't believe I had waited to long to try it, there were such profound results available to me after just a few visits with someone great. So I kept it up, she kind of became my therapist, life coach, doctor all in one. I was very happy and told all my friends who were interested in acupuncture. (Who agreed, so I have some credit here on knowing a good acupuncturist when I get poked by one.) Unfortunately, I had to move too far away for visits - I could no longer see her. In my new location, I started searching and searching for someone as good. I tried several acupuncturists, and the experience was... okay. Sometimes even very strange. And one, kind of terrible, to be honest. But I wasn't going to give up. I knew how much wellbeing there was possible, I knew how good it COULD be. After two YEARS of looking, I found Julia Shengaout! This acupuncturist is one of the best in the country-IMHO! She really knows what she is doing, is caring and listens. I have been a patient for a long time and she is stellar. Her insight on acupuncture points, her bedside manner and her administrative perfection are an incredible combo that is truly rare. If you are considering acupuncture, or considering traveling a little further outside your area, she is worth it! It's a dreamy cloud of rest and relaxation and I feel amazing every time I visit her. I'm so grateful that I found her and I want to save you time searching for someone else and also tell you, the time in these sessions is a gift to yourself. It is deep care. And it might seem unusual at first, but the rewards are INCREDIBLE. I rely on acupuncture as part of my overall care for many years and over that time it has helped me with asthma, allergies, back pain, joint pain, depression, stress, anxiety and worry, etc. It's not just the acupuncture itself, it's the whole visit, the realization, the consultation, the advice that is given and it's a very holistic approach to wellness. I have been having pains in my leg due to schwannomas (nerve sheath pressing on nerve itself). The…read morepain would happen at odd times and could be quite severe. Advil didn't help much, and I did not want to use the strong stuff. Finally I decided to try acupuncture. I am not comfortable with the needles, but apparently Julia has light hand. I almost didn't feel anything. She pinned me with several needles in my leg and my arm (what does arm have to do with it?) and left me alone for about 20 minutes. Then I left and did not think about the treatment for several days. In several days I realized that my leg hasn't been hurting! For the next month I forgot about the pain. After about 5 weeks it started coming back a little, so now I plan to go for another visit.

She first left me in the room for over 45 minutes, then came in and out repeatedly, leaving for long periods. She also refused to re-prescribe me my birth control, which cost about $2.00 with insurance, even after I asked. She instead prescribed me Slynd (which they seem to be pushing lately), which costs over $200 even with insurance. During the pap smear "attempt," I was given no pain relief, and she ignored my discomfort and pain and tried to tell me that a tampon and speculum were the same size; therefore, this should be no problem. She also inquired about my sexual activity and virginity status, then recommended penetrative sex as a way to get used to the pain. Needless to say, her comments were extremely inappropriate and rude, bordering on discriminatory language. I would not recommend this practice to any woman of color or queer person, as they are not affirming or understanding in the slightest. Dr. Illston, in particular, should be fired. For such a medically invasive field, one would hope they'd be better, but practice does not care about you or your feelings.

I had a wonderful first time surgery experience with Dr. Frederick and the rest of my care team from North Fulton Outpatient Surgery center. I knew I was in good hands with Dr. Frederick and that he would take good care of me and he did just that. My husband & sister were very impressed with Dr. Frederick as well as he took the time to explain the procedure to them the day of and answered all of their questions. He also called my husband immediately after the surgery to give him an update on how everything went which my husband very much appreciated as he was worried himself in the waiting room. Over the past 2 months I have recommended two of my coworkers to this practice for regular GYN care and first time OB care and they both had great experiences with the nurse practitioners that they saw. One of my coworkers even recommended her sister who came back with great reviews as well. Dr. Frederick hires the best doctors, midwives & nurse practitioners so whoever you see here you will be in good hands. I highly recommend Dr. Frederick and his team for any and all OB-GYN services that you may need. They have two office locations: Roswell & Johns Creek and delivery at North Fulton Hospital & Emory Johns Creek hospital.
