This one tree was a monster, maybe 80' tall, and 2.5' diameter at the base. They didn't have to do this for me knowing I couldn't pay in full or even pay much at all. They did it, because they knew it needed to be done. They did it, because they didn't want them to fall on my house or my kids. There aren't too many companies like this out there. Cherish them when you find them. Another company for example told me it would cost almost 3x as much, that they needed specialized equipment, and that they wanted me to take sections of my fence down too... Nelson's? I was resigned to cutting the tree down myself, when the Great Oaks flyer landed in my mailbox. I gave them a call; their staff was friendly and courteous, and their rep showed up to look at the issue promptly and on schedule. Their quote was half what the other guys wanted. The day of the removal they showed up bang on time with lots of equipment and a really professional crew who had this down to a science. The guy who climbed the tree had mad skills; the rest of the crew acted like a well-oiled machine, directing traffic, clearing branches, moving equipment around. I think he gets…read morehimself over his head and then doesn't have that extra something that makes real pros complete the job they signed up for even if it involves a lot more effort than he thought it would take. I wouldn't necessarily vouch for his honesty either. When he failed to coplete the job we agreed on he claimed that we agreed on something else. It's why, unlike others who gave us a proposal, he never offered a written proposal. He also offered an unusually wide difference between cash and a check. I can understand charging extra for credit, but a check?? I wasn't going to argue with him, but, as I told him, I wouldn't hire him again no matter what. I had some good photos to attach, but I had trouble uploading them. I think they are pretty persuasive, but you should have the idea anyway.
