So I went to Tanners with the family and it could have been much better! If you see the picture of my drink, you would say yikes! Food- I ordered the Tanners French dip and it was really bland. I don't even think they gave me the French dip, I don't get any auju? I probably ended up getting the Philly cheesesteak. The meat and cheese felt so stale on my taste buds and the fries looked very unappetizing. I ordered a fountain drink but ended up with something in my drink? Was it gum? Was it styrofoam? Who knows but I ordered a new drink. Service- It took an hour to get a seat, it was busy so I understand but at the same time when we got seated, it took 45 minutes to get our drinks and food ordered. My boyfriend really likes this place, so I decided to give it another try about a year later. With new management. I went on a Sunday morning to get takeout and was disappointed to find they were out of the lobster bites--the main thing I was looking forward to in the appetizer sampler. There were two bartenders working, with about nine guests seated at the bar. When I sat down to place my to-go order, one bartender was deeply engaged in conversation with a couple and didn't acknowledge me at all. Meanwhile, the other bartender was clearly overwhelmed--pouring drinks, delivering food, and managing everything on her own--while it seemed like she could really have used some help. I placed my order and went outside to wait the quoted 10-15 minutes. The location itself is lovely, right on a lake with beautiful views. There's also a tiki bar, a stage for entertainment, and nice porch seating attached to the main restaurant. The bang bang shrimp is always a 10/10. I ordered my boyfriend a Philly, which he really enjoyed. I had a Caesar salad that was very basic and honestly looked like a premade salad kit from Publix. My biggest issue, though, was the takeout presentation of the spinach artichoke dip--it looked like leftovers. Seriously, Chili's would never! When I got home and reheated it, it did taste good, but the container and presentation really need improvement. I'm not sure if I'll give this place another chance. read more

I ordered the sampler for the table because we had a larger group and wanted to wait for everyone to get there before we ordered all of our meals. We chose the grouper, gator and lobster...and OMG what a surprise. The gator seriously one of the best done gator bites I've ever had, if not THEEEEE best! And was beyond ecstatic about the lobster - it was FABULOUS! Then I ordered the grouper, and although it was good, it wasn't as exciting as the lobster and gator. Still, I'd order ALL of those things again.... And the fries were really cool, big spiral-like. And they were very good too! Large restaurant, with a full bar and outside seating right over the water. Our server was not great at checking on us (for drink refills or bringing the check) and they weren't very busy. I ordered the grilled shrimp platter. The shrimp were good but the skewer was so thick you couldn't slide the shrimp off without severing it. The fries were unique and good. The slaw was average. The hush puppies were a huge disappointment. There were 2 - they were small and tasted like stove top stuffing. I think the atmosphere is the best part of this place. read more

WOW! My husband and I went last night 1/10/25 for our anniversary. We sat at the tiki bar and had phenomenal service. The bartenders were attentive and friendly even with a busy patio which the two of them were also in charge of serving. Now onto the food! We split an order of the lobster mac n cheese, oh my goodness it was delicious! Tons of savory tender lobster! Paul came out and personally asked us if we enjoyed our meal. He was professional and took a few minutes away from his busy kitchen to make sure we were satisfied with our food. Talk about quality customer service! I'm always looking for waterfront dining and came across Tanners Lakeside. The restaurant is large and there's a platform where they often have live music, though not today. Inside is a little dark for me, especially when it's a beautiful sunny day, but they have a pool table. Wanting to enjoy the sunny day we went outside to eat. They have a small back deck that sits very close to the water on Lake Howard with about 8-10 umbrella covered tables. There was a baby alligator named "Bubba" that eyeballed us throughout our meal. I was a little concerned that he was going to climb on the deck and demand food. I was watching him watching me the entire time. The lake is also full of beautiful lily pad flowers that I couldn't help but admire. They have a full menu with something for everyone from salads, fish, chicken, steak, and more. The service was ok, but a little slow. We ordered an appetizer of fried gator to share between four of us and it was just enough for a tasting. It was hot and tender and the sauce was a great accompaniment. We also ordered the blackened Grouper Sandwich Served with fries for $13.95. It was cooked perfectly and worth the wait.My mom ordered the Philly Cheese Steak that was slow roasted, thinly sliced prime rib with sautéed peppers and onions topped with a lot of beer cheese. It was served with fries for $10.50. we were at Tanner's for a wedding reception. Absolutely the worst meal. I may have had one that bad but it's been so long I can't remember. We had the prime rib, which was extremely tough cold, frozen vegetables and sticky instant potatoes all served on a plastic plate. Tried Tanner's Lakeside restaurant and theres a few things I am baseing this overall review on. First, the atmosphere feels comfortable. Good music playing in the background but it's kinda loud overall because you have some hustle and bustle going on and people trying to talk. As soon as you walk in, it's a "seat yourself" situation so you're kinda awkward standing there looking at everyone dine while scanning to search for an open table. Then when you do find one, you'll get acknowledged by wait staff but it's about 15-20 minute wait until you get a menu. Our waitress was actually very nice and I know she tried her best. She took our orders, someone brought us our first drinks within a reasonable time but then it took 55 minutes to get our food. We were going to see a wrestling show at the outside area which is why we were fine waiting but if we weren't, I know that we wouldn't have waited. Even though the wait was so long, the food was actually good but not worth an almost hour wait. The waitress appreciated our patience and tried to make things right by giving us 20% off our meal. We will probably give it another try...maybe it was just an off day. The wrestling show they sponsored is what made the night. It was packed and lots of fun. read more

0/10 Tried to eat here, but the tables were full. A waitress said to try the tiki bar outside, but the tables were full as well. Waited about 15-20 minutes and staff didn't clear any empty tables. Found an empty table eventually, back in the corner by the pool table and waited 20 minutes with nobody stopping over. Went to the bar to see if we could just order there and they said no, they could send someone over, but it would be quite awhile for the food. It's not the staffs fault, it's poor management. There should be sections blocked off if they don't have enough staff or they should have a sign out front letting people know that a waitress may stop by in an hour and if they do, it will likely be awhile after you order until you get your food. At least you would know when you walked in and weren't spending time sitting around. read more

Sad to say our friends love this place but we have been twice and the location isn't good or clean. My wife points out that she's tired of sticking to the chairs when you sit down. The condiments I'm on the table are dirty; lack of cleaning and attention. The food, tried fish and chips (I'm just New England area) and their F&C where horrible. How do? Thick greasy batter that was dark brown and overcooked. Overcooked so much it puffed up. When you touched the fish the batter fell off. Ok, so we then gave it another try recently and it was worse! We tried their prime rib and the cut was very thin, like a breakfast steak. Also, the prime rib was almost 50% fat and tough. My wife made a pile out of the fat in the middle of her plate. Service when we went the second time was slow. We had 6 people and had empty glasses that sat in one corner of the table most of the meal because the waitress just ignored them. Was hard to get a refill but the drinks were good at least. Won't go back unless forced at gunpoint. Even then might consider a bullet a step up from our experience at Tanners read more
