Dr. Jones asked about a mole on my cheek that had been bothering me last year, so I explained that I had it removed by another dermatologist a few months after my last appointment with her. I told her the area didn't completely smooth out after being shaved off, but that I wasn't eager to go through another cutting-and-healing process unless there was a less invasive option, like laser. She confirmed there wasn't, and said punching it out might be the best option. Somewhere in the conversation, things seemed to get lost in translation. I said I was tired of dealing with it, and she took that as me agreeing to another procedure. She then told me it would cost $750 since it was cosmetic. I was confused because I never said I wanted a procedure done. After we cleared that up, she responded: "Oh, then why are we even talking about this? We're just wasting our time talking about something you're not interested in treating." Like, I'm sorry--I'M wasting YOUR time?? Talk about RUDE. She had asked about my cheek, and I was simply answering her question. I never said I wasn't interested in improving it--only that I didn't want another surgical cut. That is not an appropriate way to speak to a patient. We continued with the skin exam. She mentioned my scalp looked irritated, so I explained the recent issues I'd had (acne flare-ups, scalp psoriasis, etc.). She listened, but showed no empathy for the stress or frustration I'd been dealing with. Her only response was, "Well, we can do a patch test," which felt more like another upsell than genuine care. Overall, she showed zero concern, and it felt like she was eager to end the appointment once she realized I wasn't planning to spend extra money on treatments or tests. Basically a 50 minute appointment for 5 minutes of the actual "Doctor's time". I gave this place a second chance after my poor experience last year, hoping things would improve. The doctor I previously saw had left Westside Dermatology (in retrospect I can only assume it was to get away from Artnzen). When she walked in the room she didn't even look at my face and at no point even bothered to examine my face. She came in and just arrogantly announced "It's Rosacea." (a misdiagnosis from years before) and then argued with me about how she'd "been doing this for 34 years and she just knows." Welp, she doesn't fucking know. She then proceeded to tell me that there were alternative treatments which I explained have never worked. I had to wait 3 weeks for this appointment to occur in the middle of when I should be asleep for my graveyard shift and this woman wants to argue with me over 100 doxycycline. During this conversation I bring up a potentially permanent solution suggested by my first doctor - this doctor who gets me in my pajamas and raincoat because it's basically the middle of the night for me and raining says "ohh, I wouldn't suggest that treatment, it could expose you to hepatitis." I couldn't for the life of me understand why a skin treatment would expose me to Hep-C. I finally get home and take a nap before my shift and wake up realizing, not only did this shitty arrogant argumentative asshole misdiagnose me without even bothering to look, she *ALSO* accused me of being a fucking heroin junkie! I'm a very tired overworked operations engineer being accused by this self-righteous ignorant judgmental incompetent fool of a doctor of being a drug addled needle user. I then wait an hour in the Costco pharmacy line to receive a prescription for only 30 pills when the prescription was for 100. 100 would last me over a year. Now i get to waste my time 3 times this year and pay more money for a prescription I have been getting for years. She never bothered to look at my medical history, or my file, couldn't be bothered to even examine my skin -- the whole point of forcing me to come in for this appointment -- misdiagnoses not only my skin issues, but then argues about my treatment and then low key accuses me of being a heroin junkie. This is 110% the WORST MEDICAL EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. THIS WOMAN SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE. Icing on the cake? I paid out of pocket for my visit and just got a bill from my old insurance that no longer covers me telling me that I owe $246.00 for this experience.
