Dry stirfryed beef rice noodles - Feels like afternoon tea size. Decent flavour, but still lacking the smoky taste. Hk French Toast - Extra for a layer of peanut butter in the middle. Came with condensed milk on top which is rather unique touch. The batter was rather eggy, and not very crispy, which makes for a dense toast. Chicken wings and fries - Love me some salt and pepper wings. These one were lightly battered so gave a nice bite to the wings. Wings were well seasoned. Came at 4p on a Friday looking for early dinner; we ordered AF7 - Garlic Cumin Lamb Skewers, AF9 - Black Pepper Beef Stir Fried Spaghetti, R13 - Braised Tofu Fish Fillet Rice, and AF8 - Satay Grilled Chicken Skewer. Also grabbed a E4 - Curry Sauce Omurice with Chicken Steak, and AF10 - Stir Fried Beef Flat Noodles for take-out! When discussing the drinks/combos, we got a little confused from the wording on the menu while we were ordering and the waitress serving for us was... lack for a better word, a bitch about it. The server lacked clarity and had a real mean attitude. Was giving off annoyed vibes and expressing it outwardly with their voice and their facial expressions; not sure that's the kind of service you're going for in the hospitality industry. I was trying to get my drink changed to a cold one from the dedicated drink and thought I followed the wording but was wrong. The wording on the menu is specifically for HK style drinks being in a cold form. Not a separate cold drink entirely. That was a simple clarification that would have been appreciated instead of the bickering and back and forth fuelled by annoyance. Out of two servers, one is much more pleasant than the other. Food is excellent. Passes the Chinese parent's standards for the cook of the fish and tofu for R13, as well as the peppery-ness of the AF9. The lamb skewers were phenomenal. Ambiance wise, it was cozy and quiet. Not very busy when we came, there were small groups of under 4 after us but no more than 4 tables total even at 4:30pm. Went for their afternoon tea (230-530) and got the usual hk style toast and beef rice noodle. The hk style toast is only a little crispy on the edges. I paid an additional $0.50 to add peanut butter, but only a third of it had peanut butter... Otherwise it was rather tasty though, so buttery. It's drizzled with lots of condensed milk and a slab of butter on top. If I were to get it again, I wouldn't bother with the peanut butter. The hk style milk tea is okay. Just a teeny bit oversteeped, and subtle tea flavour. The beef rice noodle was not evenly coated (still some white seen from the noodle), and oily. Didn't have 'wok hey' either. Limited beef pieces. Would not get again. Very modern looking inside, I suspect this place is rather new. Service is fine, but not busy at all when we went. There are better places, but I might come back to try their daily special (hainan ch on Monday). read more

Spacious and clean envrionment. Staffs are friendly here. Came here for an early dinner with family at 5pm to order items off their tea time menu (2:30-5:30pm). Ordered the beef brisket soup rice noodle $10.99 (tea time price) and curry beef brisket over rice. I enjoyed the beef brisket quality here, they were soft, tender and a good amount of fat for flavour. Curry has a slight hint of coconut milk and just a hint of spicyness so if you can't handle spicy, you will still be able to enjoy this dish. They have a 30% promo currently so if you pay $70 cash, they will give you $100 coupon to be used at the restaurant so you are basically getting a 30% off for dine in ONLY. Taoyuan Neverland is located inside the Langham Square plaza. The plaza gets pretty busy closer to dinner hours but there are ample parking in the underground parking lot. I ordered the popcorn chicken rice with a classic milk tea with Tapioca. The popcorn chicken rice is $12.99 and $3 for a regular sized drink. The portion is quite good for the price. Popcorn chicken is decent and comes freshly made. The rice is a little dry. Would be better if it comes with more meat sauce. For the price, I think it's not bad though. We were going to try another HK cafe across the street but it was small seating and quite pack, so we came by here as there was more seating and the options here are quite a bit too. Here was what we ordered.. Stir Fried Beef Flat Rice Noodles- $11 - traditional taste but not really finding the 'wok hay', but the beef slice was a bit thicker than normal. The sauce wasn't as dark as normal too Braised Tofu Fish Rice- $14 - Unsure what fish it was, but this type of dish my wife enjoys. Enoki Mushroom w/ AAA Beef roll w/ Omurice- $19 - This is one of their pricier dishes, but it was tasty. Though the egg was a bit undercooked on certain sides, but it was a nice blend of meat, egg and rice. Meals come with hot beverage free but if you upgrade its $1.50 more. During this pandemic, one of my pastimes that I have picked up is browsing food apps to decide where I should go to get takeout. Last week, I was looking at my Uber Eats app and noticed that Taoyuan Neverland had a $6 promotion on a couple of items. I did a double-take to see if I was losing my mind. Nope, it was correct. I took advantage of it last Wednesday night. I got the General Tso chicken on rice and the cheesy baked bolognese spaghetti. Each one was indeed $6. This eatery offers Taiwanese and Hong Kong-style dishes. The dishes listed on the menu are extensive. Here's a crazy fact. It takes me roughly six minutes to drive from my home to this place, which is at Langham Square. Have I ever been to this mall before? Nope. Well, I broke this streak at long last. So, there! As usual, when I am getting great deals like these two meals, I feel the need to get something else. Taoyuan Neverland also offers ZenQ bubble tea. The only ZenQ place that I have frequented was the store in downtown Mississauga. I could never find my go-to drink the three visits that I had made there. I got to Langham Square and figured out that this eatery is outside on the second floor. I needed to drive up a shallow ramp to get there. The parking lot is not designed well. Markhamites tend to be poor drivers in general (I need to exclude myself, as I'm a transplant from Toronto, so I know better). Starting them off with a crazy intersection on a ramp incline is horrible! I managed to avoid the confusion that this intersection had brought to two vehicles and got to the eatery. I backed into a parking spot. This mall was pretty dead at around 7 pm on a Wednesday night. However, there was steady business at Taoyuan Neverland, which made me happy. I walked in and said hi to a cheerful woman. I said that I had an Uber Eats order and rattled off the last four digits of my order number. She happily handed a plastic ba with my goodies to me. I thanked her. She reciprocated. I walked out. Sadly, when I placed my food in the backseat of my car, it did take a side tumble. When I corrected my takeout package, everything was intact. There was no sauce spillage. I was highly impressed. I drove home and had dinner. I didn't eat everything. Rather, I had half of each dish for dinner and had the leftovers the following day. Let's start with the bubble tea. The fourth time at ZenQ was the charm. I ordered a large peach iced tea, with no sugar and less ice. It was refreshing, the tea was done just right, the flavours were perfect, and I was a happy camper. I went with the General Tso chicken. I learned from a documentary years ago that General Tso isn't a real guy in history. Anyway, this dish had a hot pepper next to it on the menu. The sauce was sweet and tangy. I didn't taste any heat. I am so used to Hakka food that it didn't have enough heat that I am now used to. It was too sweet. Still, I enjoyed how tender the chicken was. It came with a lot of rice. I couldn't eat all of it. I used the remaining rice to make fried rice, which turned out well. The rice here is good. You simply get a ton of it. I loved the cheesy baked bolognese spaghetti. Spaghetti is comfort food to me. it had the perfect combination of bolognese sauce with the spaghetti and cheese goodness on top. The spaghetti was al dente. I enjoyed how yummy it was. I loved it. It tasted even better the following day. Its regular price is $12. I'd be happy shelling out for full price. The portions here are generous. I am a fan. I will definitely come back to try more items off the menu. It's nice that I can get bubble tea and a good meal at one eatery. (16) read more

Friday was Jennifer K's birthday and I offered to take her out for lunch, her choice of place. She chose modestly, Taoyuan Neverland, a relatively new place in Markham. Neither one of us had been there before. Apparently, they're associated with ZenQ. I didn't know that and actually walked into the wrong place initially. After looking over the menu for a few minutes, we ordered a noodle soup with BBQ duck and a curry beef brisket with rice, both for sharing. It didn't take long to show up. While the presentation could have used a little work, both dishes had good flavour. They both had a casual and rustic feel to them, especially the brisket. By nature, it's a rustic looking dish anyway. It tasted good, rich with flavour. The soup had meaty pieces of duck breast, which was very much appreciated, along with noodles, and some veggies to make it balanced. Very good. Perhaps I should not have ordered Malaysian specialties at a Taiwanese restaurant?? 1st I ordered Malaysian chicken but got beef instead.. Taoyuan Neverland is a Taiwanese cafe that also offers some HK cafe favourites. It is located in the Langham Square plaza, at the same location that ZenQ occupied. The restaurant has a clean, modern vibe with a decent amount of seating and a wheelchair accessible washroom. Taoyuan Neverland has a much more extensive menu than the previous ZenQ offered, but the same selection of bubble teas and drinks are available. They have a pretty good lunch special menu, where for $10-$13 you can get a main and a drink. I came here on a Wednesday night with my niece and nephew. My niece ordered popcorn chicken with rice which came with some pickled greens and steamed broccoli. The popcorn chicken pieces were sizeable and well seasoned without being overly salty. My nephew had the shredded chicken noodle soup. It came in a large bowl with some steamed yu choy and tomatoes. There was a lot of chicken and noodles in the soup. My nephew devoured more than half the bowl. I ordered the pan seared beef with rice. It came with a runny sunny side up egg and broccoli. I quite enjoyed the beef and the sauce it was served with. Just wish the egg was less runny. Taoyuan Neverland is a great new cafe that offers a great selection of Taiwanese and HK style cuisine. Pros: Extensive menu Everything from Zen Q is also available Cons: Portion sizes could be better My family has always been a fan of Zen Q. They offered a couple of entrees and snacks but I would never consider them a full on restaurant to bring the family to. Taoyuan Neverland fixes all that. Combining with Zen Q into one location, it offers the same great items that Zen Q offered with a whole new level of options for dining in as well. Taoyuan Neverland is not the biggest space. They do manage to fit in as many seats as possible. It's a little tight in some areas, but you can maneuver around OK as long as you're careful. This place is pretty packed during peak hours, so come prepared for a little wait if you come during those times. Taoyuan Neverland's menu is as extensive as any HK style cafe menu I have ever seen. There's also a plethora of Taiwanese style entrees as well. They also have a good amount of specials throughout the day. They had so much to offer than I had a pickle of time deciding what I wanted to order. The prices are all pretty in line with what you expect. Food comes out pretty quickly after you order it. In terms of comparing it against Zen Q in the past, it's much better. I never liked the noodles at Zen Q before. The noodles now offered are better. It's not the best you'll ever find, but it's up there with all the other HK style cafes. All the drinks you've had at Zen Q are still here so you get the best of both worlds. My only gripe was the portion sizes. They were on the smaller side, though I am a big eater. Zen Q was never in my thoughts as a dining option. With Taoyuan Neverland, I can now definitely put it up there for eating out. read more

After ZenQ's renovation, they reopened jointly with the new name and updated decor. This restaurant has a really big variety in the menu, covering everything from Taiwanese, HK cafe style, to South East Asian style while continuing to carry the desserts and drinks from ZenQ. We ordered a cheesy Bolognese spaghetti combo which includes the meal and a drink, and appetizer of popcorn chicken and an extra tofu pudding drink with tapioca. I would definitely recommend the tofu drink, it's unique and one of my favourite bubble teas. The popcorn chicken was crispy and the spaghetti was very homey. I was quite surprised by this place in all aspects. From the outside it looked small but it fairly spacious with a decent amount of seating. It was a full house during lunch hours on a Saturday but did ot have to wait long for a seat. Ordered a baked pork chop with tomatoe sauce on spaghetti $11.99. Food came within 5 to 10 minutes which suprised me. I was thinking since it came so fast that maybe the food preparation was just rushed. However, once again it was above my expectations. The sauce was sweet just how I liked it. The pork chop was really tender and the spaghetti was cooked just right. So overall, everything was done well here.
