Ordered through ubereat delivery. Had their spaghetti meat sauce and char siu rice. Both were delicious and well made! Plenty of options to choose from. Wished we had time to visit the actual restaurant in person. Next time!
Super convenient HK cafe location if you're shopping at Fairview. There is usually a queue, but you can join the waitlist and keep shopping until you get your text notification that your table is ready. They have a pretty expansive menu with all the standard HK Cafe items. Food is standard and portion sizes are good. Pricing is reasonable. They also don't charge extra for cold drinks with their set meals (which most HK cafes do).
Located conveniently in Fairview Mall close to the T&T entrance. Wait time is reasonable and easy system where you add yourself to the waitlist. This is your typical HK Style cafe with a lot of options including rice, noodles and baked casserole dishes as well. If you're seated inside the restaurant there's a QR code where you can order food. Quick and efficient. Ordered the Rice with seafood and creamy sauce and portion was very generous! Fish and beef balls with curry sauce is a great appetizer or snack - perfect for sharing! Lemon tea was disappointing and probably would not order again. Overall, food was consistent in the many times I've dined here and service is average at best. It is better when seated inside but outside, server's were less attentive. This Hong Kong café has a large menu with all the usual HK-style staples baked rice dishes, noodle soups, milk tea, and snacks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's lots of seating available, and it's connected directly to the mall (no separate street entrance), which makes it convenient if you're already shopping.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is pretty loud in there since its attached to the mall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was typical and decent quality -- nothing to rave about. It is comfort food and fills you up. Service was okay, though I did have to ask for water several times, and my order took longer than expected until I learned that baked items take extra time to prepare. Overall, it was an okay experience. I'd probably come back if I was already at the mall, but wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

Every dish I've ordered has been delicious, and so I'll keep coming back. What's also nice is that I've never had to wait for a seat, which is not a common experience for other HK cafes in the area. My gf and I had just finished walking around Fairview and as it was around dinner time, decided to hop in to this Good Catch location. It's pretty much identical to the one on Enterprise Blvd in Markham. The only reason I'm keeping my rating at a 4 stars is the baked curry beef brisket rice (which comes w/ a fried rice base) and the HK milk tea. The curry has a lot of flavour and there's a quite a bit of meat running through the dish. The brisket is always tender. I haven't received tough meat yet, thank God. We tried something new and ordered the tomato bisque noodle soup w/ scrambled egg which came with our choice of protein. We opted for fried pork chop. This broth really wasn't that great. It was too sweet. To each their own ofc. Maybe some folks prefer their tomato broth a lil more on the sweet side, but both my gf and I prefer ours a lot more savoury and slightly more acidic. The scrambled egg was cooked well. Didn't really care for the fried enoki mushrooms scattered on the edge. Oh yea, they have cutlet pork chop and then fried pork chop listed under it. They should just call the cutlet one "deep fried pork cutlet" and the 2nd item "pan fried pork chop" as I find that to be confusing for customers. Also, we ordered the pan fried option but it ended up still being breaded??? LOL so that was interesting. Would definitely skip the tomato broth noodles next time and try something else. Service is not as cheerful as the wait staff at the Markham location yet they seem to know what they're doing more than their counterparts.
This is a Cha Chaan Teng (HK Cafe) located in Fairview Mall. There's ample seating inside and outside. Order: Baked Black Pepper Chicken Steak with Cold Lemon Tea. Good: rice slightly undercooked (the best), good amount of melted cheese, juicy chicken steak, very peppery sauce. Lemon Tea was average. The only knock for me was that the sauce was a bit sweet for my taste. Overall it was a good meal and I'd come back.

It had a good curry flavour but the sauce was on the oily side. I wasn't a fan of the meat, it was pretty fatty and grissly. My instictint was just to order just curry beef but the server recommended the brisket out of the two. the meal came with a drink as part of the dinner special, but you can order just the meal on its own. I got the HK style milk tea which was good. If I had to choose, I would probably choose Phenonix (Steeles/404) over this place for HK style western food but for what it was it was ok. I woul dcome back to try another dish to see but I won't rush back *3.5

We came here when we stopped by at Fairview mall. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is fairly large for a restaurant inside the mall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was so authentic and yummy. We enjoyed every bite of it. Their service was super quick too. One thing I do suggest is getting the cold hk milk tea over the hot hk milk tea. It tasted better cold.
Had a great time here. Got the curry beef with rice and baked pork tomato with cheese. The entree came with a free drink of choice and was pretty affordable. I think around $15-17 for most items. The tomato sauce is on the sweeter side but I enjoyed the pork. Would recommend and will come back
My friend (who used to live in Hong Kong) picked this place to meet for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I have not heard of this place before, so I was looking forward to catching up with my friend and trying their dishes. Once we entered, we were greeted warmly by one of the staff. As we wanted to have a quieter experience, we asked for the seating at the back (behind a long panel). Our waiter was a fiendly young man who welcomed us and gave us the menu. After a few minutes, we were ready and we ordered two items: Prawn and Truffle Scrambled Eggs on Rice and Hong Kong Style Curry with Vegetables and Egg (replaced rice with spaghetti noodles). We were informed that each order comes with a drink of choice, so both of us ordered Hong Kong Milk Tea (hot). We shared our orders- each dish was delicious. The Hong Kong Milk Tea (hot) was fresh but it was a bit too bitter. I usually drink my tea bitter, but this milk tea was a bit too stong for me. Despite this, we enjoyed our meal. During our meal, our waiter came by a few times to check-in on us. He made sure that our cold water was filled, there were enough napkins, and to make sure that we were enjoying our meal. Friendly service, delicious food, and good location! A tasty way to begin your new year! Tip: - This place gets busy fast, so show up early (a few minutes before it opens at 11 a.m. or around 11:30 a.m.) to make sure that you don't wait in line for lunch.
We've been to other locations but first time at this mall location. When you enter the address to the store from yelp, it brings you to the mall entrance instead of the restaurant. The closest parking is actually near the T&T market side. When you enter, there are a number of inside restaurants. The food is convenient when you order through the app. The Portuguese chicken rice don't have as much coconut flavor as I've liked. The peppercorn steak was very salty and saucy. I wish they had a choice to rave sauce on the side. The pineapple bun is always spot on although probably doesn't need the whole 10g of butter slice ( though it's pretty much expected in HK style). The drinks were spot on HK style milk tea

Food portions are large. Service is friendly and fast. But the server gave my order to another table and I had to wait longer for them to re make it. Pork chop on rice uses a marinara sauce rather than the classic Chinese tomato sauce. Overall an ok meal and would go back for other dishes. Casual dining restaurant hk cafe style. SUPER GOOD food here. The pineapple bun with egg snd satayed beef was decent, but the porkchop with curry over rice was fantastic. That dish has been the best dish I've eaten in Toronto so far. Service was great. Very polite and helpful staff! read more
I have a soft spot for HK cafes as it means comfort food in quantity and great milk teas that can wake you up with no problems. I had my favourite dish for dinner, the baked beef tongue with rice which came with an included hot or cold milk tea. The dish was really good, hot and comforting with large slabs of tongue under the baked sauce. There was one beef peice that was too chewy and inedible but everything thing else was good. Really good milk teas. Will definitely be back! read more

I've always been a huge fan of Good Catch at the Markham location. I'm so glad that they opened a 2nd location at Fairview Mall! It is conveniently located across from T&T. The wait time wasn't so bad; their table turnover is pretty quick. Simply check in at the kiosk for a number, and staff will text you when the table is ready! So happy that good catch cafe has a new location inside of Fairview Mall now! For their soft opening they're offering 10% cash discount. All of their set meals and mains come with a drink! Service was great, we called them over for a few things and they were all very nice. It wasn't too busy on a weekday lunch but I can imagine it being crazy on the weekend. I love the decor and wall paper inside! And it's very bright. Even though we came for lunch on a weekday, there was still a wait. Make sure to use the machine to get a place in line and wait to be notified when there's a table available for you. The menu prices seem higher than the first location in Markham. Perhaps I haven't had instant noodle dishes at many other HK-style cafés, but $15+ seems quite high. The staff are friendly, service is quick, and they're able to take your order if scanning the QR code to order online doesn't work for you. Food doesn't take long after ordering, unless it's noted on the menu that it takes a certain amount of time to make. I like that a drink is included with most of the menu items and that there isn't an additional charge for cold drinks. read more
Located inside Fairview mall, across from T&T. We came on a Saturday and had to wait about 20 mins. Tried the thick vermicelli with 2 items scrambled egg in tomato soup. They had a list of few items to choose from. Chose fish ball/beef ball and spam. Soup was nice strong and garlicky. Egg was nice and smooth. The only complaint was the fried thingy they included as a garnish. It wasn't crispy at all, more on the stale side. Overall service was great and enjoyed the food. Def worth a try! read more

I ordered the A01 set which comes with a drink (i chose hot water with lemon), satay beef with vermicelli (altered for instant noodles), in soup with ham omlette and sweet bread (sweet roll). $13.99 + $2.65 extra for the change in noodles. Overall, more bland than flavourful. It'd have been nice if they had salt and pepper at the table so patrons can season the foods to their preference. Quick service. This is cool versatile restaurant which offers different types of Chinese food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is like a typical bar with screens so the ambiance is very unique.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is attached to a smaller restaurant area off to the side. They offer not only boil and typical Chinese but also HK cafe food. I went for the HK cafe food and it did not disappoint! Food was great I would definitely come back again. Another great addition to the HK style cafe in Toronto. Truffle flavoured baked sets aren't that common for this type of restaurant so I ordered the Chicken with creamy truffle sauce. It definitely had a good truffle aroma and an appropriate amount of cheese was added. No issues with the rice either. The HK milk tea is decent as well, though I would recommend adding extra milk. The size of the dishes are quite generous, so be prepare to bring some back home if you're not hungry. Overall, while the food is not the best compared to other HK cafes, this is above average and worth trying. Staff was very friendly and served quickly, so the wait time is not too long. In terms of the seating, this is ideal for a casual couple or small 4 people get together to eat. I would definitely consider coming here again. read more

I always wanted to try @goodcatchcafe for the longest time and they recently opened a location in Fairview Mall. I was excited to try their food especially when I'm a big fan of HK style cafe food. We got the Baked Curry Beef Brisket w/ Rice and Baked Chicken with Creamy Truffle Sauce w/ Spaghetti. Both were okay. The beef brisket meat was good, soft and nicely falls apart. The curry itself was okay. It was a little bit lacking. It didn't have that wow factor. I've had better baked curry dishes. The baked chicken with creamy truffle sauce was not that good. For some reason it was a bit too sweet. We added some of the curry from the fish and beef balls to balance out the sweetness. The Fish & Beef balls were okay. They were warmish when we got them. We would have liked them if they were hotter. I think they use the same curry for all their dishes because the curry for the balls was mediocre. We had to ask utensils and tableware like cups and chopsticks where those were the first things they put on the table, besides the men, at surrounding tables. Overall, the food was 2.5/5. I was really looking forward to the food but it was a big disappointment for me. The service was 3/5. For us, for the chopsticks and stuff after the food was served; it should have been there before the food came. Would I come back here? Probably not. read more

The service was alright, and the fact that cold drinks don't cost extra and are baked into the meals is cool. I just didn't think the food itself was that great. Maybe it's just what I ate, but the truffle in the sauce really threw off everything for the meal, and the rice wasn't fried rice, or at least if they did fry the rice it was probably done with fresh rice instead of overnight frozen rice because the rice was very soft and wet, which isn't what you expect from fried rice for baked dishes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Would I come again? Well it's a decent location and convenient if I'm shopping at Fairview, drink was fine and service was ok, price is average.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'll give it another try and maybe order something else, maybe I just hate truffles. read more
I AM STILL DREAMING OF THE BAKED PORK CHOP RICE WITH TOMATO SAUCE. I went here on a Monday, but it was their Civic Holiday so techincally it is as busy as if it were the weekend. We went around 2pm and still had to wait 15 minutes for a table, which speaks to the popularity and quality of the place, proven by the food here. I got some HK style cafe staples like the curry fish balls, curry brisket with rice, BBQ pork with eggs with rice, and baked pork chop rice with tomato sauce. Food came out surprisingly fast upon ordering. The curry fish balls were slightly spicy but on par with the good ones I had in LA. Curry brisket was good - the brisket is tender though a little bit on the fattier side, but the meat is well seasoned. The curry could have a bit more spice, but the HK style curries don't pack with spices to begin with; just my preference. The BBQ pork rice is good but the pork is a bit on the fattier side. It would have been great if they have more meat like the curry brisket, to make the dish more balanced. The baked pork chop rice with tomato sauce is probably the best I have tried. The pork chop is still lightly crispy even when baked inside the sauce and rice. The rice itself is flavorful, combining with the tomato sauce and eggs. I called dibs on the leftovers since it was that good - I willingly made a sacrifice on going to another restaurant the following day just so I can eat more of the baked pork chop rice from here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is very much matching with a Hong Kong style cafe experiment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As for the food, I ordered the Bbq Pork Scrambled egg rice and the ox tongue tomato sauce double cheese baked rice. For drink, we could order the pickled lime seven up. The ordering was using the app and it was efficient with lot of customizations . They have complimentary drinks before 5:30pm and for some reason available over weekend too, contrary to the menu. I would say, the pickled lime seven up is rare in Canada and tastes good. The ox tongue rice tastes very good with the ox tongue flavor there too, which often time hard to get one who could have fresh ox tongue taste. Often time the ox tongue tastes got masked by fridge smell. And at the price, with such thick cut tongue this is a steal. However, I am disappointed by the bbq pork scramble egg rice. That is a dish I most longed to eat due to nostalgic reason. This is priced expensive for a price only one or two dollars cheaper than the ox tongue. However, the bbq pork was very thinly sliced, and the egg was all colored brown and in very low volume. This is a dish that could have been so tasty but this is very disappointing. The onion oil was not flavorful, the pork was in small amount. The eggs were not yellow and in such low amount. Yet this is an item that the menu gave recommendations to. And the menu is full of items with scramble egg. So, I would question the other items with scramble eggs as well. read more

Finally a worthy HK style cafe in Toronto! New Fairview mall location offering both takeout and dine in. Menu is HK style fast food favorites. Lots of options for quick eats. Automatic number for wait list and order by QR code once seated. Tried the curry fish and beef balls, tomato bisque noodle with pan fried chicken l, Portuguese chicken baked rice and bolognese spaghetti/baked chicken tomato rice combo. The main meals come with choice of tea or cofee which is nice add for iced drinks. Taste is expected for HK style food. Service is fast and friendly. Would like to see more menu items. Good option in the area for take out and casual quick dining. read more
Highly recommend coming to this location for their HK Style Tomato Beef Macaroni (can choose up to 2 toppings + upgrade to combo with a drink), this is definitely COMFORT!We ordered Portuguese Rice Casserole (upper left in my photo) & Twin Casserole with half spaghetti + half rice (upper right) & finally my FAVE, their Tomato Macaroni Soup with 2 toppings for you to choose from their available items list (we picked fish tofu & beef). Service was efficient, Staff were friendly! The menu had enough items to convince me to come back again.
