Came here to try their deep fried chicken legs as many people recommended it online. It is just so so for me and tasteless. The chicken skin is very crispy which is good... that's it! Maybe they can add an item about deep fried chicken skin.

I'm a big fan of HK cafes and this is one of them. The food is delicious, on point. It gives an authentic flavor. Portion and prices are pretty decent compared to other places. The service is efficient, waitresses were friendly. Would definitely be coming back. Highly recommend trying this place.

Support small and local businesses, particularly the great ones that offer good food! This one is located in Newmarket and we went by after an event. We decided to check this out as people have been talking about it. It's a small cozy cafe that provides quick service. We picked a couple of classics from the menu. Both the satay beef instant noodles and the pineapple butter bun (BLB) are very traditional HK-style comfort food. Nicely done with good flavor! The BLB was warm with a slight crisp on the surface. The salted butter slice was a thick cut. A bit oily but not too crazy. Good size and it comes with a cup of drink of your choice. Great value and tasty! Recommend stopping by and grab a quick bite if you go to Newmarket next time.

I wanted to try a different place and this piqued my interest because it has Hong Kong Cafe cafe vibes. I ordered takeout but went here to pick it up. Ambiance - 4/5: there was a decent amount of parking. When you go in, it is definitely a tiny place. There's not a lot of tables and seats. There's Hong Kong diner style LED light for the store name as well different artworks of Hong Kong. The place was packed when we went. Service - 3.75/5: I'm a little mixed. When I ordered on the phone, I was surprised that there's only 1 type of soup. We could only choose the drink - hot tea/coffee/lemon water or lemon tea. They told me not to come yet and that food would take 20 minutes to prepare. It took us 30 minutes to drive and we still had to wait another 10 minutes. The server initially gave me the receipt with a cash discount. But when I said I didn't have enough, she quickly took the receipt away so I didn't get a good look at it. I think it's roughly a 10% discount. They only accept debit or cash for payment options. We sat close to the door after we were told to keep waiting. Mutiple servers asked us if we were waiting for a table. We told them we were waiting for takeout. When the food was ready, the server was reluctant to give us the food. We has to explain that my husband and I are together. Food - 4/5: we got the Double Cheese Baked Pork Chop With Tomato Sauce on Fried Rice and Ginger and Onion Oil with Chicken Cutlet on Rice as well as 2 cups of hot milk tea with sugar in them (they ask us if we wanted sugar added over the phone). The soup was not bad - pork and chicken bones/chicken feet. It wasn't that salty. The soup portion was tiny (probably the size of a Jollibee's gravy cup). What's interesting is that if you dine in, the soup is provided in a cup (literally). The takeout Hong Kong milk tea is smaller than other cafes. The baked rice dish was fine, very saucy. The tomato sauce was on the sour side but tolerable. The chicken was good. It also comes with egg and broccoli x 2 pieces. Overall, both were big portions of food. On a side note, we saw one of the ladies making the red bean ice cream drink and we were tempted to get one on the spot. It looked good but not that big of a glass. Overall: 4/5 - I might stick to takeout. I can see the place potentially getting hot dining in because there is no air conditioning, just a small fan at the front door

This Hong Kong cafe is rather small & cramped - even on a Friday at lunch it was full with a lineup (I returned another day). It occupies the area Caribbean Street Grill used to be. They get 4.5 stars. Chicken wings were good - fresh, crispy & with the nice ginger taste of jardoo wings. They were bigger than usual for Asian wings. Sizzle plate pork chop, chicken, & fish fillet on spaghetti was good value & there was lots of protein. The black pepper sauce was decent but was insufficient to coat everything on the hotplate (especially the potatoes & vegetables). All 3 proteins were good & the fried fish was crispy & not too low grade. The spaghetti was rather dry but I tossed it in the drippings & it was ok. The soup that came with it was a bit dilute, but decent; oddly, it was served in a cup. The Hong Kong cold milk tea that came with it was the usual tannic drink, though more dilute than usual.

Solid 3.5 stars. Located off Bayview just north of Mulock. It is located within the Tim Horton's plaza. Parking is tight out front but plenty of parking in the larger lot beside Timmy's. There is plenty of seating in the alcove or directly beside the half open kitchen concept. Service is quick. Had the baked Portuguese beef brisket and the ginger onion beef stir fry over rice. Both comes with daily soup and a hot beverage (HK tea or coffee - other selections available for a nominal upgrade) The baked Portuguese rice sauce was nice and flavourful ontop of the egg fried rice base. The beef brisket was a little over braised but still had good flavour but the fried potatoes were a little disappointing as they tasted stale. The ginger onion beef over rice was a-ok with a very generous serving. The sauce was a tad salty but yummy none the less. Big plus for the complimentary daily soup (wish there was a choice of Chinese/ western but do appreciate the soup none the less) The milk tea was quite nice with a rich taste and smooth finish. Definitely a good spot to visit in NM.

It was my first time at this location and although it didn't seem as busy as the Richmond Hill location there was a bit of a wait even close to 8pm. The food portions are generous and prices are reasonable. I think it's a solid HK cafe in the area, especially given there aren't that many others close by.

Service: 4/5 Food: 2/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 This was my second time coming to this restaurant with my parents. The first time was pretty good so we decided to go again. The first time we ate dinner there, so we decided to go at lunch on a holiday. The location is a bit small and cramped especially when there's a full house. When we got there, we saw a long line of people waiting awkwardly inside which made the cramped space even more cramped. Luckily we got a spot pretty quickly. The food this time was very disappointing. I have to preface that my parents are very critical Hong Kong born and raised people so their judgment of the food was a lot harsher than mine. Since we tried the sizzling plates last time, we decided to try their usual menu this time. My mom ordered the double cheese meat and tomato sauce spaghetti. The toppings were scarce and the taste was bland, other than the top layer of cheese and minced, the rest was just dried pasta. My mom had to borrow some of my dad's leftover curry sauce to finish her spaghetti. I ordered the cream sauce spaghetti. Now unlike my mom's tomato sauce mind was swimming in sauce, literally. The thickness you expect from regular cream sauce wasn't there, the whole thing felt watery and not enough cheese. My dad said that the beef brisket was pretty soft and good though the sauce lacked curry flavor and spice. Overall very disappointing and seeing as we drove quite a far distance to go there, we will likely not be going back.

Came here a year later and I don't necessarily think it has improved. Initially gave it a four star because of the limited options here in Newmarket but since then there's new hk style restaurants opened. This time we ordered a cheese baked tomato pork chop rice 13.99 and deep fried chicken wings with egg and pasta $13.99 from the lunch menu. The pork chop rice tastes alright but too much rice, too many bones on the pork chop and not enough sauce. Also the fried rice wasn't fried properly, and so there's white chunk lump together. The cheese on the rice smells very good though. For the pasta, also could use more sauce. The broccoli doesn't have the brightest green so look less appetizing. However the chicken wings were great with good seasoning and piping hot. There's soup that come with the lunch meal but there isn't a choice of Chinese soup or borscht. They just gave us Chinese soup. Staff could be more friendly. They are still a very busy place despite the fact that the food is mediocre and the seating environment isn't the nicest. I much prefer Pine house or Golden harbor where food taste better and staff more friendly. Also taking cash and debit only unlike other similar restaurants.

The cafe is located in the strip plaza beside Tim Hortons. It's a little hidden if you don't know where you are going. Authentic Hong Kong style Borscht soup served in a cup - not too spicy nor sour. It is very rich with beef flavour. The assorted steak combo served in a hot sizzling plate is large in portion and taste great. HK Milk tea tastes just like the ones in Hong Kong.

Arrived right at 2:30pm thinking there would be less people on a Monday but nope - it was packed! Ordered the double cheese baked spaghetti with meat sauce (which took quite some time), black pepper beef spaghetti, iced lemon tea and hot milk tea. The lemon tea was really good, probably coz it was quite humid yesterday. The black pepper beef spaghetti was excellent and loads of ingredients! The double cheese was also very flavorful. Service wasn't too bad but food did take some time especially soup noodles and baked dishes. Still my fav cha chan tang in newmarket!

I actually live 30 minutes drive away from O'Street Cafe. But this is already my second time here since they open. Service is friendly and excellent. They are very nice and accommodating in a sense that if you arrive earlier then the dinner menu starts (dinner menu is from 5:30pm-8:00pm daily) we were able to order off the dinner menu. I had the satay beef vermicelli and egg sandwich including a drink for $9.99. (Hot drinks not additional charge but cold drinks additional $1.00-2.00) Special combos from 11:00am-8:00pm daily. They serve sizzling plates, steak serving on a sizzling plate with the option of rice or spaghetti and vegetables on the side. Hard to find these days and only for $24.99! I wish they are located closer to my home, so wanted to say people who live around here are lucky to have them around. But I will come back to try other items such as the fishballs vermicelli noodle in soup.

We ended up getting the ham macaroni soup with a cheese ham sandwich combo, along with the O Street signature beef sandwich and fries from their new menu. Despite how busy it was on a Saturday, the food came out at a pretty reasonable speed, which I appreciated. The macaroni soup was just okay, very much the kind of simple comfort food that fills you up, but nothing especially memorable. I was most excited for the signature beef sandwich, but it didn't fully meet my expectations. The burger/sandwich itself was smaller than I imagined, and it only had about 2-3 pieces of beef brisket inside with marinated bell peppers and their homemade sauce. The sauce leaned sweeter than expected, which might work for some people, but personally I was hoping for something more savoury and more generous with the beef. However, the brisket was tender, which was a win... ish. Overall, still a decent spot if you're craving classic HK cafe vibes and variety, especially for a casual meal with family.

Fried Rice Noodle with bbq pork (they were out of normal pork): scrambled egg sauce was unusually eggy. There was a nice smoky flavour & the noodles were slightly fried. The toppings were simple with only egg, pork & green onion. Egg bean curd and gluten in sa cha sauce on sizzling hot plate was not on a sizzling plate. They slightly increased the price and changed the menu for the combo sets which is fine in this inflationary environment however did anyone also notice that they exclude the rice from the combo sets too? I made a take out order of the combo set and went in to pick up (which they were late and it's not even half full in the restaurant on a Sat night). After paying, I waited for my order. And when the order was almost ready, suddenly a staff told me, rice is no longer included in the combo sets, and asked if I want to order rice. I was like wtf I have never heard of Chinese combo sets that exclude rice and more importantly shouldn't they ask me earlier if I want to pay extra for the rice when I placed my order? So while the food here isn't bad with quite a lot of different options, such experience made me wonder how honest they are when they run this restaurant. Probably wouldn't go again. On the food itself: - salt and pepper deep fried fish was on the combo sets before but not anymore and that's the dish I liked the first time. Flaky bite size fish fillet that can satisfy your desire for deep fried food. - gai lan satay beef. No satay taste at all. - sweet and sour pork, pretty good with fresh pineapple and not too too thick batter. - curry, like the taste of it, and the beef brisket was tender but prefer some more other veggies such as bell peppers and carrots. - bitter melon with pork ribs. Bitter melon too thick so it's slightly on the bitter side. - beef with mushroom and onions. Not enough wok hey.
