We've been to this place 2 times. The 1st time we ate inside & the 2nd we used the drive-thru to pick up our to-go order. Our 1st visit was around dinner time and the place was packed. We were worried about finding a table for a family of 4 since the main seating area is not the largest & it was really busy. But a table cleared right after we ordered so it worked out. The service was warm and friendly. They have a good selection of food - we wanted to try so many things. I had the chicken, barbacoa, and al pastor tacos. My wife tried the vegetartian tacos. Our kids ordered the asada baked potato and the asada nachos. Everything was delicious and tasted authentic. We've eaten many good meals in Mexico and this food tasted as good & possibly better! It's been a while since we've been this excited and satisfied while eating a meal - everyone was so quiet devouring their food. Just driving up to the restaurant you can catch the awesome scent of delicious food working up your hunger. There's so much to like about this place. The workers are friendly. There's an app you can use to order ahead & have ready to pick up using the drive through. They have an awesome menu & delicious food. The churros & agua fresca are great. The main area is family-friendly, but there is a bar/more lively indoor area & outdoor seating where you can hang out with your friends while having drinks and good food. There is an energetic happy vibe here. We have added this restaurant as one of our top go-to places when we go out to eat. Our kids get excited when we tell them that we're going to eat here! There are two sections: one for the full bar and sports watchers and the other for families, both with the great food. You have a variety of meats you can top tacos, quesadillas, nachos, and papas; all served up with speed and a smile. They are willing to make your personally requested adjustments to fit your needs. They have all the standard drinks, and also traditional horchatas and agua de jamaica (sweet and not very strong). I'm so disappointed, for years I have regularly been eating here and today,we threw our food away and left, it was just awful. The tortillas were thin and dry, the fish tacos tasted like they sat out all day they had an overly fishy taste.The pastor was overly salty, tough and dry, the asada was also dry and had a burnt taste,and the nachos didn't have enough cheese. All in all just a bad experience. I would have been better off eating at Taco Bell. Sadly I can't recommend this place anymore. read more

Tap N Taco is probably one of the best tacos joint I ever visited in the greater ABQ area. It's a little put of the way for me towards Rio Rancho, but what I loved about the place was the expansive space (you could sit indoors and outdoor) and the super reasonably priced and tasty variety of tacos that you can order! Lots of parking spots and a great place to hang out casually with friends for sure. It does get busy so you may have to wait in line to order and pay at a cashier. I love Tap N Taco so much it's not even funny. The tacos are all $2 but with their size and quality I would pay whatever they wanted for them. They have the best fish and barbacoa tacos, and a drive through to pick everything up. I do suggest going inside, because not only do they have a HUGE salsa bar, but you can mod your items to your liking. I have tried pretty much everything, but my tops are as follows: a barbacoa quesadilla add grilled onions and sour cream and a few fish tacos mmmm I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!! From the person making your food (right in front of you may I add!), to the cashier, to the bartenders you couldn't have nicer employees. The agua de jamaica is perfect, and their micheladas and cocktails? Don't get me started. Who doesn't like $2 street tacos. It was our first time coming here. A friend of ours said food here is really good. We ordered different tacos, a quesadilla, and the baked potato. Their El Pastor taco was one of the best I've had in the ABQ area. The baked potato was really good after putting all the extras on from the salsa bar. Service was great, it all flowed well from getting in line, grabbing a tray, putting in your order, seeing your food prepared, put food on plate, and pay. We ate in the main area and not in the separate bar area where they had sports on the TV. It has a great theme on the interior. I would worn you, if you eat in the main area your clothes may smell from all the smoke from the cooking. I'm the end the food is worth it so enjoy yourself. Been wanting to try this place for awhile. Stopped in when we were in the area and really glad we did. No only were the tacos $2, they were quick, and so tasty. We got a variety, everything except the chicken this time. They were all delicious and there is a salsa bar. The drink bar looked good, but we didn't try anything this time either. Chill Saturday with a little hair of the dog after the Fourth of July. First time trying the Michelada which is like a mix of a Bloody Mary and a choice of beer. I chose a Michelob Ultra since it's called a Michelada and it came with a rim of tajin and tajin straw. My nephew is a fan of the tajin straw so we had to get his own tajin straw. The shrimp are battered and fried and super crispy. The al pastor was flavorful and had pineapples, but the meat was a little dry. Quesadilla with carne asada: Although their quesadilla is half the price of other restaurants, it is about half the size. I like that they actually grill the tortillas are brown and toasty. Service: 5 You order at the grill and wait for your food. Once it's ready and has been given to you, you go to the cashier to pay. Ambiance: 3 The restaurant has a lot of parking. There are tables in the restaurant and in the adjacent bar. My main gripe is that the restaurant needs better ventilation as it gets quite smoky/smelly. read more

I have to agree with the other reviews here, this place is a top taco joint here. I mean, the prices are super low, the food is so delicious, and the staff. SOOOOOOO friendly. We bring our 6 month almost everywhere, and they were super kind to her. The pork taco - amazing. The Quesadilla is just amazing flavor of cheese and whatever meat I had on it. The churro's, so tasty. The only thing I struggled was is the spice from the lowest spice salsa. I'mfrom the north, north north. Spice doesn't sit well with me sometimes. It was tasty tho. The great thing about Tap and Taco is that's just up the street from me & you just can't go wrong with them. The bar has great drinks and you just can't beat their tacos (ask for an extra tortilla cause you'll need it) the meat is lean and not fatty which is a huge plus!
