The server we had was kind've forgetful or overly stressed with the three tables in the place. However, he was super kind and apologetic for no reason. Not being here, the salsa's are in a world of pain. I mean all them are spicey and straight up fire for us. We must be pretty weak when it comes to spice. We had the chicken burrito, which it was fairly tasty. The rice and beans were solid, and the burrito was great. The food quality doesn't do the aesthetics justice indeed. We were on our way from Santa Fe to Albuquerque, and wanted to grab a bite. We saw this place and the reviews saying it was an authentic Mexican restaurant. The ambiance was humble. We were the only customers, but assume that it was just after the dinner rush on a Sunday. We were glad to see they had vegetarian and pescatarian options. And man, was the food great! I really loved the salsa bar and the pickled jalapeños. My wife enjoyed her tacos de pescado, and I enjoyed my vegetarian burrito. We will definitely be back again. Food: 4.5 Carne Asada Fries: The fries were hot and crispy and covered in a generous drizzle of guacamole, sour cream, and cheese. I appreciate that they spread it all over instead of just placing discrete scoops. The carne asada was well seasoned. My only complaint is that they added carnitas to it even though it isn't specified in the menu. Although I enjoyed it, my partner was unable to eat it because of that. California Burrito: A typical California burrito is just French fries, carne asada, guac, and sour cream. They added extra sauces to it, but it was a good twist that kept the burrito from feeling yo dry. Cabeza Taco: Excellent, meat was tender and flavorful, and tortilla was delicious. Service: 5 You order at the counter and then a server will bring out your food when it is ready. The last 3 times I've ordered the pollo al pastor, there has been no pineapple, which is why I crave the dish. I tried one last time, ordered a to go burrito, asked if it will have pineapple, was told it will have lots, I arrive home excited, and the burrito doesn't have a single piece of pineapple. It was just one note and salty. If they can't ensure what you order will be what you get, even when the cashier tells the kitchen, there is no point in trying anymore. Heartbreaking. And then walked in a beautiful little restaurant, and the young lady that helped us was excellent and very friendly, a whole menu and also the dessert menu. My wife and I live near Bernalillo and finally the stars aligned and we were able to give it a try. The reviews are pretty good and location looks authentic enough. We were the only ones there at 11:00 am. The lady working the front was nice and helpful. I had a carnitas burrito and my wife the Taco Salad. The burrito was surprisingly good and a nice portion. The meat was well seasoned and cooked tender with some crispy bits to give it a nice texture. The ratio of meat to rice was about 70/30 so no complaints. My wife had the taco salad and enjoyed it even though we both thought it was a little small for the price. there is a small salsa "bar" and they provide a small bowl of chips. Overall we enjoyed it and will go back again one day. Sorry no pics this time but our food looked similar to the other photos posted. read more

I've now had two dinners, a lunch and a breakfast. And it was all QUITE good. I just ate way too much right now. Just had the wet burrito with carnitas. I had a torta al Pastor on my first visit when I enjoyed, I had breakfast there yesterday; huevos con machaca for a cold Sunday brunch and which was AWESOME. I will have again, but I want to try the chorizo breakfast first. And I on my second visit I had "Molcajete" which was new to me and it was delicious. Love this place!!! read more

We used to love it here! The past three times the our usual order has not been good. The quality is no longer there, the hours of operation aren't what is stated and the salsas are always bad. You can tell the salsa isn't made daily , they leave them out and have a horrible smell and taste. I called to let them know the man who answered hung up on me. read more

I ordered a California burrito and here they do it right! It has carne, pico, crema, and guac and it was absolutely delicious! Best Cali I have tasted in New Mexico so far and def among the top 10 I've tasted in Southern California! My first bite transported me back to San Diego for a second! We also ordered the nachos with carne and it was delicious! The girls got a quesadilla and beans and rice and a side a fruit which all comes with the kids meal and they loved it! Ate every bit of it! The beans and rice are how I'm use to and love! Authentic and perfect! I love that this place has authentic Mexican food from Mexico cause I've been missing that dearly and so now I found my new spot. Their food reminds me of the food my tia cooks and the food I grew up on. They have a lot of things I look forward to trying and miss being born and raised in San Diego. I already have a list of things I plan on trying from here! The service is very friendly, they even bring chips out to try with their various salsas, they all had a good heat to them and I respect that! The no frills dining room reminded me of my late great-grandmother's kitchen. The only thing that was missing -- her pot belly stove. Only 1 server who also bussed/cleaned/cashiered/answered questions & phones, etc., (& I believe ONLY 1 employee in the kitchen) was extremely amicable & sooooo efficient at her job, especially as many customers were eating inside & a long host of others were in line piling up to either be seated or to request take out. This establishment brilliantly operated with a lean team.
