Expensive. Bland. Not Authentic. Good service. This is good for those friends who want to "try" Mexican food, but don't know what Mexican food is. Per Google, they advertise "Casual spot offering traditional Mexican dishes such as tacos and burritos, plus beer and wine." And their website claims to be the "best tacos in New Mexico". The prices were insane for what we received. $4-$5 per 1 taco that is mostly tortilla and not much much filling. The pastor and fish were two of the worst tacos we tried. I couldn't even finish them because of the texture/taste. Plus, the portion sizes were TINY for the price. There was hardly any pastor meat in the actual taco. Same applies for the fish taco. It was filled with a lot of veggies and a small tiny piece of fish which was very slimy. Again, not worth it for $4-$5 per 1 taco. Service was fine, but the tacos were not good. You enter, order at the counter, and seat yourself. When a restaurant has a set up like this I expect the food to be more solid and don't have high expectations of the service. I'm just looking for good food. If you're looking for authentic Mexican street tacos - this place is not for you. We placed a large catering order - 4 trays of tacos, 3 trays of enchiladas, 5 quarts each rice and beans. The food is excellent. Our complaint is that we called and specifically asked them NOT to dress the tacos so we could keep the extra trays in a warmer until needed. We asked them to deliver the cheese, lettuce and tomatoes on the side. The tacos arrived with melted cheese on them from being kept warm. We were unable to keep the tacos warm for very long. Ok bad stuff first because there isn't much. You have 2 musics playing. The one at the main section was nice 80's type pop, just have that. The second section was sound off the TVs and it mixed with the other music. The food is a bit expensive for tacos. 3 tacos with beans and rice, chile cheese fries (was a good portion), and 2 small drinks with tax and tip was $35 yeesh. The lemonade tasted like chemicals too; don't get that. The food was good, the chicken was a little dry, but hot and tasty. My wife got the brisket/green chile and she liked it. The chile fries were good with both types of chile, lots of cheese and lots of flavor. The green was quite hot; I preferred the red because of that. The food came out quick. There's lots of seating, the tables were clean. The servers were nice. They do have a drive through which we may try another time. Free refills but you have to ask. Sooooo I'm not sure what happened. I had a Carne Asada burrito plate, came out looking nothing like the pictures, not smothered no chile. I didn't ask for it that way but this is what I got maybe I read the menu wrong. But the person in front of me ordered the same thing as me and look at that burrito plate and then look at mine. The loaded fries are okay. The rice 5/10 and the beans 0/10 substitute those everytime. I don't know look at my pictures, that plus a drink which is like a medium size everything total was like $30. I tried to add some heat with their salsa bar and the salsa had no heat. I was expecting more from what i read about this place. Your mileage may vary. The dine in experience here is bad, seating is cramped and poor. Usually when a place looks like this the food makes up for it but not here. If you come here get take out. read more

The experience... was below subpar, if that's possible. When you are forced to place your order and pay in advance on the internet, the restaurant should ensure that it can deliver. In the past we were able to place the order over the phone, talk to a real person who could advise if there would be an extraordinary wait-time. NOW, we were forced to endure the longest wait time we have ever experienced ANYWHERE because you already had our money (which by the way was double what the same order cost us in the past); otherwise, we could have left after the 10-minute wait in the drive-up lane rather than enduring another 30-minute inside. No explanation provided, and barely an apology. That is one sleazy way to pad your pockets. Great taco variety! They have tacos that they call puffy tacos and they are a hybrid tortilla that is hard to explain...all you need to know that it's good! The nachos are huge and delicious and made with homemade chips. I would recommend trying the green verde puffy taco it's made with beef sautéed in green chile sauce. i got cheese enchiladas and boyfriend got carne tacos and a 7k ipa. the girl who took our order did not know what a 7k was and said "side of what?" and also thought i said quesadillas i guess because they initially came out with two cheese quesadillas. i should've kept them bc when they came out with my enchiladas the cheese was not melted and they were obviously heated up for like one minute. i appreciate them trying to fix it fast but it was not great. the rice was also undercooked. bf's tacos were bland and he described it as barely edible. the green chile was good. lots of seating and self serve salsa station. i think this place has potential but they're not hitting the mark. read more

We stopped at Casa Taco on a cross country road trip and it did not disappoint! I did a quick search online for quick casual food spots in downtown Albuquerque since we have our cat with us in the car so we would need something quick that we can eat in the car. Casa Taco popped up as an option and had pretty good reviews so we decided to stop by. The service was quick and the tacos were tasty!! We both ordered the brisket green chile tacos which were incredibly flavorful. A must try! We also both ordered shrimp tacos and I was pleasantly surprised with how fresh and plump the shrimp were! I'm someone who loves spicy food, so adding their to-go salsa on top was the perfect addition! Lots of flavor and spice and clearly homemade. Hmmmmm, I regret to say that I didn't really enjoy my most recent visit to Casa Taco. I have been there before, pre-covid. Never had any experiences like this one. The staff was kinda, just all having their own little conversations, or on their phones. The cashier was nice and all, and she greeted us but the staff came off pre-occupied. We ordered a taco plate, several ala-carte tacos along with a double order of the fried mushrooms. Our food arrived fairly quickly, missing an order of mushrooms that was still being made. We dug in....and here's how they were. * Tacos, delicious! (We ordered brisket, ground beef and chicken) * Mushrooms, were oily and kind of tough. (Might have been precooked and sitting under a heat lamp) * Rice, overcooked from sitting in the heat. (Almost broke a tooth biting down on a spoonful) * Potatoes, basic. (But at least edible after trying the rice) I recommend coming to have tacos. Only tacos. Don't bother with a plate and sides, and def don't get the fried mushrooms. Small and dingy restaurant... should have walked away! For the price they charge here, I had much higher expectations than what I received. If I could return my order, I would! I've honestly never been so appalled by tacos! I ordered the 2 brisket green Chile plate ($14) and an iced tea which apparently was $4+ because my total for one person was almost $20. So I was very shocked that the iced tea tastes of soap/dishwater, the rice and beans are bland and flavorless, and the tacos are soggy and small. The beans were also vastly undercooked and nearly inedible. Rice is completely bland. The meat inside the tacos does not have flavor and is very chewy. The only saving grace for me was the corn tortillas, which are very nice and crispy. Green Chile salsa was decent also, but not spicy. Overall, I will not return or order from here ever again. Coming from LA, I am always looking for the taste of good Mexican food that could compare to some of my favorites back home. Of all mexican places I've tried in Albuquerque, Casa Taco hits the nail right on the head. I had an asada burrito and some asada fries. The burrito was near perfect. The meat was perfectly seasoned. The guac gave the burrito a great consistency and added so much more flavor to the burrito. It came with a side of pico de Gallo, rice and beans. Everything tasted so fresh and everything was perfectly cooked. The only gripe I have with it is I wish they just put all the side stuff inside the burrito to make it that much easier to eat. Adding the pico, rice and beans inside would elevate the burrito. The asada fries were also very tasty. They were topped with cheese and green chile which gave it the perfect consistency and kick. The only thing I'd say is that the fries had somewhat of an oily taste but it wasn't overbearing like other places. The service was great and the access to the restaurant drive through was easy. I didn't go inside because I was in a rush but from the photos the interior looks neat and clean. Seriously good food for awesome prices. The tacos themselves were ample in size with a lot of beef. The pico and salsa that are available so you can add were excellent. Only draw back with the tacos is the bottom of the corn shell gets soft since the meat had a lot of juice so they tend to fall apart the longer they sit. Ordered Casa Taco on doordash last night, the service was fantastic but the food was meh. I placed the order for pickup, pulled up and was pleasantly surprised by the drive up window. It is reserved for pick ups only, which is great. It was ready when I arrived and the employee was extremely pleasant. I had an assortment of tacos (6 different kinds, a sampler platter one may say) and some rice and beans. Their chips A1, their brisket taco A1. All of the other tacos I had were just okay. Shells kind of fell apart, and the chicken and shrimp tacos were semi bland. I wanted to love them because they are a good size and fairly loaded up, but I just felt they were okay.
