I don't get it; People write quite favourable reviews about this place, but i wonder why. It's tapas, so you expect small portions, but the prices are in main course territory. The attached photo is for lamp chops. Admittedly delicious, but at nearly 10 pounds for two teeny tiny fatty chops, I'm not sure how the staff sleep a t night. Perhaps the reason they all sneak off to the kitchen is for a quick guffaw. Be prepared for it to be noisy, cramped and uncomfortable. We spent a comparative fortune, but we're off now to go and have some food as we're hungry. Tapas I get, but if you're charging main courses per plate, it just feels like it's starting to hurt when you sit down, if you see what i mean. Grrrr. read more

My girlfriend being Spanish suggested we try a Spanish restaurant tonight in the Area of London Bridge. Was a little reluctant due to eating so much Spanish food at home. Anyway we were sat by the window but not at a table it was kind of sit at the window seal job and they just put your plates of food on that, "the window seal that is" Could not get your legs under anything but there was no big issue with it. The food came out very quick and I have to to say it was extremely tasty. Now some might see this as picky but I am a picky person and notice the little things, after all it's the little things that go a long way right. My partner started to order her food and ask the waitress in English if she spoke Spanish. "Si" said the waitress so anyway my GF starts to order hers and my food, not a word said to me by the waitress. I did feel a little Left out lol, we Had our yummy food then asked for the bill the lady comes over walks between us and was having a full on conversation with my partner for what felt like about 10 mins about life in Spain and so on but the problem was her back was to me the whole time truly her arse was in my face as she was standing in the middle of us. Now I don't know about anyone else on here but I would take the time out to try involve both people in the conversation if I was speaking to one person in a party of 2 and if I could not I would never have my back to them, rude I say. Tapas Brindisa London Bridge is being reviewed not for it's food but for the total lack of security while being a patron. We had searched google for a tapas restaurant and Brindisa popped up. It was only a few blocks from where we where. When we arrived there were two men smoking just outside the entry way and right next to the table where we were going to seat. We had mentioned this but no one seem to care. The younger thinner man (if he can be called a man after attacking a 67 year old man) didn't want to move but did begrudgingly so we could be seated. We let the smoking go as they were outside but when they started flicking the cigarette ash at us we asked them to move. They did but the 50ish older man started yelling F..k you at us for 10 to 15 seconds at the top of his lungs and that he didn't care. We ignored this childish behavior thinking the restaurant staff would do something but they did not. The older man came up to my daughter and was in her face yelling f..k you and challenged her to fight. Now this man was in his 50's 6'1" and about 230 to 250, my daughter is 5'1". No one from the restaurant came to our aid. My daughter never engaged and her husband was on the other side and before he could do anything the man went back inside the restaurant. Why the restaurant would allow him to go back into the restaurant shows a total lack of concern for their patrons as this man was not in control of his emotions. No one from the restaurant staff came up to us to assure us that situation was going to be taken care of that we should feel safe. As I was looking at the menu the older man came storming out to the restaurant and attacked my son in law from behind. I jumped to my son in law's aid but was jumped by the younger man knocking me to the ground where he began kicking me while I was on the ground. My wife came to my aid but he pushed her to the ground. My daughter came to aid as well and when I was able to lock up this person legs, someone told me to let him go as he wasn't a threat. I let him go didn't realize that my daughter had him from behind and when I let him go he turned on her pushing her to the ground . He was going after her but some other men stepped in front of him and told him he wasn't going to do anything to her. My son in law was able to handle his attacker. Both of these criminals were allowed back in the restaurant. The younger criminal before going back into the restaurant walked towards me and I thought he was going to apologize but no he slapped me in the head. The restaurant said they called the police but our other friend who was with us flagged down the police. Once these criminals saw that we weren't leaving until police came the restaurant allowed these criminals to slip out the back door. The restaurant reasoning was they didn't want anymore trouble. When the police arrived and were interviewing us the manager asked if we were going to eat we said we weren't eating and he asked us if we could move. If they would have intervened earlier this wouldn't have gotten to this point with four tourists being assaulted. So if you want to eat there remember that they let their customers act in criminal behavior and you might be caught in the middle of it. Now they will dispute this so let them post videos that everyone knows they have from the time we arrived until the Police arrived. read more

Small portions, dirty tables, the food is ordinary and not tasty as it can be. Disappointed and left the place hungry and not satisfied.

The food is amazing and the choices too. We went at about closing time and they still served us. The plates were rushed a bit. Ice cream was brought before we were done so we had to rush before it melted. If you are visiting from outside the UK you might find the prices a little pricey. However, I believe that the food is totally worth it and the service is great too. I don't like to give five stars but the food is that good. read more

Went here after a show at the Old Vic last Sunday. The atmosphere was lovely - really relaxed and friendly. The service was impeccable and the waiting staff were happy to advise on our choices (every time I go for tapas I get greedy and can never make my mind up!) Excellent sharing platters, large portions for a group of four of us and some absolutely delicious wine. You could tell everything was lovingly home-made and authentic too. read more

Omg! My favorite sandwich of all time is from Brindisa in London's Borough Market. A guy is outside, grilling spanish chorizo, and serving a delicious sand wich! Spanish Bread (the bread is light) with spanish chorizo, rocket (we are like the only people who call it arugula), roasted piquillo peppers, and olive oil. We also bought Spanish Ham (made from Black Pig). YUM! Downfall, we paid in Euros obviously. It was $40 for a pack! My boyfriend and I got in the long line twice for this while my friend shopped for exotic mushrooms from all over Europe. We had just finished drinking at the pub around the way after watching Chelsea and Manchester play! The Borough Market is the best Farmers Market EVER! This is a MUST-SEE! read more

There is just something fun and easy about Tapas. There are a few Brindisa restaurants around London, (and a Spanish food market at Borough Market), which keep Spanish food alive and well in London. Brindisa is one of the better examples of Spanish cuisine's favorites. And, when at Borough, it is really hard to pass up their tasty and satisfying chorizo sandwiches sold outside of their market shop. Delicious! read more

Overpriced for overall lack of taste and portion sizes. Real disappointment. Most menu items are roughly $13-15 pounds and you're not getting much bang for your buck. I came here on a Friday night and there were no tables so we stood around the bar and ate, which was a little unorthodox but worked well. We shared a range of dishes, the best of these was the ham which although very pricey was worth every penny. The food was so good that it reminded me of places in Barcelona. I was impressed with this dish. The tomato salad was also quite good. Very fresh tomatoes. I was less impressed with the croquetas de jamon. They were a little too soft on the inside for my taste, even though they were nice and crispy on the outside. By the 4th one, the texture was getting a little monotonous. Its been a long time since i have been meaning to write about my serendipitous visit to Tapas Brindisa. It is not too far from where i work and i came for lunch here with Gemma on one of her short notice visits to London. We wanted to sample as many of the dishes on offer as possible. We ordered four items to share. 1. Spanish omelette, one of my long time favourites. It had been cooked with generous amounts of onions and potatoes, and so was extremely tasty. 2. Hake. It was alright. I personally don't find much flavour in fishes that are merely boiled. This was surely not my favourite item on the menu. 3. Chorizo. Here they did really well. It was served with red peppers and toast. The best dish that we had, in my opinion. 4. Lamb cutlet. It contained quite a lot of meat. But we weren't given a choice on how it was to be cooked. It turned out to be a little more "bloody" than the cutlets that I am used to. With one drink, the price tag came to be about £20 per person. Given that I generally liked the food and that the price was reasonable, I want to go back. But they don't accept reservations. I did try to get a table one evening, but was scared off by the potential 2.5 hour wait. I hope I have better luck next time. read more

Four different kinds of jamon? Please don't wake me up from this dream. Spanish ham is the holy grail of cured meats. The best are made from black footed pigs that run wild and feed only on acorns and take four years to mature. Brindisa carries four different types of the best jamon, each from different regions in Spain with varying tastes. Please note that there is a wait list for your jamon - it takes 20 agonizing minutes for them to get you your jamon but when they do. Ooooh child! read more

Went on Saturday night to try their 10th anniversary menu at 2004 prices. It looks like organised chaos, they don't take reservations so you need to go and leave your name on the list, which is controlled by one person who isn't easy to find as she does a multitude of different things at the restaurant. Once you have found her though, she takes your name and you're free to leave and come back. We were told a possible 45 minute wait, but on coming back half an hour later, they were preparing some tables. While we were waiting, a couple sat down at an uncleared table and were quickly turfed out by a waitress. The male turfee was quite loud and rude to the staff but was handled with professionalism and eventually left. We got a range of dishes both from the standard and anniversary menu and they came as follows: Tortilla with Chorizo - easily the best dish of the night, really tasty Broken eggs - little overcooked, the eggs having baked solid - they'd been described as still runny over fried potatos. Padron peppers - salty and oily but with great flavour Grilled lamb chops - nicely marinated and grilled well, but a little expensive for what was on the plate. Finally the spinach. Now this was a problem. Firstly we had to ask twice about the dish, and it turned up when we'd pretty much finished our meal, it doesn't take a lot of time to cook, especially when described as lightly wilted... Secondly, it didn't taste of anything, just a bit of oil and the raisins that it was mixed with. Finally and worst of all, it hadn't been washed and was full of grit. To be honest I had a mouthful and had to rinse my mouth out. We left it behind. 4 out of 5 dishes were good, but that last one let them down completely. The waitress didn't say much when we complained about it, just that there was probably just a little left by accident. Not sure I'll be back, or at least, I'll be more careful with my selections. read more

Brindisa has all the attributes to be one of the greatest shopping experiences in London. The produce looks good, they have created a rustic feel to the place, there are legs of serrano and chorizo sausages hanging all over the place and its great - until you look at the price. I am a fan of all things spanish and spent a couple of years living just outside barcelona and things like chorizo and serrano and manchego cheese become part of every day life. Why? firstly because they are delicious. Secondly because they are affordable. In brindisa the ham is sold in 100g measures at a minimum price of around £15.00 per 100g. In Spain the prices are by the kg and ive had some delicious ham for around 15 euros per kg. Now I understand these people have a huge ground rent and you're paying for convienience, and im sure the ham is of a great quality but 10 times more expensive???? £150.00 per kg??? I would suggest saving some money by finding a cheap flight to spain (i recently got one for £30 return) spending £15.00 on a kilo of serrano leaving you £105.00 to find a hotel and enjoy the magic of espana. This place would have got 2* but i have to admit the hot chorizo, rocket and pepper rolls from the stall outside are les shizzle!!! read more

Good food, good price and fast service! This review is based on my breakfast experience at Tapas Brindisa. We went here because were looking forward to enjoy fantastic food around or in the Borough Market. Gladly our expectation was met and hunger satiated by Tapas Brindisa. This place offers breakfast menu which is much smaller than their regular menu but I must say it is deliciously well proportioned. I devoured those tasteful chorizo paired with eggs and potatoes while the mister had manchego cheeze, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and eggs. We gulped down fresh orange juice along with our breaky! Yummy! I am happy happy happy for less than £20! Cheap date? Nah, just a sucker for a tasty food. read more

I had high expectations of this place and decided to take my mom here for dinner since she hadn't tried Spanish food yet. Though it was good, I can honestly say I loved Jose way more. It was really loud and crowded on a Wednesday night but we were able to be seated quickly. We ordered the croquettes, which were the highlight for me. Padron peppers, also good. The tortilla was a huge disappointment as well as the salad we had. Maybe I will go back to try it out again but for now, Jose is my fave spot for now. read more

While I love the ambiance of Brindisa and the surroundings of the hustle and bustle around the market, it is not my favorite tapas bar in the London Bridge area. It is quite good, however, and convenient and for that reason, I would return there to dine. read more

First, this is one of my favorite areas in and around London. On a sunny day this is the place to go. I had lunch at Tapas Brindisa today. The area is crowded, but not too bad. You'll find a combination of locals and tourists. Overall, not too annoying. I recommend a table outside if possible, the interior is cramp. My favorite dishes: 1. Pan de coca - (why) I love bread and olive oil. The flat bread and tomato is balance and there is a little salt to tingle. (comment) The bread is amazing if you dip it into the gambas al ajillo. Definite order again. 2. Gambas Al Ajillo - (why) I love the idea of olive oil, garlic, and prawns. (comments) prawns are a good size and dish isn't too bad. I think they can add more garlic and oil to the dish, but overall not too bad. Order again but would like to be spicier and more oil. 3. Croquetas de jamon -(why) classic Spanish & idea of ham inside mash potatoes! (comments) the dish is tasty and not too oily and burnt. The croquetas are a good size and well fried. I would order these again. 4. Tortilla de chorizo (why) eggs, potatoes, and ham is a good combination to eat. (comments) the dish was a little disappointing. The tortillas are all pre-made, so not as fresh as I like. You are serve a wedge from a larger piece. I would have preferred and fresh tortilla where the egg oozes after you cut into it. Overall opinion: I would definitely return and probably wouldn't want to wait too long for a table. This is not the best tapas in London, but I think the location and food are a good combination. read more
