Hands down some of the best tapas we've tried in Barcelona. We visited many establishments and most had the same menu of items which is boring if you are an adventurous eater. Tapeo had the best variety of unique items and everything was delicious. We made a reservation and was seated immediately. I highly recommend the pork ribs, the sweetbread (yummy) and the bone morrow. My only wish was that they served the veal and bone morrow with simple bread to smear the morrow on. Our server was friendly and the bill was on par with other places that were not nearly as good. Highly recommend.
We only had two dinners in Barcelona before our cruise, so we had to make them count, and this place absolutely delivered. Yelp steered me here, and it did not disappoint! First tip: make a reservation. We booked one the day before (easy peasy), but when we got there they were turning people away left and right. So yeah, feeling pretty smug about that one. The vibe is totally authentic: cramped, lively, and full of energy. There's bar seating, a few high tables, and a little room in the back, but we loved being up front where all the action was. Our waiter, Jarrel (pronounced like Superman's father), was the absolute best. He guided us through the menu like a pro, and we ended up with some killer dishes. The sausage cannelloni? Life-changing. The fried asparagus? Hey, a girl's gotta have her vegetables, am I right? The steak was okay - but we should have gotten the ribs that everyone else was getting, so learn from my mistake. I was most excited for the foie gras and egg dish, but it leaned a little too heavy on the truffle (which is not something I say often) and not enough foie. Still, it was a fantastic meal overall. We told Jarrel we wanted a leisurely dinner to soak up the atmosphere, and he timed everything perfectly.
The food & sangria were absolutely wonderful! We got lucky at lunch & were able to get 2 seats at the bar without reservations. Recommend making reservations for lunch & dinner. Reasonable prices & beautiful presentation. Tempura asparagus was huge & delicious. Ham croquettes were delicious, a bit small so we should've got 2 orders. The quinoa & avocado salad was divine. The beef tenderloin cooked perfectly & delicious. Sangria sold by 1/2 liter or full liter. Service was good.
Really great small tapas place, that is pretty affordable in my opinion for the quality. You could make reservations in advance, although there seemed to be tables available on Friday around 1pm. If you're a couple, I recommend bar seating as the seated tables are a bit cramped and against the wall. Standouts were patatas Bravas, 100% beef burger, and beef tenderloin. The patatas was fried well. The beef burger was nicely salted and went well with the foie gras. Beef tenderloin was fairly soft and potatoes were very thinly sliced.
I came here highly recommended while visiting BCN and was so impressed with everything I ordered. I came on a week night so it was easy to grab a table. Staff were very accommodating and helpful with discussing the menus. The tapas here were incredible with honorable mentions to the patatas bravas, steak chimichurri and the lamb! Everything was so tasty and priced friendly for the amount of food! I would absolutely come back next time I visit BCN
I'm picky about food. I've definitely noticed that there are places getting high marks in Spain and Portugal on various rating platforms that were just okay for me. Food tastes can vary, so maybe I need to find the foodies who share mine. Regardless, since I was on vacation, I didn't plan to review the places we ate, but I have to do one for Tapeo. It's a small place, so it's tough to get in at the busier times. They do make reservations. The service was extremely attentive (you'll have a server, but everyone helps out). Normally when traveling, we try many places, but we loved what we had so much that we actually ate here three times (I'm a little embarrassed to admit that). I did not get pictures of everything, but we liked everything we ate here. In our three weeks in Spain and Portugal, we ate a lot of good food, but were also sometimes disappointed by highly reviewed places (we don't usually go to the really expensive places, so I'm sure there are some great options that we tend to miss due to prices). I did not find a place that I liked more on this trip. My favorites overall were the roasted lamb and the roasted aubergine (eggplant) with honey and lime. The bread with tomato was also a delicious start to several meals. Tapeo is a delicious way to celebrate Spanish cuisine in Barcelona.
We went back 3 times during our trip!!! It was absolutely amazing. Some of the best food Ive had thus far. The ceviche itself was mind blowing, I would highly recommend trying this! The service was on and off but towards our last visit they warmed up to us. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu (they've been in business for 15 years so I am hopeful they will still be there when I go back to Barcelona) ¡Fuimos de regreso 3 veces durante nuestro viaje!!! Fue absolutamente increíble. Algunas de las mejores comidas que he probado hasta ahora. El ceviche en sí fue impresionante, lo recomiendo muchísimo. El servicio fue intermitente, pero en nuestra última visita se mostraron más atentos con nosotros. No puedo esperar para volver y probar el resto del menú (llevan 15 años en el negocio, así que tengo la esperanza de que todavía estén allí cuando regrese a Barcelona).
Their Patatas Bravas was the best of our trip (we had order that dish at 4 different restaurants during a week and often like but loved them here). The English menu said chicken "wings" but they were actually chicken thighs on lettuce wraps with cheese and herbs that were delicious. Broken eggs on Iberian Ham over potatoes - great breakfast dish. Loved both white and red vermut!
Finally!!! After being a bit disappointed by food scene in Barcelona, I finally came here and loved everything about this place! English menu is available and if you still don't know what to order, ask your server. Pork rib was so soft and juicy, so flavorful, I highly recommend trying this one. croquette was so soft in inside and rich in flavor, truffle on the burger made it over the top, a few other dishes I had was also as great, oh I wish I came here earlier! If your travel brings you to Barcelona, I highly recommend trying this restaurant. They have two locations in town. read more

A popular little tapas place near the Picasso Museum off Las Ramblas. The portions were of reasonable size and the entree of roasted lamb was tasty, fall-off the bone delicious. Very crowded with only a few tables, and most people sitting at the bar. There was a constant line waiting to be seated. Overall, a worthwhile place to go have dinner in a very well-known tourist area of Barcelona. read more
Tapeo had rave reviews so we decided to have dinner there during our time in Barcelona. We were able to get a seat at the bar at peak dinner hours in about 10 minutes! We ordered the Foie Gras with Truffled Egg, Iberian Pork Ribs, and a bombeta. The ribs were good, but not as amazing as I expected. They were sweet and soft, so tasty, but nothing special. The bombeta was overcooked so the outside was VERY dark brown. The taste was fine but it shouldn't have been served burnt. Lastly, we were really looking forward to the Foie and ended up being quite disappointed. It arrived and was immediately mixed up by the waiter. The mixture was overpowered by the taste of the egg. We ate foie gras EVERYWHERE so I was a little lost as to why the foie gras was so small and the egg was the "star" of the dish. Anyways, I would not order that again. Also, it was way overpriced at 16.50 euro. We had planned on ordering more items but after having the egg dish we decided to finish dinner elsewhere. The food in Barcelona is amazing and almost all the other places we went to were excellent, in terms of price, taste, & service. Tapeo did not deliver! read more

Make a reservation in advance here. The food is worth the pain of having to pick up the phone and force a human interaction instead of through a text. Plus, you'll avoid the painful demeanor/ general unfriendliness from the host. They have a set menu and rotating specials for tapas. The food was all good and unexpected. I genuinely was surprised when things came out and they tasted good. They have a nice style of infusing odd ingredients together to create something interesting. I would absolutely return for the food and for the sangriasssss...you can't not get these while in Spain. My only complaint is that the staff are hard to reach. It was comical the number of times we tried to talk to them or make eye contact. It's the equivalent to trying to get a bar tender to pay attention to you at a college bar where students are pushing each other around just for those vodka-soda sell-your-soul deals. read more

This was one of the better meals we had in Barcelona. Everything tasted good. The ribs were SO GOOD! The service was good. The atmosphere was good. Overall we really enjoyed our meal and are so happy we came here. read more
Good, not great. Made reservations although probably could've gotten in without. We saw a large crowd near the door when we arrived, so got excited it was this place...turns out the place directly across El Xampayet (probably spelled wrong) was the one with the crowd. Even though we had reservations they made us wait for a table, so I went next door and pushed my way into the place with the crowd...had the best dish of the night there unfortunately. We ordered several tapas, nothing was bad, but nothing was amazing either. Given the sheer amount of amazing food (one directly across the street for example) I can't say I'd come back. It's on the higher end me of the price scale of similar places, the service is just ok and the food is also just ok. read more

THE BEST FOOD IN BARCELONA hands down we were so stunned by all of the flavors. It was just so amazing and such an intimate setting. My husband hates mayonnaise but two of our dishes came with it and he actually really enjoyed it, so that says enough haha read more
Tapeo is pretty great. It's a shade shy of perfection, so it earns a fine 4 stars, but if you go here, you'll have a lovely time, your food will be great and you'll walk away happy. Tapeo is a small restaurant. Maybe room for 35 people or so. Lots of small tables and a long bar. I was flying solo on this Barcelona run, so the bar was perfect for me. I began with the Iberian ham croquettes (€2.2 for only two). Teeny, tiny little golden morsels of fried goodness. On the inside, a gooey cheese, some jamón, and something else. Maybe rice? Very arancini like. These were piping hot and they melted in my mouth. I savored each bite. Next up were Patatas bravas with alioli, tomato & ñora peppers (€4.5). Crispy and golden on the outside. Melt-in-your-mouth potato goodness. The sauce smothered on top was also really tasty. Yum. The biggest disappointment was the skirt of beef fillet with chimichurri (€8). It was cooked perfectly, but it was just kind of bland. The steak is cut very thin, so don't feel like you'll be wolfing down a whole cow when you order this. I might get it again, but it just wasn't up to par with the other dishes. As alerted by Yelpers, I snagged the Iberian pork ribs with honey and mustard (€8). Wowzer, what a win. The slightest touch made all the meat fall right off the bone. It had a sweet Asian kind of taste to it, which really surprised me. It's such a unique taste, it's worth adding to your bill. I washed all of this down with 1/2 liter of wine sangria. Sangria is always sweet, but I didn't get the slightest buzz from this. Another minor misfire. Tasty, yes. Powerful, no. I'd happily recommend Tapeo for its excellent execution and its cozy, friendly atmosphere. read more

Sad to leave this place only 4 stars. The Good: Ambience is great, location is superb. The place is clean and inviting. Great wine list. The Bad: The service is slow at best, long wait. The Ugly: the food is bland, despite the amazing ingredients and presentation. read more

Traveling through Barcelona in Jan 2024 and came across this special Tapas bar in two locations. The food, the atmosphere and the staff were all very-very good. We tried multiple dishes and the flavors in each dish were tremendous. Go. read more

A tiny restaurant with a tiny kitchen, but staff is efficient and food is delicious. The fried eggplant with honey and lime was truly an unique creation. The grilled lamb with mint yogurt was tender and well seasoned. Torrijas was gooey and not overly sweet. Other dishes look great too. Definitely give it a try if I'm the neighborhood. read more

Tapeo Gracia is a lovely place in the Gracia neighborhood. I had the Beef burger with foie and mushroom mayo and Sea urchin with prawn. I didn't realize that the sea urchin and prawn was a larger noodle dish. The waiter said it was large but I didn't realize it was a mini paella size haha. I hope to be able to come back and try some other Catalonian dishes. read more
I went here twice. It was that good. I wasn't willing to fight the lines and crowds at El Xampanyet. The staff is very helpful. The pork ribs, the shrimp with truffle and cheese, the skirt steak, all of it was great. Go, you'll enjoy it. read more

Food 4.5 Value 4 Service 4 Décor 4 Must order- Iberian pork ribs with honey and mustard. This was my favorite bite of the night! Flank steak w chimichurri was a close second. Also had the patatas bravas and mixed vegetables with mushrooms. The mixed veggies were cooked to perfection- not overly dressed or seasoned. Dessert- panna cotta with passion fruit. Tasty but wouldn't order it again. May have been frozen beforehand. We sat at the bar and had a view into the kitchen. It was great to watch the chefs fire out the dishes. read more
I loved this Tapeo! The restaurant was packed upon arrival, that combined with the smell and aroma reassured me we needed to get a table here. The restaurant is your typical small tapa but don't let that fool you the flavor coming out of this little place packs a mean punch that attacks your taste buds. We were lucky enough to grab some bar seats next to the kitchen as the tables were reserved. We had some house white wine, just like all the wine in Spain it was on point. No need to order from the fancy stuff. We looked at the menu and were attracted to the bluefin tuna belly, skirt of beef, grilled octopus, and the croquettes. The plates are as expected small tapa style played but holy cow this was delicious on par with some of the best meals I've had while visiting Spain. The Octopus was amazing, great consistency and flavor, not over chewy just right and the sauce made everything come together really well. The skirt steak was perfectly marinated and cooked medium with the right amount of chumichurri. The tuna belly was so delicious and the sesame seeds put everything together really well. The croquettas were so flaky and delicious, it felt like they melted in your mouth, amazing! Truly memorable meal! read more
Tapas were delicious! It's a very small so come during a time that isn't busy or you'll have to wait a long time! We came on a Sunday around 5pm and there were about 3 tables available. We ordered the the croquettes, bombeta and patatas bravas. Everything was so good! We finished all our food and ordered a few more plates of the same thing. The croquettes are my favorite! Good service and food comes out quick. read more
Came here without a reservation and it was about an hour wait- however, you can wait outside and enjoy a glass of vino or sangria to make the time pass faster. The food here was more of a fusion with Asian flavors then what I am used to in Barcelona. The squid, steak, and ribs all tasted very flavorful, but the winner of the night was the bread pudding. It was soooo delicious. Not to sweet, just perfect. read more

We walked in without reservations on a Thursday around 7:30pm after the Picasso Museum and were blown away by the quality. Luckily we snagged seats at the bar as Tapeo quickly filled up with walk ins and reservations. Cava sangria tasted like fruit juice. We enjoyed each and every one of the tapas we ordered. The flavor profile here leans more savory/salty which is perfect for my tastebuds. Started off with the leek with olive paste. The gorgeous presentation signaled we were in for a treat. Who knew leeks could taste this good? Bombeta (1 per order so get your own) quickly followed served piping hot, deep fried meat and potato balls with a dollop of creamy and spicy sauce on top. Tender fall off the bone ribs with honey and mustard are popular with good reason. The light sauce and texture are perfection. Patatas bravas were a last minute add on because everyone was ordering them. We were not disappointed by the crisp potato drenched with sauces. Squid stuffed with vegetables looked amazing and the texture of the squid was soft, but the vegatable filling was underwhelming. Don't get me wrong it was all devoured nonetheless, but if I probably would choose to order a different tapa over this next time. Perhaps the grilled octopus! Our finale was the truffled eggs with foie gras and mushrooms. For this dish, I have no words. Just have a look at the video. I'm seriously debating returning to Tapeo for another delicious meal! read more

Typically I wouldn't write about this, but these are unusual times. My wife and I created a 30th anniversary reservation in Barcelona to this highly revered restaurant on a challenging evening in the city with protests, etc occurring. We were extremely cautious of Covid by wearing our masks as much as possible up to the point where we officially started eating at this location, but sadly the compressed overfilled location resulted in my wife contracting Covid that evening. I am monitoring myself and have not tested positive. The food was good, not the level expected but overall nice. The service good as well, and a few dishes were exemplary. Overall a three star verging on four, but the extremely cramped quarters dissolved the higher rating. Maybe slimming down the quantity of people attending will control the situation. read more

This restaurant deserves more than stars!! My family of 10 members was a last minute reservation and they took care of us with the best hospitality and service. The food and ambiance were so amazing that we came back a 2nd time before leaving Barcelona. I'd like to thank Richard and the other staff members for being very friendly. - Tapeo was recommended to me by multiple friends, and our hotel staff. One of the highlights of our culinary experience in Barcelona. A must eat! Definitely secure a reservation ahead of time, the restaurant is relatively small. If you have a party of 5 or more, it may be more difficult to make a reservation. I made a reservation for 2 the day before, and we had no issues. We got the feeling that they may be understaffed, as it took while for staff to seat us, give us menus, take our orders, and refill our drinks. However they were attentive when they arrived, and very helpful. Everything here was fantastic. The Iberian pork ribs with honey glaze was hands down one of the best ribs I have ever had. We re-ordered it because it was so good! Well cooked, falls off the bone, melt in your mouth delicious. I also would recommend the chocolate/oil/bread dessert. I saw this at multiple restaurants so I believe it is something unique to Spain/Barcelona. It was so decadent and delicious. Overall, 10/10 would absolutely eat here if I was ever in Barcelona again. The one item I wouldn't recommend is the roasted leek-- overcooked and mushy. The anchovy sauce on top is wonderful though! read more
Everything about our experience at Tapeo was spectacular and sweet. We were able to make a reservation for two on a Friday night (9pm), but I believe you can just put yourself on a waitlist upon arrival. We got to Tapeo just a tad late, and waited maybe an additional 10 minutes before we were seated, no problem! The staff were attentive, quick, and made sure the check in on us even though they were packed! This was our last night in Barcelona. I think coming here made it really special and memorable for us because we ended our trip on such a high note (the place just has a really good energy to it!). This is your local, good vibes, excellent food, no fuss establishment and everyone is just enjoying being there in the buzz. They make you feel so welcome and the food was seriously amazing! First: The honey iberico ribs. These were fantastic - our waiter told us that people come here just to order this and they order like four or five plates of it just for themselves - its just that good. Confirmed - they are pretty delicious, fall off the bone, and packed with flavor. The pulpo (octopus): Must get any chance you are in Spain lol For a location that is drizzling in seafood, how can you not! We had it as often as we could and this place did not disappoint! The fideua (black) - Oh boy, thats one of the items I'll be dreaming about. Fideua is like Paellas little sister, cooked very similarly and with seafood, but with a vermicelli noodle - it is a staple that I had wanted to try on this trip and Tapeo was just the place for me to do it! The Fideua was my favorite dish, it comes with an aioli/spanish mayo that you scoop into the noodles and mix. SO GOOD. These were my three favorite dishes and if you were to order anything these would be it. Of course don't forget the sangria cava which is a staple as well! I've had so much good food throughout my Barcelona trip, but our meal here was our favorite! It's a tapas restaurant so all the plates are small. I'd recommend ordering a few plates and sharing amongst your table. The more people in your group, the more dishes you can try! We made dinner reservations and were seated right away. Ordered both the red and white wine and both were good (a bit on the sweeter side though). FIDEUA BLACK CUTTLEFISH PASTA - this is an absolute MUST! Fideua is Catalan's version of paella. Instead of rice, it's short, skinny noodles. This dish was huge and was shareable amongst my group of 4. I don't even know how to describe this dish. It was just so delicious. This was also recommended to us by the server over the sea urchin fideua IBERIAN PORK RIBS WITH HONEY & MUSTARD - these ribs were delicious! So tender with a sticky sauce. Slightly sweet from the honey. I'm not a fan of the mustard but it was not very strong. COD FRITTERS - we devoured these so fast. Small, fried balls of deliciousness. OXTAIL with SANTA PAU BEANS - this was my least favorite dish. I was expecting oxtail with the bone. It come out as one big ball of meat. I assume they shredded the meat off of the oxtail and put it together ina ball. My friends seemed to like this a lot though. CATALAN CREAM FOAM - a foam dessert?? This was unlike anything I've ever had. It's literally a big foam dessert. It's light and delicious. BREAD PUDDING - delicious! My favorite dessert out of the 3 we tried. Sugary and caramelized outside bread and inside and moist. CHOCOLATE w/ BREAD, OLIVE, & SALT - my least favorite dessert, but it was still good. There's little bread crackers with a side of chocolate to dip it in. It's a very rich dark chocolate, but the chocolate was too dark for my taste. read more
