Hands down some of the best tapas we've tried in Barcelona. We visited many establishments and most had the same menu of items which is boring if you are an adventurous eater. Tapeo had the best variety of unique items and everything was delicious. We made a reservation and was seated immediately. I highly recommend the pork ribs, the sweetbread (yummy) and the bone morrow. My only wish was that they served the veal and bone morrow with simple bread to smear the morrow on. Our server was friendly and the bill was on par with other places that were not nearly as good. Highly recommend.
We only had two dinners in Barcelona before our cruise, so we had to make them count, and this place absolutely delivered. Yelp steered me here, and it did not disappoint! First tip: make a reservation. We booked one the day before (easy peasy), but when we got there they were turning people away left and right. So yeah, feeling pretty smug about that one. The vibe is totally authentic: cramped, lively, and full of energy. There's bar seating, a few high tables, and a little room in the back, but we loved being up front where all the action was. Our waiter, Jarrel (pronounced like Superman's father), was the absolute best. He guided us through the menu like a pro, and we ended up with some killer dishes. The sausage cannelloni? Life-changing. The fried asparagus? Hey, a girl's gotta have her vegetables, am I right? The steak was okay - but we should have gotten the ribs that everyone else was getting, so learn from my mistake. I was most excited for the foie gras and egg dish, but it leaned a little too heavy on the truffle (which is not something I say often) and not enough foie. Still, it was a fantastic meal overall. We told Jarrel we wanted a leisurely dinner to soak up the atmosphere, and he timed everything perfectly.
The food & sangria were absolutely wonderful! We got lucky at lunch & were able to get 2 seats at the bar without reservations. Recommend making reservations for lunch & dinner. Reasonable prices & beautiful presentation. Tempura asparagus was huge & delicious. Ham croquettes were delicious, a bit small so we should've got 2 orders. The quinoa & avocado salad was divine. The beef tenderloin cooked perfectly & delicious. Sangria sold by 1/2 liter or full liter. Service was good.
Really great small tapas place, that is pretty affordable in my opinion for the quality. You could make reservations in advance, although there seemed to be tables available on Friday around 1pm. If you're a couple, I recommend bar seating as the seated tables are a bit cramped and against the wall. Standouts were patatas Bravas, 100% beef burger, and beef tenderloin. The patatas was fried well. The beef burger was nicely salted and went well with the foie gras. Beef tenderloin was fairly soft and potatoes were very thinly sliced.
I came here highly recommended while visiting BCN and was so impressed with everything I ordered. I came on a week night so it was easy to grab a table. Staff were very accommodating and helpful with discussing the menus. The tapas here were incredible with honorable mentions to the patatas bravas, steak chimichurri and the lamb! Everything was so tasty and priced friendly for the amount of food! I would absolutely come back next time I visit BCN
I'm picky about food. I've definitely noticed that there are places getting high marks in Spain and Portugal on various rating platforms that were just okay for me. Food tastes can vary, so maybe I need to find the foodies who share mine. Regardless, since I was on vacation, I didn't plan to review the places we ate, but I have to do one for Tapeo. It's a small place, so it's tough to get in at the busier times. They do make reservations. The service was extremely attentive (you'll have a server, but everyone helps out). Normally when traveling, we try many places, but we loved what we had so much that we actually ate here three times (I'm a little embarrassed to admit that). I did not get pictures of everything, but we liked everything we ate here. In our three weeks in Spain and Portugal, we ate a lot of good food, but were also sometimes disappointed by highly reviewed places (we don't usually go to the really expensive places, so I'm sure there are some great options that we tend to miss due to prices). I did not find a place that I liked more on this trip. My favorites overall were the roasted lamb and the roasted aubergine (eggplant) with honey and lime. The bread with tomato was also a delicious start to several meals. Tapeo is a delicious way to celebrate Spanish cuisine in Barcelona.
We went back 3 times during our trip!!! It was absolutely amazing. Some of the best food Ive had thus far. The ceviche itself was mind blowing, I would highly recommend trying this! The service was on and off but towards our last visit they warmed up to us. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu (they've been in business for 15 years so I am hopeful they will still be there when I go back to Barcelona) ¡Fuimos de regreso 3 veces durante nuestro viaje!!! Fue absolutamente increíble. Algunas de las mejores comidas que he probado hasta ahora. El ceviche en sí fue impresionante, lo recomiendo muchísimo. El servicio fue intermitente, pero en nuestra última visita se mostraron más atentos con nosotros. No puedo esperar para volver y probar el resto del menú (llevan 15 años en el negocio, así que tengo la esperanza de que todavía estén allí cuando regrese a Barcelona).
Their Patatas Bravas was the best of our trip (we had order that dish at 4 different restaurants during a week and often like but loved them here). The English menu said chicken "wings" but they were actually chicken thighs on lettuce wraps with cheese and herbs that were delicious. Broken eggs on Iberian Ham over potatoes - great breakfast dish. Loved both white and red vermut!

Excellent quality food. Ordered the octopus, croquettes, lamb dish (kebab style), ribs, sausage cannoli and lastly bread pudding for dessert Stand out dishes were ribs, and sausage cannoli. Honourable mention to bread pudding. Well priced as well. Not too crazy considering it's Barcelona. These items with a few drinks will run you just under 60 euros. Service was 7/10. About the only thing I can be picky about. Space was a bit small but added to the quaint feel. Make a reservation for sure. I had one lined up and was able to get seated right away. Otherwise try and arrive off peak hours and you should be ok. read more

Tapeo means Tapas in Spanish ... and Tasty Terrific Tapas in Michael-speak. I love-luv-LOVE Tapeo and my wife love-luv-LOVES it even more than me. The food at Tapeo ranks as her favorite. Since she's my favorite, I agree with a glowing 5 stars. Watching the frenetic energy of the master chef working his magic right there in front of everyone at the small kitchenette (and usually by himself) was like watching a master painter at work except he's a master painter who can cook better than you or me or Picasso. I don't know his name, but I love-luv-LOVE his tasty terrific art. * Beef Burger (Hamburguesa) We didn't plan to order a "burger" for tapas in Barcelona, but this juicy tender Beef Patty with Foie Gras and Wild Mushroom Mayonnaise was declared by Olivia Z. as the BEST BURGER she's ever had. I don't disagree. (5 stars) * Iberian Pork Ribs with Honey and Mustard (Costilla Ibérica) Sweet honey and spicy mustard prove opposites attract me ... especially when marrying the flavors with soft supple Iberian pork ribs. (4.5 stars) * Foie Gras and Truffled Eggs with Mushrooms (Trufados) This took the most time to prepare and might of been the most worth the wait. It's beautiful when served and devilishly delicious when mixed. (5 stars) * Fresh-sliced Iberico Ham (Tapa de Jamon) and Bread Sticks You're here. They slice it right there. Don't overthink this. You want it. They have it. Fresh-slice ham happiness is easy to love. (5 stars) * Glazed Beef Cheek (Galta Galseada) Beef Cheek is one of my favorite foods and the supple mound of meat didn't disappoint although I'd prefer less sweet and more zest. (4 stars) * Large Alhambra Draft Beers Getting a "large" mug is such a welcome experience at a tapas joint and I didn't even try to resist. Cheers! Tapeo doesn't receive the hype of many of Barcelona's legendary tapas bars ... and that's a good thing ... because Tapeo had no wait and plenty of seats for us to thoroughly love-luv-LOVE tasty terrific tapas. read more

Came here last night for Valentines Day dinner. I was a bit disappointed in the service. I know they were busy but what irked me was the table that came in 10 minutes after us got their appetizers before we even did. Maybe the server gave it to the wrong table? Anyways, there were a few dishes that were really great (the pork ribs, burger with foi and truffle foi and poached eggs.) The other dishes were mediocre: bone marrow with miso (not worth the 16€) and the patatas bravas were okay. I don't think I would return to this restaurant. Stopped in here for a quick bite in the afternoon and was very pleased with the choice. They had great wines for a decent price and the tapas we tried were tasty as well. Great patatas bravas, steak tartare, and we had the fideos with uni which were amazing too. Service was pretty quick even though they were slammed, but overall a positive experience near where we were staying. read more

Had a wonderful meal at Tapeo el Born. Made reservations online and was seated immediately. The menu had a mix of Catalan dishes and specials were posted on the wall. Tried the pork ribs with honey and mustard, artichoke chips, grilled leek confit with olive paste, truffled egg with foie gras and mushrooms, and Fideua - black cuttlefish pasta. Everything was excellent and the Fideua is a great Catalan dish to try. Definitely a place to go back and try more food at. read more

Tapeo Born is a small, friendly, and lively restaurant. We ended up dining here twice during our visit and would go back again in a minute! We made a reservation for both visits and I highly recommend making one. We had a small table for two and ended up needing to keep our wine elsewhere because we ordered so much. On our first visit, we enjoyed pan con tomate, eggplant with honey and lime zest, Iberico ham, grilled vegetables, and truffled eggs. How have I never had eggplant with honey and lime before? The combination is perfectly balanced and addictive. The truffled eggs with foie gras and mushrooms were nice but I could have used something crunchy along with it for texture. The 2nd time we dined here we ordered prawn and sea urchin Fideua, artichoke chips, octopus, tuna, and the eggplant again. The Fideua was satisfying and slightly fragrant from the sea urchin. The artichoke chips were crunchy and salty while reminding me of fried artichokes from Rome. To end our meal we both decided to try white Vermut. I loved the combination of sweet and herbal notes! I ended up ordering two bottles of Lustau Vermut once we got home!! read more
Small space (bar seating, one row against the wall, and a few small tables of the front), but great energy. It was packed when we go there, but we managed to sit at the last two bar stools on a Saturday afternoon. The lighting is quite dim since the restaurant is located on a narrow street of the quarter. We ordered the croquettes, eggplant, bombeta and honey pork spareribs. The ribs were fall off the bone and my favourite. Everything however was delicious. Service and food was fast, and prices were reasonable. read more

Tapeo tapas selection were very delicious. There patatas bravas were great all the way down to the last bite. This was the first of four items to come out. Next is the must have honey pork short rib. They literally fall off the bone and melt in your mouth. I could eat those all day. This was the best selection of the four items we chose. The thinly sliced skirt steak with chimichurri sauce was ok. It wasn't the best for my taste but it also wasn't the worse. Last, but not least were these sausage mushroom bites that were surprisingly delicious. I recommend trying these (pictured below). I would definitely visit Tapeo again given the food experience. read more

I think this was our first "dinner" in Spain. I say "dinner" cause it was at around 5pm...way earlier than dinner should be had. Started it off with some sangria - which would be a constant theme in Barcelona. It was delicious. We shared a full pitcher - and was enough to fill our cups twice each. Patatas bravas - two sauces over fresh fried potato chunks....amazing. Croquetas - these ham filled beauties were so good. I had two and kind of wish I had more. Bomba - back home I call this a papa rellena. Mashed potatoes engulfing ground beef, rolled into a ball and fried. Really good. Spare ribs (costillas) - these were my favorite bite! While everything I mentioned is good to get....these are MUST GET. They had like a honey glaze on them and fell off the bone! Since you can eat them with a fork, I didn't lick my fingers...but I would've if I had to. Believe that. The wife had some fried eggplant (with honey). They were delicious and disgusting. I know...trust me, I was even more confused than you are reading this. They tasted like eggplant - but the consistency was like PORK BELLY....thus it made my THINK it was pork belly, without the flavor...I was all sorts of lost - so I just took another bite of my ribs and forgot about this dish altogether - leaving my wife puzzled - and alone on her quest to figure it out. AMAZING AND DELICIOUS! The restaurant itself is not that big so make reservations ASAP because there will definitely be a wait otherwise. I reserved a table for 14 people three months in advance and was fortunate enough to get a great long private table in the back of the restaurant. The servers were super nice and attentive. The food was spectacular. We started with a Magnum (extra extra large) bottle of red wine for 50 Euros and that got the hunger started. We ordered so much food. So much that we had to cancel some dishes towards the end because we could not eat anymore, and the servers agreed haha. We ordered three of each dish so we could share it between the group. A plate could definitely be split between 4 people easy. Aubergines with honey and lime - soft eggplants, crisped a bit on the outside. The acidity from the lime and sweetness from the honey was a perfect combination with the tender eggplants Patatas bravas- potatoes were perfectly fried and full of flavor from the alioli Croquettes of Iberico ham - one per order. Delicious, perfectly fried, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside full of mushed potato and a great taste of ham Tomato with Buffalo burrata- The burrata was melt in your mouth and super fresh. Olive oil was the perfect touch to the dish Iberico pork ribs with honey and mustard- I was at first skeptical on how good this could be but this ended being one of my favorites. The pork was fall off the bone tender and the honey glaze was insanely delicious. The sugar from the honey slightly crusted the pork ribs and added a great mild crunch texture to it. So good. A perfect sweet and savory combination. Oxtail- Very tender Stewed and glazed beef cheek - the sauce is very similar to the oxtail but the beef cheek itself was more tender and savory. I preferred this over the oxtail. Very well prepared. Truffled eggs with foie gras and mushrooms - I was alittle underwhelmed by this dish. It was good but nothing overly memorable to be frank. The foie gras was delicious but I think the eggs were just slightly a bit too runny for my liking. Worth a try still. Black fideua with cuttlefish - squid ink pasta. Watch out, it will make your tongue black but definitely worth a try. A plate could feed 6 people easy. The pasta is similar to angel hair and a creamy aioli is mixed in the dish. Delicate yet full of flavor. Cuttlefish stuffed with vegetables - The cuttlefish was executed very nicely, soft to the bite, accompanied by mushed vegetables (I think primarily eggplant), accentuating the flavor of the cuttlefish. Steak tartar - a standard well executed steak tartar dish Overall, an amazing meal. A must-try if in Barcelona. read more

Very small tapas bar with a huge wow factor. We walked in and we're overwhelmed by the amount of people inside with only two seats left at the bar. And now we know why. Absolutely some of the best food I have had in my life. The pork ribs with honey and mustard, the avocado and quinoa salad, the beef burger with foie and mushroom mayonnaise. This is fine dining for the average person and they were very fast. Incredible food as well as amazing drink options. You cannot go wrong. read more

Every dish here is incredible. Their bufala cheese was nothing short of the best cheese I've had in my life. Next time I'll have to ask where it's made... Usually super packed, highly recommend going during off times. Very close to the Picasso museum too if you are planning a visit. read more

Must try!!my absolute favorite was the pork ribs. The sweetest was so perfect and the pork literally falls off the bone. Could eats these all night. The steak was delicious as well. Cooked perfectly. I would pass on the sangria here. Too much juice in my opinion. Couldn't get a nice buzz which was disappointing. Nice tapas bar with a nice variety of food. Many bars around to grab drinks after a quick dinner here read more

This is a great little gem. My husband and I got drinks and several tapas for around 70€ My favorite was the patatas bravas and the honey mustard ribs. The octopus is kinda small for the price 18€ but the flavor and texture are great. The bombeta Barceloneta is to die for. So yummy. I totally recommend this place. read more
We stopped by Tapeo for lunch after the Picasso museum. The menu has a slight Asian influence. We ordered a flurry of items. The amazing: Fideua cuttlefish pasta, cannelloni, roasted aubergines w dry tuna (warning: smoky!), grilled octopus with chickpeas (cooked to perfection). The good: potatoes bravas (the sauce is more tomato based than others we've had), oxtail with Santa Pau beans, chicken legs with soya and ginger. The desserts (passion fruit panna cotta and chocolate with bread/oil/salt) we tried were both very good, though is not unique. The ones that fell flat: octopus Vietnamese roll (too fishy, sauce doesn't pair well w the roll), tripe (decently flavored but my husband described as "too tripe-y"), and the roasted lamb (combination of flavors is hard to describe and seems off putting). Despite the last three dishes on this list, we were very impressed with the former dishes, thus justifying the 4 stars. The service was actually very good for us despite what others have commented on. read more

Came to this place hungry after a morning of touring Picasso museum. Nice interior decor and gold selection of tapas and drinks. Tapas seems to favor more meat than seafood. The roasted lamb, skirt steak, burger with foie, and sautéed cuttlefish were all excellent. Would come again read more

Yelp 100 Challenge 2018 102/100 ! One of the most exciting aspects of Barcelona is the Spanish cuisine and the best way to experience it is through tapas. Tapeo was a culinary treat and it was a culinary expedition that we all really enjoyed. The menu is diverse and allows you to really explore depending on your palate. There's a section devoted to tapas from Barcelona, from the country, Tapeo classics, and traditional Catalan style tapas. The aubergines with honey and lime, asparagus tempura, and patatas bravas smothered in sauces were round 1 and the potatoes ended up being a real hit. Round 2 included the cuttlefish fidua (similar to squid ink noodles), timbal de salmon patatas (like a ceviche), tomato with buffalo burrata (refreshing, rich, and delicious), and the skirt steak chimichurri. The highlights here were the skirt steak chimichurri - very tender and delicious, and the salmon patatas. We also supplemented with a pancake like dish that escapes me but it was one to skip which works out because it is already wiped from the memory banks. We finished with the bread pudding which was a nice sweet delight to cap off the meal. Crispy on the outside and filled with a decadent pudding. There's a lot to try at Tapeo and that's the real strength. If you're willing to venture into new dishes you might find something that really astonishes you. read more
Amazing tapas! The best! You have to come here. The sangria is handmade and perfect (I watched the mujer make it herself). It's the perfect balance in flavors for sangria (not too sweet or wine heavy). You have to order the pork ribs with honey and the black fíduea squid. Also order sangria bc they hand make it. It's amazing. Everything else is as well but make sure you order it. read more

Four Words: Bombeta de la Barceloneta - this unassuming little gem of tasteful delight took me by surprise! So much so that I ordered a second and intended on heading back to Tapeo for dinner that same night (my last night in Barcelona) but my plans ultimately got derailed. I was wandering around the Born section of the city and decided to try a new tapas place and found Tapeo on Yelp. My appetite and taste buds were happy that I did. Cava Sangria - YES! Cortada - OMG YES! Skirt steak with Chimichurri - YES! You absolutely need reservations. The place is small, but the food is amazing! read more
