Good news: Equilibrium's beers are still great. Bad news: The restaurant (and taproom) have separated from the brewery and rebranded. Apparently they had partnered with a local pub to provide food service, but clashed on quality issues - the restaurant not living up to the brewery's standards. This explained why the first beer I had tasted stale, and lacked the great flavor you normally find in Equilibrium's beers. The restaurant also now keeps only one or two EQ beers on tap now, and no longer does growler fills. They have other beers on tap that are pretty decent, but as one of the many people who heard of this new "transition" and turned away said, "I didn't drive an hour to get beer I could've bought off the shelf at my local bottle shop". Although, not to be one who is easily discouraged, I decided to stay and see how the food was. Not so great. I paid $16 for a greasy, fatty short rib sandwich that instead of being served on "toasted garlic focaccia", was served on some limp, unflavored, stale bread that looked like it was straight out of a plastic bag from your local discount supermarket. The fries were decent, though. The service was pleasant and prompt, although they were a little dejected from so many people walking in and right back out, but that's what you should probably do too. That said, THEY STILL DO CAN RELEASES FROM THE SEPARATE BUSINESS OF THE BREWERY HERE. It's a different entrance. Just don't leave there and go into the restaurant when you grab your release, lol. read more

We went to Tapped to have Brunch for our Anniversary because all the reviews looked great for brunch. It was 11:45am every table had alcoholic drinks and no food. We waited 10 minutes at the hostess station for someone to even look our way. When the "employee" who was wearing beat up work out clothes came over she said she only had one table right by the top of the stairs/entrance. (although we had just seen the customers who were sitting there just get up and move to the bar). There were other tables open but they were also dirty. She shrugged and said well I guess we don't have anything for you. WOW what a way to treat possible customers. Went here for the beer, had the flight and enjoyed all of them, but selected hoptimization for my meal. The only problem is that I got the meal but never got that beer. The waiter didn't even offer another kind of beer. Had to asked for water to down a burger. Really decent little microbrew, with a half dozen (rotating, I think) brews available. The particulars they had on my visit weren't quite to my taste but they were well done that I think finding something more matching to my taste on a repeat visit is likely. Oddly, the porter, which I normally don't cotton to, was really tasty. Knowing this might be my only visit, I asked for what the best thing on the menu was (which I normally do), was pointed to the most expensive thing (red flag?), which was a mezzo-mezzo rib sandwich with an unremarkable side salad. Went here as we saw on FB that they were having karaoke on a Saturday and wanted to try this place out. We got a spot right outside the door and saw that there was ample parking which was great. We also saw that the bottom floor had a garage door that opened in the warmer months which we thought was cool. Went upstairs where they said the karaoke was being held and we waited at the bar for a nearby table. The decor inside is cool with low lighting, wood everywhere and hightop tables, booths and wrap around bench seating. There is a small stage pretty much in the center along the far wall for bands, etc. We didn't have to wait very long to sit which was good. The only table that could accommodate us was a table adjacent to the bar that was a combo bench seat and free standing metal chairs and we were unable to see the karaoke going on so we had to stand up to watch in between eating. The majority of the hightop tables are in a great location if you are watching a band or karaoke, etc. but the seating for me and our friends was unfortunately uncomfortable as they have these metal stools which are backless and cold - me being of short stature I can't handle sitting on them for too long. The booths there also were quite small and thus why we had to sit near the bar. Our waitress Michaela was attentive and our food came out fairly quickly although they had a limited menu which was a bit of a bummer as they were only offering a handful of entrees and their St. Paddy's Day specials. We split a mac & cheese and it was very good. I had the reuben with potato salad and it was huge and very good - had to take the rest of it home. Hubby and our friends had the corned beef dinner and they all enjoyed it. The bathrooms were a one-person bathroom which can be annoying when you have to wait on line and while it was fairly clean the garbage can was so full garbage was ending up on the floor. Also the lock on the door wasn't working too good which I didn't really like. All in all I would come back here again as it had a great vibe, good food and good service. read more

Came for brunch on Sunday. The service was lacking, I've given this place multiple chances... they say the third time is a charm but not this time. It took forever to get refills, and the food was cold by the time it reached the table. Bartender was rude when approached about lack of service, and the waitress was nowhere to be found. To top it off I was charged an automatic 20% gratuity without being made aware. Don't waist your time with this place. Tapped is a nice little restaurant/bar in Middletown area that serve a decent bar food and, a nice place for having cocktails, and they have pretty good selection of craft beers. I came here a few times and this place does serve me well. Usually, they're not too busy in the afternoon but busy in the weekend, especially when there's live music. It is located next to Equilibrium brewery, however, they don't serve beer from the brewery next door. Not sure what happened between the two, but it's too bad because both can benefit from the beer and the venue. For food, I always come here for the wings, which come in different flavors (Spicy Thai chilli, garlic parmesan, hot or mild, etc). The Fish fry wasn't bad at all, and pulled pork sandwich was great. I visited right when indoor dining opened and I felt super safe inside and enjoyed the food. I ordered buffalo wings which were super dry, but my Nutella french toast and pear martini were both amazing so it made up for the dry wings. My friend had a breakfast dish with eggs, potatoes, and toast, and she enjoyed her food. They were offering $10 bottomless mimosas but I didn't see that until we were leaving - perfect excuse to return! The service was good, obviously things are a little slower than usual due to safety precautions, but my friend and I both felt comfortable and we'd rather the waitstaff take their time sanitizing tables/washing their hands frequently, rather than getting sick from cutting corners.
