It seems that The switch inn at 126 East Main Street in Middletown NY has become the local epicenter for drugs and prostitution in Middletown New York. Hello everyone this is jack w a yelp edition of cheap eats 845 here w an important review/message for the those in the Hudson valley . It has recently been brought to my attention that the owners, workers and patrons at this establish are operating some sort of drug business. Recently found out that the owners are pressuring women to solicit out of there aswell. l've always heard SEX SELLS but damn they weren't joking around when they said it at the switch. Recently the owners denied a long time bartender unemployment who was trying to leave and seek recovery. Wanting to create a healthier life style. When this was made clear to the owners they were very angry, they denied unemployment and let her leave w no support after years of loyalty to them. They then pressured her to come back despite not wanting to jeopardize sobriety, causing full relapse back into drugs and alcohol solely just to bring in more people w total disregard for their employees health, happiness and safety. Exploiting/extorting their own patrons and employees for their own personal gain. The local police and NYS liquor authority are now aware of the situation. we all hope that this local staple to the area will be cleaned up , re renovated for once , and enjoyed again soon by all ! read more

I had driven past this place many times on my way back from my favorite brewery Equilibrium without stopping but always wondering what it was like because it looked classically old and it's location right next to an old apparently out of service railroad station. About 3 weeks ago I told my buddy we had to stop and check it out. I like dive bars and this place is classic ! I ordered the hottest wings they had and they were as advertised. I like hot but they were too hot for me but the bartender who was excellent and friendly had the cook come out and he offered to tone them down. When he brought them back they were amazing ! He put some kind of sweet sauce on them and they were off the hook great ! I highly recommend the wings on the bone. I definitely recommend checking this place out. The cook and bartender were really cool and for now this will be my regular stop on the way back to Jersey from Equilibrium. I stopped in last Saturday and will be again this Saturday intentionally ordering the hottest wings and asking for whatever sweet sauce the chef toned them down with on the side. read more

Just read some of the other reviews and I am very taken that some say they were mistreated do to their race. That is completely opposite of my experience when I stopped in for a bite prior to going to a concert at the raceway this past tues., FOOD was great...fully loaded burger that came out HOT and cooked as requested and my friends BLT WRAP was delicious as well. Both servings were large and generous and we both only ate half and bagged the rest for later. Bartenders were both extremely friendly to all of us at the bar...mixed race crowd and nobody was mistreated by any means as a matter of fact we were all chatting and joking around. Sara was our bartender who waited on us efficiently and made AWESOME drinks...mine were doubles and they tasted great. I will DEF be back next time I am in the area....also WILL DEF stop in to try the new tavern that the owners opened in Pine Bush ....LONGSRTEET TAVERN....looking forward to it!!!! If you want BAD attitude and expensive drinks, come to the Switch Inn. I went in on a Thursday evening for some wings and beer. The wings were good but small, the draft beer was piss warm. Even with a frozen mug.! I asked the bartender why the beer was so warm and she Rudely replied "if you don't like you can go somewhere else!" I was so upset that I didn't even finish my food or beer! And my bill was almost 20 bucks for 10 wings and 1 piss warm draft beer!!! I spoke with another gentleman while I was waiting and he too was complaining about the attitude of the bartender! Ok let me start by saying this place is way overpriced for finger foods! Me and my girlfriend went out for some food and drinks and our bill was almost 90 dollars!!! My girlfriend's cheeseburger was RAW on the inside....disgusting. We had to be sent back to be cooked more and my fries were undercooked and soggy! Like really....who cant cook French fries correctly???? And to add the burger then came back like a hockey puck after we complained it was raw on the inside. They should have refunded some of the bill or did something to make up for it, but guess what, instead we got attitude from the server and a 90 dollar bill!! Ridiculous!! Eighteen of us took over the dining area of The Switch Inn for brunch. The weather was rainy and nasty so we couldn't eat outside on the patio. However, Owner Ron and Server Sarah were so warm, friendly and accommodating - Ron even brought out brand new tablecloths to cover all the tables we had rearranged into one BIG long table. The unlimited Mimosas were flowing, my breakfast burrito was amazing, and we all had a wonderful time. Do you want to go to a bar where everyone knows your name? The Switch makes you feel right at home. I follow on Facebook so that I can see the amazing daily specials and weekly events. The Switch offers everything from Karaoke to Psychic Nights. The food is literally to die for! It is like my grandma works in the kitchen! EVERYTHING is homemade and the portions are huge. If they do not carry your favorite beer just tell the owner Ron and you can be sure it will be there the next time you go. I have been going to the Switch Inn for a few years now and I must say that I have made some long term friendships there. We always have a great time, singing and dancing the night away or sitting quietly enjoying dinner and some great live music. Rhonda and Jess the bartenders do a fabulous job. The food is great bar food, my only suggestion would be to add some healthy appetizers for chunky girls like myself..LOL. Like a crudité veggie platter or some gluten free chips and spinach dip!! my husband and I came up here for a wedding and found this bar in Google and it was 5 minutes from our hotel and thought why not. Jessie and Sam were the bartenders tonight and they were both amazing! We we're greeted the second we got to the bar and asked if we wanted a food menu. First of all, the wings were incredible!! Delicious and a great price! Second of all, the bar was PACKED and the bartenders were professional and attentive to every customer. The Switch Inn was just the oasis I was looking for after spending way too much time in the Middletown DMV office just down the street. I love a good dive bar and this place just made my top 10 which is a nation wide compilation. Really nice people at the switch inn. They helped me greatly with my dad's passing, by setting up a fund raiser and celebration of life service in honor of my dad. To help with the funeral expenses.
