I picked this spot because the menu said they have lengua and tripe options. We arrived around 2pm and the place was empty. We were sat at a table that was very wobbly - I kept worrying my water cup was going to spill. Server brought menus. I was told they did not have lengua or tripas today. So I ordered the barbacoa tacos. My husband ordered the birria burrito and we got loaded fries with al pastor. Server brought out his beer, but didn't bring a bottle opener. Then she brought out chips and salsa bottles, but no dish to put the salsa in. The wine opener and menus stayed on the table the whole time until I handed them back to her when the food arrived. She also did not bring napkins so we grabbed the paper towel roll off of the bar counter top. She did tell us at the end while we were cashing out that she is new. The food itself was really good! I thought the tacos were excellent- the barbacoa was juicy and seasoned well - perfect little street tacos! My husband enjoyed his burrito- it was solid. I ate the other half for dinner later. The loaded fries were ok. The al pastor meat was the best part. We were already full so ate about half the fries. Overall not a horrible experience because the food was very good. Well 1st off, it stinks in here & the English between the two ladies is Horrible! This is truly a hole in the wall with sticky floors and counters. I got my food to go! It was cinco de mayo, they were not prepared for the amount of customers that showed up, short staffed, we waited 1 hour for food and then asked for a refund, never got our food. Also, my credit card was charged for food. They voided by purchase but the void never went through. They owe me $54 . I have called about refund and have been told they would work on it. We vowed to go a new taco place... and I'm so glad we did! Chips were yum but the two salsa's that came out warm was fire!! They had multiple Mexican beers and margaritas. My friends had the burrito and the torta. Excellent and super fresh made to order. Very rarely do I give a bad review. This place was a huge disappointment. Food was okay. The portions were extremely small. 3 tacos were the size of one normal taco. I have had a ton of tacos in my life these were the smallest I have ever seen. As a tapa serving they were even small. They were $3 dollars each, .50 cents would be correct pricing.. They didn't have any drinks other than bottled. Chips and salsa were not offered had to order it separately for $6. I can never get a picture of my food because I'm too busy stuffing my face! So this is a small mom and pop type spot...nothing fancy on the inside BUT the food is bomb!! Best birria in the city! Authentic! Shell done perfectly and still has that crunch....imagine getting home and your shell hasn't sweated in the box and become soft! This is it! They also have fish and shrimp now but I'm not sure if that's just for lent or not but it's good. The homemade hibiscus tea is delicious and she'll throw you a nice chunk of ice in there. Imagine the ice your grandma would freeze from water in a cup during a the summer time but it's the actual tea so your drink isn't watered down. Lovely owner! Explained the menu perfectly. Small location, mostly 2 seat tables, but lots of natural light. Working location so definitely casual. While we were there, "regulars" arrived, as well as a group of high school boys who were obviously familiar with the menu, so they keep bringing them back. :) Husband & I split the bisteca torta (dressed), chicken quesadilla and rice & beans. We turned down the offer to refill the chips and salsa, even though they were really tasty. The quesadilla caught my husband off guard because it is made with chunks (not shredded) chicken, and some of it is dark meat - not his favorite - but it was plentiful and filling. The torta was very good, though we didn't use the dipping sauce. It didn't hit any taste buttons for us. But the meat was good and there was plenty of mayo, lettuce & tomato. My fav of all was the rice and beans. SUPER flavor with a kick, and I love they came in the same bowl. Nothing seems to be served as a plate - all a la carte - but still reasonably priced. Husband even had the 2-for-1 margaritas for $5, I think, and he said they packed a punch. Will definitely return when authentic Mexican is requested. read more

Been waiting to try this place for the longest after coming back from Mexico City! The owner/chef/cashier is so nice and sweet! It was my first time here and he made me feel so welcome. This place has authentic tacos for really affordable prices. 2.75 each. I love supporting small businesses and this one is really worth supporting! I have been to Taqueria 2 Brothers multiple times and I've been blown away every time. This restaurant might have the most authentic Mexican food in the area. Everything is made fresh to order and is always delcicious. The last time I was here I had the al pastor quesadilla, which was perfect. You will feel like you are eating at your friend's home who has that mom that makes everyone feel welcome and wants to feed them. The lady that runs this restaurant is so sweet and caring. I ordered a chicken quesadilla. They were cooking a fresh batch of chicken, so she let me know it would be a bit longer than normal. When it came out, it was packed with cheese and chicken. She also gave us 3 homemade salsas. I only tried 1, because I really liked it (the red one). My only complaint would be that the quesadilla only came with sour cream, where most places give you a little guacamole and pico. I also wish there were some onions and peppers in it, but that's just my preference. It was quick and tasty and the service is top notch. I will be back to try more. read more

So glad I came here for lunch with my family. We were warmly greeted and our waitress patiently explained the menu to us. We end up with some tacos with different proteins to try. Birria Taco, Pork Carnitas Taco, shrimp tacos and Al Pastor Taco. We also got the shrimp burritos and the quesadillas which are my two favorites. Their homemade salsa is to die for! We gorged on cane sugar Coke, Jarritos and a very fresh batch of guacamole in casual shorts and flip flops. The food is simply very good. Street tacos and burritos fresh and traditional but with an added spice of a former Couchon chef (husband) leading the charge on recipe balance and food quality. Order at the counter. It reminded me of the delicious taco stand quality in Los Angeles. Mom nourished us with stories of their Mexico City home, and the bright, clean and colorful place was sunny and cool on a humid warm New Orleans day, complete with a blue water ocean mural. We are native west-coasters and we have been in search of this for our homesick palettes. We absolutely loved it. So go for the food, stay for the relationships and return for both. I felt like I was back in Acapulco before the cartels were chopping heads off and throwing grenades in the streets. Back to it, the Birria tacos were out of this world. I had the Pastor and steak tacos, as well, and they were fabulous. The guacamole is how it should be, with a kick. Let's talk prices. You get 5 star quality street tacos just like you would across the river at half the price. I take back the previous sentence, and would like to explain in the next.
