I ordered the Shrimp Macha tacos, and they were excellent. The shrimp were cooked well, and the macha sauce added a great balance of smoky heat and flavor without overpowering the tacos. Everything tasted fresh, and each taco felt thoughtfully put together. Overall, Barracuda is a spot I'd happily recommend. This place was the perfect non table service dinner spot! Took the ferry over for a quick trip. About a 7-10 minute walk. Easy to get there. Food was incredible! Love finding authentic and fresh tacos! And easy to take leftovers home too. They had bathrooms that were air conditioned so that was refreshing on a hot July summer evening. The staff were very friendly. Only outside eating. It is just a window stand to order and then get your food. But they had misting fans going and a cold water jug. The staff is super helpful and friendly, and they really try to make sure you have everything you need. One of my favorite places in the city to grab tacos and a margarita! The fish tacos are my favorite. I stopped by on my lunch break and discovered they have a lunch special which is $10 for two tacos with a side of rice and beans. The rice and beans were seasoned well and a great portion size. You order food at a window, pay (card only), take your number, and they will bring the food out when it's done. You pick up your alcoholic drinks from a different window. I've been to New Orleans over 20 times and I've never been to Algiers Point. A client of mine who is an actress and producer of independent films recently moved to Algiers point. I heard it was very interesting place that had its early roots in New Orleans history so I decided to take the ferry for $.80 that goes across the Mississippi from Canal Street to Algiers Point in about 10 minutes. Algiers Point, established in 1719, is New Orleans' second-oldest neighborhood, located across the Mississippi River from the French Quarter. On the way to meet her I saw historical homes, churches, artistic doors, porches, homes of many variety with early colonial, French, art, and 200-400 year old trees that had my head and camera spinning. We decided to meet at Barracuda, a window Mexican joint with a big patio that used to be a gas station it appears. The chicken tacos were very fresh with an unusual but tasty take on guacamole. Very good Horchata. Very tasty, reasonably priced and hit the spot as the one cuisine I miss when I travel away from the other LA, Los Angeles, is Mexican food. While Mexican food is diverse, regional and delicious, Barracuda serves up the standard Mexican that most people know but in an interesting and satisfying way. read more

Much like the Barracuda on Tchopitoulas, you'll find the greatest hits here at the Taco Stand. Same protocol - you walk up and order, then take your number and find a place to sit. The downside? This one is so very tiny in regards to a seating area (it has to be given the Point), but it is nice if you're just picking up to go elsewhere. Best bet - order a "pitcher" and some tacos/queso to go and have a picnic elsewhere in the Point. The food will be delicious, and you'll have more space (and more shade) to spread out in! read more

Barracuda is the Taco Tuesday King! I have an affinity for this location in particular due to my roots in the neighborhood. I grew up riding my bike all around the block and playing at the park across the street. I enjoy sitting at Barracuda with my tacos and seeing little ones enjoy the neighborhood the same way I did. The food is always bomb. This time I had the fish tacos and and a pork taco with the razzle dazzle added on. It was delish and lot more filling than I was expecting. It's all outdoor sitting. A bunch of wooden benches around picnic tables on sand gravel. There are heat lamps for warmth on chilly evenings and red white umbrellas for shade on sunny afternoons. No frills, informal ambience. Place orders through a small side window on the right side of the building. Get a number and grab a table. Service is efficient and the food brought to your table with a wad of napkins. Sip a margarita and relax. Neighborhood location across from Confetti Park where the kids can play before or after a meal. The beef taco was slightly grilled and had a smoky texture to the chunks. The chicken taco was meaty, tasty and slightly charred. The fish taco featured bits of pomegranate to neutralize the fishiness. Overall ranking would be beef, chicken than fish in that order. This was our biggest culinary disappointment on our trip to New Orleans and was the one I was most excited for being from Texas looking forward to bright, bold, Latin flavors. The margarita amazing! Ambience amazing! Presentation amazing! The tacos looked like they were going to be a burst of flavor and inventive but they tasted like nothing. The fish taco literally had no flavor. The steak taco was so hard we couldn't even eat the meat. Chicken taco was the best and the pork taco was nothing but a boat of grease. Easy five stars here! Upon walking up for my first visit and first order here, Kairi greeted me with her big smile and personality! She went through the entire menu, shared with me what the favorites were. I ordered what was recommended (crispy catfish taco and beef taco). Both were very good! The beef option served here is chunks of sirloin steak. The catfish was made to order and oh so good (look at the pomegranates on top). For a side, I ordered corn in a cup which is basically elote. The Ugly: Can not recommend their breakfast tacos. They are comically small and under filled. Like 2 small bites of taco for $3. And the breakfast mushroom taco was yellow. We walked up to the counter where we ordered our food. While the menu isn't huge, it definitely has a nice variety. Staff were warm and friendly and made me feel welcome even though I was just a one-time tourist. (Shout out to KK -- I hope she checks out Ms. Marvel!) Accessibility: The bathrooms are two single-stall options, wheelchair accessible, all-gender, with changing tables in each one. THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT! Parenting: There is a fenced-in little playground/tot lot across the street. So you could absolutely order a bunch of food, walk across the street, and peacefully have a meal while your kids play safely nearby. For parents of young kids, it doesn't get much better than that! One final thing: We had a local as our Lyft driver the next day and were talking about where we'd been, and he 100% validated it as a top spot. We took a rare trip over to Algiers and discovered this awesome little Taco Stand. It was a bit chilly and seating is only outside but there were heaters to keep it comfortable.
