Off the beaten track and that's a good thing. Unlike some other reviewers, we did not experience a long wait for the food. Everything was cooked to order and was very fresh. The fish in the burrito was drum and the shrimp was clearly local. The burritos were very large and very good. Overall, the value for a highly touristy location wasn't bad. Two caveats: The side of rice was distinctly "meh" and be aware if you have concerns about dairy. Even though the menu didn't list it, the burritos come was cheese and sour cream already on them. read more

Real nice. We had a shrimp omelet with a side of refried beans and a ham and eggs biscuit. The ham was nice and salty. Omelet was full of flavor, full of shrimp, light and not greasy. There's a new burrito king on the island. The burritos and tacos are exceptional. Taqueria 504Suazo's is better than the other famous food truck on the island and cheaper. Don't let the looks deceive you- the food here is fresh and fantastic! It may be a taco truck behind a house with some picnic tables, but the tacos are fresh with hot meats, fresh avocado, cilantro, limes and local tomato's, and a home made salsa verde! My wife had the carne asada chimichanga, overstuffed and lightly pan fried with lots of queso and lettuce and sour cream and plenty of steak. It came with sides of rice and tasty black beans. Along with the tacos we also got a cold Coconut Aloe drink and a Dr Brown's Ginger Ale- both welcome treats that we were not expecting! Good stuff! Was planning to go to another taco truck in town, but they weren't open in the middle of the afternoon, so 504 it was! Couldn't have been happier with my carne asada burrito. Normally when I order these from other places, I get a small amount of meat in a small flour tortilla that doesn't do the burrito any justice at all. Not here!! This is the best place to eat on the entire Island. We visited for 5 days in early May and went to several places to eat. We went back to Taqueria 504 four times. Don't waste your money on poorly made, sub par food that's overpriced. Really, skip the Flying Melon. You're welcome. Taqueria 504 is flavorful, fresh, and made to order. It's off the beaten path which is nice to get away from the tourists and gold carts. The owner and employees are super friendly and provide an excellent service. I recommend any burrito, and the chips w/ queso and seafood was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. I ordered this every time. We ordered the Philly Cheesesteak once and it was one of the best I have had. I am a food snob and a New Yorker with high standards so when I rate something high, it's not often. This taco truck was a GEM to find during our excursion to Ocracoke! The fish (we ordered the mahi and mackerel) tacos were so delicious; we were expecting fried and breaded fish like most places do but Suazo's served fresh hot fish that were truly the star of the dish. The shrimp burrito was also huge and they did not skimp on the shrimp, which were large and flavorful. Lastly, definitely get the Honduras cheese dip. Best fresh fish tacos I've ever had! Amazing fresh fish, avocado, lettuce and their tangy crema! Others in my group also thought their food was excellent - so I can vouch for the shrimp tacos and shrimp taco salad. Boy howdy I was thrilled when I discovered Suazo's! They have such a flavorful and unique selection of food, unlike any other I've had -- maybe that's because I'm from a little town in NC, but hey! Their fajitas nachos are to die for, absolutely stuffed with delicious treats. Their biscuits in the morning are hands down the best I've ever had. The food was so delicious, and one of few places open due to it being off season. The queso fundido was addicting and the burrito was huge and packed with flavor. The Buffalo Chicken wrap was very good and also huge! Had to knock a couple of stars off for time to wait for food. 27 min for a chicken wrap at lunch is entirely too long. Nobody there when I ordered and 2 customers came after I ordered. They each received their orders before I did so maybe they had an issue with my specific order. We stumbled upon this food truck on our way to visiting the Ocracoke lighthouse. It's parked next to a house in a mostly residential neighborhood and we pinned it as a "must go back" as soon as we saw it. The food did not disappoint - we picked up the jalapeño cheese fries and chicken chorizo tacos and both were excellent. The jalapeños were fresh and roasted to perfection atop perfectly cooked fries. Cheese was creamy and gooey. The tacos come 3 in an order and were served with tomatoes and lettuce with limes and a side of homemade hot sauce. Will def go here again next time we visit Ocracoke. read more

Good service, GREAT FOOD. We went here for breakfast twice. The first time I had a shrimp omelette and it was delicious. The second time I had their chorizo breakfast burrito and it was even better! My one suggestion is that if you are lactose intolerant you should not go here because there is ALOT of cheese. So good!! read more

Walked over to the Taqueria from our Inn for lunch. My wife and I split an OCRACOKE Fajita--beef, chicken, shrimp. Delicious and plenty for two. The ingredients were Fresh and well seasoned. Especially liked the shrimp. All perfectly grilled and served with warm tortillas. Nice hot salsa. Will be back here again. read more

The fam and I stay around the corner once a year regularly so sometimes the choice over where to eat gets old. There are alot of "institutions" on Ocracoke that are doable but just not great. They get by on their decades of service yet tend to phone it in.... they know there are only a handful of places to go, that enough will default to their establishments and they put in the requisite effort. We've been to "the other taco truck" and although it's good and clearly all the rage (went there last evening... A blogger was there taking pics) this place is stellar. I got a crab and shrimp burrito and it left me scrambling to review literally 5 minutes after consuming it. My 13 year old (*picky*) son got chicken tacos of which I snuck a bite... they were solid tacos. For mine I can't say enough... quality, fresh seafood well prepared and having that intangible element that tells you from bite 1 it's something special. The hot side salsa is primo for a fire eater like me but not over the top. I have to respectfully say that the other truck likely has seen the last of us as I can't see myself going back until I've been to Suazo's place at least a few more times first... and that we aren't here often, Suazo and his magic bus are getting our business. Other restaurants on the island are $2x as much... and could care less you are there and frankly I hate a crab cake at someones pub for lunch that has turned me off crab cakes it was so bad. Sauzo is friendly and obviously appreciates the business. His food should be an example of what's on offer... honest, fresh, affordable and make you B-line to his place as soon as you roll off the ferry. Cannot wait to go back! read more
