Calamari

Great hidden gem. We saw on their Facebook post they were open for breakfast. Service was great and the place had a great atmosphere with a view of the Sound. My wife and I both had the Heuvos Rancheros. It was delicious. Eggs were topped with a verde sauce. Others in our group got pancakes or omelettes and everyone loved the food. We went back again for dinner. We made reservations and were seated immediately. I ordered the Enchiladas Verdi thinking it was the same as the Heuvos, however this dish lit me up. It HOT is mean HOT. It was delicious but HOT. My with had the Black Drum special and loved it. We will be back but although it was delicious I will not order the Verde again. It was to HOT.

Oyster appetizer

went to this restaurant on Christmas afternoon because it was one of only a few restaurants that were open. I ordered an appetizer. This is their description of the appetizer from their menu *Coastal Gratin Stuffed Oysters Our version of a classic... Six shucked oysters stuffe with fire-roasted poblano peppers, mozzarella & gouda mix, chopped bacon & butter beurre blanc When the appetizer arrived, there were 13 oysters cooked the way it says above I can't eat 13 oysters. I'm only one person so I stopped the person who was waiting on me and asked if There was a mistake because there were three times the amount of oysters on the plate he said no that's how it comes. I said OK thank you you. Then I waited 35 minutes for a shrimp Poboy there were two other people in the restaurant besides me eating that's it a shrimp Poboy if you're completely incompetent and have never cooked a day in your life might take you 12 to 15 minutes to cook if you're an established restaurant with only two other customers I can't imagine it taking longer than 10 minutes. Frying shrimp takes 4 to 7 minutes, depending on the size and the. Then I got the shrimp Poboy with four shrimp on an 8 inch bun. I cut into one of the shrimp one of the four and it wasn't cooked so when the guy came back by, I told him that I was just gonna take my oysters to go and that I couldn't eat the shrimp Poboy and I also said I think it's laughable that there were four shrimp on this entire sandwich And so then he asked me how many shrimp I wanted and I said I'm I'm not engaging in this kind of toxic conversation. So he brought me a box and the check and I went up to pay the check for my oyster appetizer and I set them to go box down on the Counter in front of me I still can't believe this happened, but when he handed me the check right after he did that, he picked up my to go box full of oysters because I only ate four and threw them away and said that since I didn't like his shrimp, Poboy, I couldn't have his food. This happened to me on Christmas day, all by myself. I am not exaggerating when I say I've only felt like I've been in the presence of true evil a few times in my life and this man the way that he was violent and aggressive in his speech and his mannerisms and taking my food for me and throwing it in the trash two seconds after handing me the check for it is the most wild behavior I've ever witnessed in all of my life if you have a choice to eat anywhere else, I urge you to do that

I must say it's hard to do a review on just a drink. we did not have any food. I was not impressed with my margarita, felt like it was overpriced and the service was very nice, but wasn't very outgoing. Probably wouldn't go back just wasn't impressed.

The menu has good options and the food was tasty and hit the spot. The service was friendly and quick!

I came here for dinner on a Sunday night. I was seated immediately in a booth. The service was very good throughout my meal, the servers were attentive and friendly. To start, I ordered a Paloma. This came in a huge glass, and was pretty tasty, although a little on the sweeter side. Then for an appetizer, we shared a dozen oysters. They are listed as market price but they ended up being pretty reasonable and pretty good! Not the best I've ever had but better than other NC oysters in the area. For my main, I ordered the blackened red snapper with broccoli and mashed potatoes. It was meh, not terrible but I've certainly had better. The fish could have been more flavorful and better cooked. The broccoli was a little underdone but I liked the cheese on it. The potatoes were pretty good. I was still kind of hungry and craving something sweet, so I ordered the molten lava cake for dessert. It was pretty tasty, and presented really nicely with a lot of whipped cream, ice cream, and more chocolate. Yum! I'd go back for drinks and appetizers, and cake!

Coming into the grill, we were seated quickly. The restaurant had a slightly strong smell of cleaning products, but I guess that's reassuring. I ordered a Volare drink to start. I was a little shocked when it came out in a full on water glass. No little sip here -- this is a serious pour! And for the price? This is a generous drink. Next, I ordered dozen raw oysters. They were properly shucked and very fresh, though I am still not sold on NC Oysters (they're a scosche bland). But, these were good! The clam chowda was so thick I could have eaten it with a fork. Yum! It's a bit bacon forward for my taste, but I wouldn't say no to another cup. The bbq sandwich was mostly good. Some bites were overcooked, but overall it was good, and very vinegary. It's also served with red bbq sauce, for those that don't like NC BBQ. The chips that came with it were awful and actually stale -- I wasn't going to eat them anyhow, but, still. Dessert was chocolate lava cake. The presentation on this was amazing (slightly lowered by a spoon being in the whipped creme. Lol)... and it tasted aa good as it looked. A few minuses drag this place down from a full five, but overall, a great experience. I'd eat here again.

Fish tacos with mango salsa

Good food and service! Everything we ordered was delicious. We will be back again this week to try more. Get the fish bites appetizer!

Fried pickle spears on fish plate

Best place around! Great staff, gorgeous sound view, DELICIOUS food, updated and clean bathroom. Best burger on the island! Fried pickle spears were excellent and the sauce they came with was flavorful but not spicy. They have cute touches like fish shaped plates and the dining room is bright thanks to a large window that gives a lovely view of the sound. Also was impressed with how quickly our food came out after ordering.

Paloma!

Food, drinks and service was stellar! Really enjoyed the conversation with our server and the crab cakes were excellent.

Appetizer was barely warm, soda was warm, food tasted like it was prepared in a moldy basement. Left the restaurant hungry.

The hospitality was great, amazing vibes, and their food was AMAZING. I would recommend the Lamb. It was DELICIOUS. One of the best lambs I've ever had and also it comes with pesto gnocchi. Sadly I don't have a picture if it. Loved it, will be back again.

This year they added an outdoor tiki bar and it has great views of the sound. So, if you come early for your reservation or want to stay for a few cocktails after dinner, this is the perfect place. The main restaurant has both inside seating with AC/heat and seating that is mostly enclosed but is more like outside seating with large windows that are generally open when the weather permits....not a bad seat anywhere you sit! During the summer months they host great acoustic guitar performances that can be enjoyed along with your dinner. This is the place to go to in the Avon-Buxton-Frisco-Hatteras area for fine dining and well worth the reasonable prices. During our visit earlier this week we ordered a kids meal, Elk chops, lamb, and the filet for this in our group and everything was cooked to perfection. The Chef was helpful at making recommendations on how the Elk should be cooked and the recommendation was spot on! If you're in the OBX this summer, put the Inn on your dinner rotation---especially if looking for a more upscale experience.

They ran out of the fish on special but ordering after 9 at a restaurant that closes at 9 was understandable. We had the blue crab ravioli, shrimp and sausage gratin, and the sautéed shrimp. We ordered the seafood platter deep fried which ended up being a mess. The shrimp were chewy and there was barely anything of any item. Nothing was seasoned and the crab cake while full of crab was dry. The shellfish trio was the best item ordered that had plenty of scallops, shrimp, and crab meat. The pesto cream sauce was serviceable but the dish is average at best. We had two different daily specials, the mojo yellowfin tuna and the Parmesan crusted triggerfish. The mojo yellowfin tuna was cooked well enough, with it being mostly raw in the center, but lacked really any flavor and a tad bit overcooked on one side. It was served over some rice, beans, and a fruit salad. Off combination and not great. There was a side of what tasted like boiled unseasoned zucchini/squash. Abysmal side and a terrible dish, but not even the worst dish. The Parmesan encrusted triggerfish was the worst dish I've ever been served. The dish even from its conception is poorly designed as it has way too much Parmesan. Usually for a Parmesan encrusted dish there would be about an 80/20 split of breadcrumbs to Parmesan, however this dish was almost all Parmesan likely 10/90 of breadcrumbs to Parmesan. The overwhelming flavor of Parmesan was the only thing you can taste and totally masked the triggerfish. The worst part was while half of the fish was fine the other half had something terribly wrong with it. Instead of being flakey the other half was rubbery and chewy and tasted nothing like fish. This rancid half could barely be cut with a knife and made us sick. This was also served with a side of unseasoned squash just to make it even worse. The strawberry rhubarb pie and chocolate pecan pie were both fine but didn't amaze. With everything being so terrible food wise the restaurant is even worse with every entree being over $30 and the acoustics were terrible. The whole place is so loud when it's a full house and you have to scream to talk to someone at your table. The prices present a high quality meal but I wouldn't even pay fast food prices.

One of my favorite restaurants of all time…read more The mussels are soft where they almost melt in your mouth. There is almost no chewiness to them at all. The crispy smashers are both full of flavor and so crispy. Some of the potatoes don't get smashed enough and they are less flavorful but it tends to only be a couple of smashers out of the whole plate. The everything tuna was just as good as I remembered. The tuna almost melts in your mouth. The everything crust spices it up while complementing the avocado purée. The avocado puree does something that most restaurants fail to do, which is salt the avocado enough so it actually had flavor. I quite enjoyed the salad as the dressing had a strong soy flavor which was overpowering on some bites but perfect on others. The service was wonderful. The view of the water is such a joy. There is no place that I'd recommend more.

Not once did we feel rushed, about a 10 minute wait for a table and sat at the bar for a drink while waiting. I had the beef short ribs (not a huge seafood guy), and the wife had the catch of the day entree with red drum. Very good! Presentation and taste all on point. The small plate item we had as an appetizer was also great, baked feta which was phenomenal. The "painkiller" drink is very tasty. This was our second time visiting over the last year, we'll be back for sure. Not to mention the restaurants namesake, after the owners doggo, Po. Their t shirts and branding are classy subtle..had to have a shirt! Check them out!
