I wish they'd figure a way to properly package the beans so half of them don't end up in the bag. This place is my favorite place for tacos. It is not fancy, but I think it is the best place to buy tacos in the Cincinnati area. It is the most authentic tacos you can get. The lunch menu is extremely affordable. $3.99 for 2 tacos. There is not many place you can get 4 tacos for $8, especially with this quality. This place is cash only and parking is easy. My coworkers and I come here for lunch regularly and we always have great experience. I usually get al pastor tacos, and the flavor is just sooooo rich. In fact, their al pastor is actually much better than a lot of al pastor I tried in Mexico. Definitely a place worth to go. It is not a restaurant you may want to go on the first date, but it is a restaurant to test if a person can appreciate the real delicious food. read more

I've driven by this place 1000x and never thought much of it. I'm glad we finally went today, it's a pretty unassuming location but the food is excellent. I had 3 tacos: chicken, carne and pastor- all were great but the pastor was 10/10. $7 for 3, with sides of green and hot salsa. It felt and tasted like Mexico City. They also have a small grocery store that probably carries more items than what they had out today, but could be an easy place to grab Mexican sodas, beers and other odds and ends. They have a lunch special - 2 tacos w rice and beans for $3.95; will go back to try that next. read more

As you soon as you walk into this place you feel like you've entered a mom & pop place south of the border. Very informal, you sit yourself, can get your own soft drinks and beers out of the refrigerator and place your order with the server. While the interior is plain, the food is excellent. Tortillas for quesadillas are handmade! The bistec, al pastor, chorizo, and tripa were delicious. The al pastor had a really good adobada taste. Salsas were pretty good as well. It's been on my list forever, and I finally had a chance to stop by on a weeknight for dinner. It's a bit out of the way with nothing else around it and it's located in a strip mall next to an Ameristop. The atmosphere leaves little to be desired. It's part grocer, take-out, bodega, restaurant with four tables lined up next to drink coolers. We went with what everyone was raving about - the tacos and I was really disappointed. The meat was mealy and dry which was the first problem. It tasted like this meat was fished out of a crock pot that had been drying it out for hours. Aside from being dry, they were also extremely bland. There was little to no seasoning, not even salt. Usually out of 3 tacos, you can find one that really stands out - but across the board these were just bland on top of bland. The tortillas were nice enough, and the service was friendly. The only bright side is that it is cheap. P.S. This spot is cash only. Would not reccomend. read more

You order at the counter, menus are located there too.. and then pick a drink from which ever cooler... I suggest Tecate with a lime. Food: I had a chicken quesadilla which comes on a corn tortilla with shredded chicken and cheese on the inside, topped with sour cream lettuce tomato and cheese, with a side of avacado. Tip: there's red and green sauce on the table, go green! The best quesadilla in the area, HANDS DOWN! Also, I ventured into the unknown and had a Goat meat taco served on a corn tortilla with onion and cilantro: the meat was gamey and not my favorite.. but I can see why it made it to the menu. I've been here 4 times I'd say in the last 4 months. I get an al pastor and chorizo taco every time. The first time it was $4 the second $4.50 and $5 the last two times. Today I ordered to go and the lady comes out and hands me a paper bag. I curiously looked in and see a ball of aluminum foil.... I open it and there are two tacos inside. I would say I They had about 1/2 the meat they usually had in them and were much dryer. I asked for a styrofoam container so I could put salsa on them and take them to go. I open them up and ones pork ones al pastor. Not even what I ordered but with all the attitude the lady gave me I thought I'd just try what I got then I asked for lime and she comes out and says it's in the bag and picks up the bag and turns it over and nothing comes out. So then she goes to get me limes. I don't think I'll be back any time soon. read more

This place has very good quality Mexican food done very traditionally in a non-descript setting next to the lavanderia. I had a chicken taco and a pork taco with a side of frijoles. The chicken taco was good and the pork taco was awesome...delicious, savory and tender. It helps if you speak Spanish, but it's not necessary. The sweet lady who works the counter speaks broken English, and this place is authentic. You can tell by the prices and the menu - it has goat on it! Tried several times to stop by but they seemed closed. Well, they are closed on Wednesdays and Sundays despite what Yelp says. I visited with my fiance who is from Mexico. I had the tacos and she had the sopes (larger than the tacos and thicker tortillas). I had 1 of each of the chicken, steak and pork tacos. Ok, I lied, I had another pork taco! Drinks were Jarrito's tamarindo and a Fanta. They also have horchatta which my fiance picked up for later. it is rice milk with cinnamon and other stuff. It's ok for me. BTW they sell other Mexican products like real sugar Coke, popsicles, candies, snacks. The tacos remind me of what I found in various parts of Mexico. Shredded meat, onions and cheese. Pretty basic. These are NOT the tacos you'll find across the river at that place we all know is famous around here. But they are cheap and it is easy to get to in Covington. I enjoyed mine, She enjoyed hers. We'll be back. I'll try some of the other food. People were nice but I didn't have to speak Spanish due to my interpreter. Upside; cheaper, decent food, several foods you won't normally find in Mexican places. Not a chain. Nice people and authentic food. Downside: Small seating if you're eating there. Could be crowded during lunch/dinner time. I always worry about cleanliness but saw no reason to think anything negative. This is not a place to take someone you wish to impress unless you're impressing them with your ability to try food outside chains. **Update** We hadn't been here in a few years and decided to go back. We wont be visiting again. When we went we noticed a large group in front of us who between the 6 of them left a $3 tip. I felt bad for the waitress but after her service I understood why. First of all, she was extremely rude. I dont know where the sweet man and lady who used to work there went, but they're sorely missed. Anyway, we order and she sets my food down in front of me first and we wait for my husbands. Well, she comes back 2 minutes later, grabbed my plate from in front of me without a word and comes back with another plate. You dont grab people's things, ever. Then what she brings back, which was supposed to be sopes was open faced tacos. It was literally meat and cheese on top of a tortilla. Sopes are thick. Everything was bland and underwhelming, and the service was atrocious. This is a very small "hole in the wall" type of deal. My husband and I speak Spanish, if you don't, there might be a small language barrier (as another person mentioned) but I can't imagine it being a huge issue. They have a few wall coolers with tons of different sodas to try! We both enjoyed our food here. Please understand this place isn't about atmosphere it's about food. read more

Fantastic authentic tacos. I had the Al Pastor, Carne Asada and Barbacoa and I was able to try a bite of my girlfriend's chorizo taco. I can't even say which one was best because they were all great. I liked it as I was craving Mexican tacos. The wife was not such a big lover. She characterized it as a "dirty little room". Yeah atmosphere is lacking and yes cleanliness could've been better but this is a restaurant that you could stick directly somewhere in Mexico. Regardless the tacos were good and I had some horchata although I should've gotten some sort of Mexican refresco (probably toronja). The salsas roja and verde were both good. Two people came into my office yesterday for a meeting with my boss. They said they had just come from a "hole in the wall" Mexican restaurant (their words, not mine). The woman said it was the best Mexican food she had tasted in a long time. They told me where it was and I knew exactly where they had been. All I could focus on after that was Mexican food, so after work I went there to get something. I ended up with a chicken burrito ($6.00). It felt really heavy. I have a food scale, so out of curiosity, I weighed it. It was almost a pound! I wish I had taken a picture of it to show how big it was. It was so good that I truly wanted another one - good thing I only bought one. I will return for sure. They were friendly and the place was clean.
