My husband and I had lunch here on Sunday and thought it was delicious! We both ordered 3 tacos each. He had the Lengua (beef tongue) and I ordered the Chorizo. The tacos were very filling and I was stuffed after having three. I also had a Mexican Coke and my husband tried a Guatemalan beer. It is a bit of a 'dive' and the bathroom could use a good cleaning. Also, the smell of sewage, likely from the improper draining of oil into the floor drains that happens in many small restaurants, was unpleasant. But the food was amazing! read more

An actual hole in the wall I was thrilled to discover. In all honestly this may be the best Mexican food I have had in the area. The exterior isn't extravagant like the other restaurants on the street which is a key indicator that the focus is on the food. Humble interior and you get buy your own choice of drink from the refrigerator. The tacos were phenomenal. House made fresh corn tortillas with your choice of meat with onions & cilantro - Al pastor was incredible. Came out piping hot with hot sauce and salsa verde at the table. We also split a Marrano Mix - grilled shrimp, steak, chicken with chorizo that comes in a molcajete. Also came with refried beans, rice, and fresh tortillas. I got the tacos, while my boyfriend enjoyed the Torta (which is a Mexican sandwich). When I tell you we have not stopped thinking/talking about the torta since he had it months ago. I am bummed out that it took me longer to get here. it looks a bit nondescript from the street but the experience blew me away. you come in and sit down and someone will come and take your order. I had the Merrano which is one giant plate of protein. It came with cheese, chicken, steak, Peppers and onions. it was so delicious! It also came with tortillas as well as beans and rice. I would definitely get this next time. I bulk at the gym, so this was definitely necessary. I feel like this place offers many opportunities to get lots of protein. My friends had some tacos as well as other Other types of protein and they were very pleased. spices were great and just overall the food was cooked very well. Frequent visitor to the area staying at the Marriot Rivercenter. Decided to dodge the fusion joints on the street for something authentic. I travel the world and have decided (IMO) the best food is always in the least flashy places, ie back alleys, market stalls and street vendors. Never satisfied with the food at the trendy joints with $30 margaritas. This is an incredibly good and authentic little taqueria. It's easy to miss if you aren't looking for it, specifically. Wasn't quite certain how to navigate after entering the door...I just made my way up to the counter grabbed a soda from the cooler and ordered with the kind woman at the register. The true test (in my opinion) of a good taqueria is how many options are available (let's say, for a taco) and then how well they execute on those lesser ordered options. Ordered the tacos tripas and they were perfect. Nice and crispy on the outside, but not overdone, seasoned to perfection. Everything's fresh, good salsa, good service and cheap prices. Also it's clean and they took pride in their food. What more could anyone ask of a taqueria? Will be back the next time I'm in the neighborhood. read more

I've had less than stellar luck with more traditional Mexican food in Kentucky. And the ones that have had some level of promise have price tags that don't make sense. Don't expect a never ending pile of chips at San Miguel but you should expect some of the best tacos you've had in a very very long time. If you are craving Traditional style with 2 corn tortillas and a pile on onion and cilantro, this is your place. I took a tour of the tacos with chorizo, langua, carnitas, and al pastor. Hoping to find what they were strongest in if I were to come back. I will be back and I'd be thrilled with any of the above. The gf went with a chorizo quesadilla. I was excited because she rarely finishes a plate and that means I get her scraps! The dilla was pretty large but she said she just couldn't stop eating it. SO good!, I ended up here lost looking for a deli, I saw a deli nearby this place and walked over to it, but it was closed(wrong deli anyway) glad I decided to step in here! Best Authentic Mexican tacos I have had in years! I ordered 4 different meats, Onions and cilantro complimented each meat differently and wonderfully! Carnitas and chorizo where my favs, but the variety made all of them amazing. Served with limes and a spicy salsa verde that was wonderful!  I will definitely be going back soon! YES YES SO MUCH YES This tiny bodega-esque looking storefront is off-putting but don't let that scare you away! Taqueria San Miguel is a full service restaurant. They accept credit cards and have pretty much every kind Mexican beer your little heart could desire. And surprise! Local beer options too? Win. The place is very tacky but I kind of like it. It's different and it's fun. The music is blaring out of a giant black speaker and the whole experience reminded me of when we were in Mexico. The staff hardly spoke any english and we literally pointed to the menu to order what we wanted. We opted for the chorizo, the steak, and the al pastor tacos. The tortillas were house made, thicker than normal but still fresh and delish. Here's how you know tacos are delicious - all you need is the meat and cilantro and onion. I am a purist when it comes to tacos and I sincerely believe this should be the only thing on a taco. The steak was my favorite and the chorizo was super flavorful and crispy (as it should be). The al pastor was also marinated very well, I just happen to prefer the other two. But all three were very, very good. Here's why this place is awesome -- they are one of the only places I know of to serve traditional Paletas! What's a paleta? Essentially a popsicle made from fresh fruit. Not like a sticky, syrupy popsicle but like fresh frozen juice, fruit, seeds and all! We got the guava one and it was so refreshing on a 90+ day. They also had a pineapple chili one that I am currently having FOMO over. I need to go back and get it. Best part of the trip, on our way here we walked past the owner of another restaurant on the sidewalk and he gave us a menu. We told him we were heading here to check it out but we would be back. He said, "Well, that place is good if you like $2 tacos." I wish I had a picture of our faces after he said that, because WHO DOESN'T LIKE TWO DOLLAR TACOS?! This is a bucket list-er folks. The chorizo was a good spicy level. All tacos are served with onions & fresh cilantro on house made corn tortillas. The tortillas were very good. They had no idea what gluten free was so I risked it when they said your tortillas were 100℅ corn. So far this morning I'm not running to the bathroom. The place was empty when we arrived, we asked for chips and guacamole but the server returned and said his avocado had gone bad, so we asked if they have chips and salsa, he said yeah and walked off. He returned with a small amount of what tasted like stale generic Tostitos that just came out of the microwave and a squeeze bottle of some sort of green sauce. The chips were gross and the squeeze bottle not only looked like something a cook would use to spread the sauce but also was so greasy feeling I couldn't pick it up more than once. I ordered fajitas my gf ordered the sopes (might be spelling that wrong). My food was fine, it was a little bland but nothing hot sauce can't fix.
