Their American clients will expect those for sure due to Taco Bell's influence. To their credit, the tortillas were freshly made and were wonderful. The aguas frescas were also great. I recommend the pineapple flavored. The service was friendly and efficient. However I was disappointed with my order of carne guisada which was more of stewed meat in a gravy rather than the traditional Mexican style sauce which has tomatoes, onions, garlic, some kind of chili pepper and often chunks of carrot or potato. My friends immediately saw that it was not like Mexican carne guisada and offered me to order something else. I did not want to make a fuss, so I just mixed some salsa in with the gravy which helped it. My friends ordered the #1, the Jalisco plate, with which I probably would have been more pleased. The menu is quite extensive and I'm sure there are other entrées I would have enjoyed more. Next time I will probably try the chile relleno. I think it's kind of a hit or miss unless you know what to order. The décor was great. I loved the mural of the maguey field, a common site in the State of Jalisco. I would be glad to try them again. I went to this establishment on Saturday and ordered 2 menudos, one for my mom and myself. When the food came I noticed it had a lot of salt (Salado), so I asked for extra lemon. Maybe I can fix it with that, but no it' didn't work. I didn't want to be rude to the waitress but my mom's menudo was salty as well. She finally told the waitress and she said well I saw y'all eating it, but we honestly only took about 4 spoonfuls of it. Frequent this place about once a month and it has slowly declined and today's visit finally made my "will no longer frequent" list. Place was understaffed, had one waitress for the seven tables that had patrons. Our order was simple, Chile con queso, torta, caldo de res, and two kids plates. No special requests. The queso never arrived and when our food was brought the waitress asked if we still wanted the queso. The caldo de res had good flavor but the meat was hard and chewy- inedible. Why did I not take a photo of my huge breakfast burrito? Yelp Elite faux pas! My coworker and I ran up here real quick for a couple of breakfast burritos. Burritos, not tacos as these things are huge! And man was it good! A huge flour tortilla stuffed with refried beans, bacon, eggs and cheese. This restaurant lacks a lot. The problem here is the language barrier and not having anybody know how to read or speak English. That is an issue for living in America. I have been going to the Winkler location since it opened and have been a strong advocate for them. I came upon this location when I was driving through the area. Like the other location, this one is busy! I got the #14 and liked the chicken, but the cheese enchiladas had less cheese then normal and the cheese on top was over baked and the whole enchiladas were dry. The rice good, but their refried beans not as good as their original location. Tastes like canned refried beans with no flavoring... no seasoning. Their salsa is outstanding and their chips pretty good. They are thick and dark and I usually like then light and crisp, but these worked really well. I don't know how this place got so many good reviews. I came with my family to send my stepdad to Missouri for a couple weeks. He wouldn't have Mexican food for a while. Anyway this seemed like a good idea. As soon as we got in we noticed that there was NO MUSIC. You have to pay for music. The chips were cold, the salsa was generic like it came out of a bottle absolutely no flavor. I ordered enchiladas with mole, the tortilla wasn't warmed up, the chicken was dry with no flavor, the mole was cold from the jar, speaking of jar the beans were absolutely atrocious! The only thing that was hot was the plate! The tortillas got solid in seconds I just can't believe this is called "Mexican food" as a Texan I am horribly embarrassed that the people behind us thought this was good. My mother's "margarita" was lemon water and when we asked for them to fix it they gave her a frozen margarita. I asked for sweet tea and got unsweet.
