She literally said, "I need to see your face when you take the first bite," which honestly felt like I was about to be part of some life-changing documentary. And then it happened. One bite--and I swear I was spiritually teleported straight back to Oceanside, California. I heard waves crashing, seagulls judging me, the whole experience. Food was delish! I got a California burrito! Tasting like back home! The salsa verde was so perfect! Q got the birria tacos and devoured them! Needless to say we will be back! I also got a piece of tres leches to go! I can't wait to head back and try something else like the birria ramen! Shall we talk about the service because whaaaat??? My coworker brought me back tacos from here for lunch, and now I'm here ordering more. They were delicious--the tacos crispy and full of delightfully tasty birrira. I ordered two tacos for lunch and shared one with a coworker, kicking myself for my kindness . The decor is casual and gives a family vibe. The music was not too loud and made you move to the rhythm. Authentic flavors and top-notch service! Great vibes walking in; laid back and friendly. Started my order and had intended on just a few tacos (carne asada, pollo asado, and dippy tacos) to-go. I asked what the young woman taking my order's favorite burrito was. She recommended the Cali or Sonoran but said she added crema to the Sonoran so I added the Sonoran 'her way.' I added one each: salsa, spicy sauce, and verde. The burrito was tasty and hefty! Adding the crema added another delicious layer of flavor and would order it that way again. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but the burrito was almost too big. I had to unhinge my jaw to eat it and it gave me three meals. The tacos were simple, authentic, and had great flavor. The dippy was by far my favorite followed by the carne asada, and the pollo asado. I enjoyed the "simplicity" of the tacos - corn shell, meat, cilantro, and onion. That's it. That's all they need. Meat was well seasoned and they added just the right amount of cilantro and onion. The verde sauce was my favorite because it had just enough heat without overpowering the flavor. I can't believe I forgot to get tres leches for dessert! So glad they have a brick and mortar - I wish them nothing but continued success!! I will definitely go back!! read more

I recently visited Taqueria de la Rosas in Jacksonville, NC, and had a fantastic experience. I ordered the Cali burrito and the dippy dippy tacos, and both were excellent. I really don't like leaving bad reviews, but people need to know before spending their money here. My first visit was great--clean, nice atmosphere, good food. That's the only reason I gave it more chances. Every visit after that has been a huge disappointment. The food is extremely overpriced for what you get, and the quality has gone downhill badly. Some of it honestly tastes store-bought, and other items were not even cooked correctly. There's no excuse for that at these prices. The drinks are also overpriced, and the horchata was so harsh on my throat it was genuinely unpleasant to drink. The atmosphere is just as bad now. The table arrangement is awkward and uncomfortable, and the whole place feels unprofessional. What really crossed the line for me is that they allow dogs from the business next door to come inside the restaurant--and even behind the counter. That is completely unsanitary and unacceptable. Overall, I would not recommend this place at all. It's overpriced, poorly run, and nowhere near the quality it used to be. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

I went here based off a review I saw on facebook. "best burritos even from the west coast" I just came from the west coast. I'll start with the dining and ambiance , extremely tight and awkward. Tables laid out awkwardly. I had to share a table with someone else. I get it though if foods good, who cares about lay out. I started my order with the Horchata. Which was so grainy from cinnamon it was hard to swallow. Not sure if it's an in house mix or a pack, but it tastes like a package with a ton of cinnamon dumped in it. So horchata was an absolute disappointment 0/10. Secondly, we got chips and salsa. I will say, a fresh baked tortilla chip can be great and desired. At first bite i thought " not bad". But as I dove deeper into the chips it really sank that I paid 7 dollars for them. 7 dollars for a basket of chips that my wife and I didn't finish because they were consumed in grease. 3/10. The salsa, actually not bad. 6/10 Now. Being from the West coast. Southern West coast. And have tried foods across the country and across the world, this was probably the blandest burrito I've had to date. It was huge, which is awesome, and 14 dollars. The cheese on the burrito wasn't even melted, no sauce, or anything to make it pop. Just some big steak cut fries, and some beef and cheese. And that's exactly how it tasted. 2/10. Lastly, we got some Mexican cokes to wash out what was just consumed. 4 bucks a pop. Geesh. Novelty item, sure, but after the atrocity we just experienced, another 8 dollars was painful. The servers were nice though, they were all very positive and great, asked how the food was and what not. One gal even asked if everything was okay as we through out half our food. I hope they take this review as room to grow rather than a diss. I want nothing more than great food to run on our streets. Overall, I'll give this place, a 2/10, or a 1/5 . Only because the food was held in such high praise and we paid so much for it. - Refine that horchata mix - Degrease those chips OR lower the price. -Add some chipotle style sauce on the burrito, melt the cheese, season the meat. read more

A coworker recommended this place & it did not disappoint! I'm originally from Southern California & since I moved 3 years ago to the South I haven't been able to find good Mexican food until now! The place is clean, busy (great sign), and you can see that people enjoy their food. I tried the street tacos, California burrito, and horchata ... it definitely remind me of home :) My husband also approves! Taqueria De La Rosa's is the BEST!! Myself and most of the Marines I know agree it is one of, if not the greatest eats in Jacksonville, NC. They NEVER MISS! I can't speak much on anything other than the Cali-Burrito because It's so good I never want to try anything else. My friends rave over the Birria Tacos and Birria Ramen. I get jaw surgery tomorrow and won't be able to eat for around 6 weeks and this was my immediate choice for "final meal" when my wife asked. I think that speaks volume about the quality and taste of the food! The red and green salsas are phenomenal with just the right amount of spice. First and foremost the staff was very welcoming, it felt like you were walking into someone's house just for a quick bite. It's very nice and quiet, it's as clean as a restaurant gets in Jacksonville. Their most popular taco the "drippy drippy tacos" is a quesa birria taco with cilantro and onions served with a consume which adds so much flavor on top of the braised meat in the tacos. I can't express how much people need to make this spot more popular. I highly recommend getting their drippy drippy tacos with a Jamaica drink it pairs so well especially on a hot summer day! I have been in this area for about 5/6 years now and only recently found this taqueria. This is the place. I'm from California and haven't found a good burrito place until now! I hope the service and quality of the food doesn't change because you actually get meat in your burrito and it's big like worth the price unlike other places I will not name.
