The Pina Charra $24 was served on half a pineapple, filled with bacon, shrimps, octopus, bell peppers, onions, pineapple pieces drenched in a red sauce and topped with a bed of cheese. It took over 20 minutes for this to come out, piping hot. It took another 10 minutes for this to cool down before I can eat it. This was a melodies of flavors. The sour chopped pineapple pieces went well with the red sauce. This came with some saltine crackers. Generally, saltine crackers come with soup. This also came with two crispy tortillas. The shrimps were de-shelled with tail removed, but not deveined. Halfway through my meal, I realized this was meant for two people. It is a big dish. The highlight for me was the smoky bacon. It was a nice surprise to find bacon at a taqueria. Service was good for an order at the cashier type of restaurant. Their other location by SF State University has good taco salads. I will have to try it at this location. Good job staff at Taqueria Dos Charros. Lunch was OK today. read more

Stay away from the shrimp!!! They don't clean the poop track of the shrimp! I ordered a shrimp quesadilla and didn't realize until I had already eaten part of it that the shrimp had not been cleaned properly!!! So disgusting!!!!! We get this place for delivery a bunch but I happen to see it on my way to the DMV (very convenient- probably 2 minute walk). I got my go-to which is pozole. I guess it makes sense but it didn't really clock until I ordered here in person but the portion of pozole was way larger here. It was served with a generous portion of onions and cabbage but no Mexican oregano. They do have it, I guess you just have to ask! Salsa bar has 3 salsas- red, green and orange. There are also 2 other items there such as pickled red onions and pickled/lime cucumbers, Serrano or jalapeños and red onions. Yum! This is a very clean Mexican restaurant. First time visiting with my nephew. You placed your order with the worker at the counter and they'll bring your orders to your table. So far my favorite Mexican spot. Food is good, service is good, and staff pretty attentive to keeping the establishment clean. Bathrooms are upstairs which is kind of junk. Chips not unlimited but haven't asked if we could get more. A couple of times we've come and they seemed burnt. Not a fan. You can ask for your burrito to be durado. I had been meaning to come here for quite some time. Probably a year or two. I frequent this area often. It's a large establishment with lots of seating. The bar is pretty sizable. I'm not sure if they have any happy hour menu. I came in for dinner. I wanted to sample the tacos. The menu was extensive with lots of selections. Three available types of agua fresca were looking all looking inviting. Honeydew, guava, and Horchata. I love agua fresca!! I didn't try any this time. I ordered two tacos. One vegetarian taco that was stuffed with rice and beans, and topped with guacamole. I also love fish tacos. These were yum! Not sure which kind of fish, which was breaded and good. I also love fish tacos. Here they use two small flour tortillas. To make it doubled. The food is not super inexpensive, the tacos run from anywhere $3-7 each. I will come back again, to try something new like a burrito. They give you lots of tasty chips on the side. And have three different salsa at a bar to choose from. Lots of people seem to like this place, it was very busy people, with groups of people coming in to dine. That's a good sign usually. I usually get the burrito or the California fries special. The portions are big and you will feel full plus they have a tv to watch sports while waiting for the food. Great service and lots of seating. It's a chill cool vibe that I come back to. read more

This taqueria kept popping up on my searches for burritos in the area so finally decided to check it out rather than stick with my regular spots. I got the al pastor super burrito because they had a note (didn't get to take a pic) saying it's an extra $1 for carne asada. BUT the super burrito is already $15.69. After taxes, it was $17.24 for a single burrito (not including tip). Holy guacamole! Now, if it was mind blowing and one of the best burritos I've ever had I wouldn't have any issues. The thing is, it was just ok. Filling and flavor was good, not great. The entire experience was, well...ok. Service was fine. Parking was easy-ish. Ambiance was ok. So it was all ok. Would I go back? Probably not. For the price it just was not worth it to me when there's tastier spots that cost less. read more

Ordered a super carnitas burrito to go for an early dinner. They offered me 3 small to go containers to fill with their salsa. Happily obliged and sampled all three which I found out later are all tasty :) My order was ready in less than 5 minutes and I was shocked at the weight of the bag. Super burrito will easily extend to 2 meals or you can split it with a lucky person. The carnitas tastes delicious, crispy and bursting with flavor, and special mention goes to the generous onions which added even more flavor and texture. Loved that they didn't include lettuce which has no place in a proper burrito. Paired with the salsas, it all makes for a very satisfying meal. I'd be curious to try the bar next time! My body has a strong reaction to dark meat chicken so I avoid it. Most restaurants only have dark meat with an extra charge on white meat. So I was excited to try the plate with chicken breast white meat with no extra charge . So I ordered the chicken breast plate white meat and I ordered that and an enchilada plate. I instantly had a reaction to the "chicken breast" which let me know it was not 100% white meat. Flies were flying all over the salsa bar. and the beef enchilada was not worth the price paid. They also didn't seem busy for a lunch hour when I arrived at 12 noon. I did not like how the menu pricing does not include meat pricing. Meat price ranged from $1-3 dollars that gets added on to whatever menu item you select. With the meat pricing, this places price range is roughly $2-3 higher than other taquerias and trucks in the area. read more

They give you one free bag but it for want another they charge you for like 6 chips in a bag and if you want extra salsa there's an extra charge for that too. No help yourself salsa bar. The horchata is way too sweet and was awful. Their burritos are okay. The meat is hit-or-miss miss. Sometimes it's nice and crispy, other takes it's fat and burnt. The woman taking my order was really kind and helped me really fast with a takeout order for 4 quesabirria tacos. They were expensive (almost 7 dollars per taco!!) but I wanted to keep my hopes up. It was not great. The tortillas were super thick and the meat had no flavor, so all I was tasting was some cheese and tortilla. The consomme was really the only source of flavor I could find in the tacos, but even then it didn't have much flavor in it either. There's definitely better quesabirrias elsewhere. read more

I have not been to this place in about four or five years because the last time I was here the food was mediocre. I thought I would give it a try. Looks like the place was remodeled and probably under new management . I ordered the baby burrito. To my surprise, it was delicious.! The burrito was not baby at all, it was like a regular size. It had the right amount of chicken beans and rice. It came with three different sauces, a green sauce, orange sauce and red sauce., they were all delicious! Not too spicy. I removed one star, since I think they only had one type of chicken. They did not have the shredded chicken, which is more moist. Had lunch here with my fav colleague since this restaurant is new in town taking over a space once occupied by another taqueria, which I frequented before but was so-so. Heard great reviews about Dos Charros and had to try them out myself and I'm super impressed! Large and roomy space and super clean! I ordered the 3 tacos plate choosing chicken, shrimp and fish as the choice of meats for the tacos. I love the beans and rice! Very unique recipe, the beans are really delicious! I loved the chicken and shrimps, super tasty! The shrimps are big, too. Nice! After you order you can gather up your chips and salsa at the salsa bar next to the cashier/order area. I had super burritos with carnitas and it was so damn good, except for sometime you can taste oily part but that was only a few bite on the top rather than that the burritos was very good. I also had strawberry fresa which was also good it was sweet but it was bland sweet not sugary sweet. You can also taste the flavor of strawberries without being overpowering the drink. I'm getting really tired of these places over charging, i went in for a super nachos and the menu said 14.99, but i was being charged 15.49, when i asked they had a bunch of excuses from, its an online price to it's the tax, which neither was the case. So, make sure you check what u are being charged. Note: 14.99 or 15.49 for some nachos is a rip-off to start, i ended up going to El Palenque taqueria on Hillside in ssf... 11 bucks, and i guarantee u it was much better.
