I found this place while looking for spots near the airport and man, what a gem. It's in a shady area and has no parking lot, and the service is slow, but it's worth all of that and still giving it 5 stars. I've never seen tacos with so much meat! They easily give you two tacos worth of meat in every taco. You get complimentary chips and they have a salsa bar. I went with fish, shrimp, and steak tacos. All were fantastic, but the steak edged out the win. I will probably try to hit this place every time I fly in to SFO airport. read more

Came here after seeing so many adds and tik tok videos. I decided to try the burrito with half steak and half el pastor. And then tripas taco and lengua. We wanted one tripas and one lengua but for some reason it became 3 tripas and 1 lengua. It was about 25 - 35 minute wait. They do have a salsa bar with three different types of red sauce, one green and regular salsa. My friend said the salsa was lacking something. And we asked for grilled peppers but we never got that. But the burrito has jalapeño. So not sure if it's normal to have jalapenos or was that the grilled peppers. Just fyi they do charge for the peppers. And we also ordered the strawberry drink which was forgotten. We had to go to the register to ask for the drink. The drink was not overly sweet but wish it had a little bit more pulp. We asked for the tripas extra crispy which didn't miss. It was extra crispy. The lengua was soft and tender. And was delicious. We liked that the tripas doesn't leave an after taste. For 8 tacos it was $46, half of those were the most expensive seafood ones ($1.50 more than the regular tacos. The seafood and lengua are $1.50 more) I don't think the fish tacos are worth getting - the shrimp is definitely better than the fish. There were some bits of the Al pastor that were delicious. There were bits of pineapple in it that were great but it was a little too sweet for one person in our group (not for me, I liked it). By far still and always will be the best taqueria in San Francisco for me. The service here is always excellent, they are so friendly and welcoming. I've been coming for years and happy to say they know me. The kitchen even when it's super crazy always sends out amazing food. IMO and a lot of other folks the best tacos and burritos in the area. Always get my go to steak/ Asada and Shrimp tacos. Always so fresh and delicious. Steak is juicy and well seasoned, the shrimp is packed with big pieces and flavor! They weren't picking up the phone, so we chanced it and luckily the wait times weren't too long and we were in and out in under 20 minutes. I was hella hungry so I opted for the ceviche tostada, carne asada super burrito grilled, and a steak and shrimp quesadilla. The ceviche tostada has to be one of their most underrated menu items. Great portion size, good flavor, and all for $6.95. If you like fish ceviche, definitely recommend trying this. The burrito was amazing as usual, crazy how the flavor and quality has stayed the same over the past 20 years. Kudos to their entire team for keeping the traditions going. My parents ended up snagging my quesadilla and they were pleasantly surprised how much they enjoyed it (I wasn't lol). The quesadilla is HUGE. They pack that thing with so much shrimp and steak, it's well worth the $14.95. It also comes with sour cream and guacamole on the side. This spot is located near a lot of car shops, but thankfully we found it on our way back from Colma. Parking here is difficult but thankfully because we went around 4 PM we were able to snag a spot. I would say though by the time we left all the tables were full. The ambiance here is very casual, and you can tell it's a spot where you come to relax and have a nice delicious meal. For food we ended up trying the Al Pastor and shrimp burrito. This place is amazing that they let you mix proteins and don't charge extra for the shrimp. I absolutely LOVED this burrito. It was massive and there was protein in every bite. For $15 for a super burrito, this is gold. If I lived closer I would come here all the time, but alas, I shall be making stops here any time I can! I've heard a lot about Taqueria San Bruno and I see why! Total hole in a wall in San Bruno- with the level of authenticity and freshness of the food exceeding all of my expectations. The pico is garlicky and delicious. The carne asada quesadilla was HUGE. The tortilla was floury and warm and the meat was marinated with a dynamic blend of spices. The cheese was creamy and everything worked so well together! The Mexican rice I sampled from my friends' plate was soft and flavorful- as were the beans. The steak and shrimp burrito still hits, even after all these years. We usually always get the food to go, but decided to dine in on our last visit. Even at 4 pm on a weekend, the place was packed - pretty much every table was taken, but we were still able to find a spot. Many people are also just sitting while waiting for their to go order so they'll vacate once they receive the food. Be prepared to wait a bit for your food - they make everything fresh and to order and the average wait time will be at least 20 minutes. You will get complimentary chips despite whether you're getting the food to go or dining in. Since our family was hungry, our first order of chips was gone within a few minutes. Even though they don't really do tableside service here, the guy that was working behind the counter was great about coming out and making his rounds. He proactively offered to bring us another order of chips, brought out an extra plate without having being asked because he saw we had a couple of little kids with us, and also asked if we wanted one of our burritos to be cut as he (correctly) assumed we would be splitting the food between the kids. He also brought out boxes for us to take away the leftovers once we were close to the end of our meal. The food itself was also fantastic - the meat is always tender, nicely seasoned, and perfectly grilled to bring out all the flavors. Ok hear me out... This MIGHT be the best burrito in the bay area. If it ain't the best in the bay, then it's definitely my new favorite spot until I try something better. Every time I try a new burrito spot I always think "does it beat my current favorite burrito spot?". After a few bites, it was an easy yes. Do I feel this way because of the Michelin guide or the articles written about it? No. The food speaks for itself. The location is small. But the menu, the flavor and portions are anything but. I ordered the steak and shrimp super burrito and it was so good. My burrito didn't lack anything. There was enough shrimp, enough steak. Not overpowered with rice and beans. Not one element overpowered. Each bite was even better than the last. I wish the verde sauce had a little more kick but it was still flavorful. How do you even explain a good burrito? For me, you just have to try it and hope my recommendation doesn't let you down. Another plus, My daughter has a few allergies and was able to safely eat the mexican rice and grilled chicken. Just know that eating one at work comes with a risk, you might not make it through the rest of the afternoon without dozing off. The food coma is very real and very worth it. The place is on the smaller side so getting a table can be a challenge. I wouldn't recommend it for a sit down meal, but if you're grabbing and going you're in great shape. Parking is easy with a lot right next door which is a nice bonus. The prices are reasonable which makes it even harder to say no. If you're near the airport or just want to try something authentic outside of the Mission, this is absolutely worth the visit. Why 5 stars? Because mosr burritos are the same. This one is not. --- --- --- When visiting the most famous Yelp celebrity of San Mateo County, I knew that I did not have to complete my normal routine when traveling, which is an absurd amount of food research. I simply told Paolo B: take me to one of your favorite places. And that's what brought me here. While I would trust this man with my life, I will admit that a thought entered my mind when he mentioned that this was one of his favorite burrito spots: most burritos are pretty damn similar. Is this one *really* going to be that much better? Well, it was. And that's why they call Paolo the love child of Guy Fieri and Simon Cowell of the Bay Area. The man knows talent and that's why he's goated. First off, I don't know if I've ever seen a burrito on a menu that consists of both steak and shrimp. Normally, I'd have to choose between the two different types of my favorite protein, but here, you get the best of both worlds. Plus, you can request your burrito to be grilled, which just adds a layer of love to something that's already stuffed to the max with it. Throw a little green sauce on each bite and you have one of the better burritos I've ever eaten. If I lived in the area, I too would be a regular here. I was all set to pick up sandwiches from Little Lucca when I remembered a reel I'd seen hyping up Taqueria San Bruno, so I took it as a sign and changed plans. I pulled in at 8:57 a.m. on a Saturday and easily found parking (a small miracle in itself). By 9:02, my order was in, and within minutes, a steady stream of customers started arriving to grab phone orders. Clearly, I wasn't the only one with this spot on my radar. I ordered two breakfast burritos, carne asada and carnitas, and had them in hand by 9:19. First impression: these burritos are HUGE. They also have a DIY salsa bar and include complimentary chips, which is always a nice touch. That said, if you're expecting a traditional breakfast burrito, just know that aside from the eggs, it leans more "super burrito" than classic breakfast. It's hearty, packed, and incredibly filling. The portions alone make it feel like a great value. Service was efficient and no-frills, and the restaurant was noticeably busier by the time I left. Taqueria San Bruno absolutely deserves its flowers (Michelin nod or not), but I wouldn't necessarily drive far out of my way just for it. Parking can be spotty, respect the signs not to park in certain neighboring areas. There's seating inside, with warm days, some seats outside as well. I usually run in and take my order to go. Check out the menu board, note the protein offerings, CARNE ASADA, CARNITAS, FISH AL PASTOR, SHRIMP, CHICKEN, CARNE ASADA, and the STEAK/SHRIMP combos are king. When you're ready, check in at counter and put your order in. I did not remember counterperson's name because I was literally salivating over the menu and its possibilities in my head! Taqueria San Bruno is a small old school taqueria. They are so busy, they don't answer their phone. So there's no way to circumvent standing in line by ordering online or by phone. Therefore, while I really liked my super burrito, and I really liked their salsa bar, and I really appreciated the friendly cashier who calmly took our order amongst the chaos in this overstuffed restaurant, I won't be back to Taqueria San Bruno...they've just got too many fans...and I don't want to wait 15 minutes in line to order, and then another 30 minutes to get my food. They give you chips and fresh salsa to snack on while you wait. We tried the super burrito and quesadilla and were blown away. First off, their portions are huge, including generous amounts of tender steak. The burrito was stuffed to the brim. Their tortillas are warm with plenty of tensile strength. It's literally wedged between random businesses on a pretty quiet street, but it was pretty busy inside for a Sunday afternoon. Service was pretty quick and very friendly! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. I've gotten take out probably 4-5 times in the past year and the food has been consistent in flavor. I always get the Shrimp Super Burrito but 2 out of 3 times I've ordered this, they do not add the guacamole or sour cream which is disappointing since I'm literally paying extra for these 2 items. I think it has to do with the fact that I ask for no cheese so they don't add the other 2 items... I might as well just get the Regular Burrito next time and call it a day. A big part of why we keep coming back here is the condiments bar. They have all the sauces and toppings in a 'do it yourself' bar area which I love. I can pick and choose which toppings I feel like grabbing without having to pester the workers for more. The parking in this area is terrible. I've been off peak/non peak hours and there is usually no parking. Best advice is to bring a friend, drop the friend off to place the order in person while you wait in the car somewhere.
