Order: Carne asada, pastor, and carnitas taco: there is heaping amount of meat for each taco. Carne asada and pastor were very flavorful that paired well with the onions, not dry. Chips: it costs 75 cents and tasted like an old batch that has been out for a while. didn't have much of a crunch to it. There are booth style seats for dine in, but parking is difficulty in this area. Food came out quickly in less than 5 minutes on a Sunday. You do have to ask them for sauces, and green sauce is the best. Grilled chicken super burrito $12.75. They recently up the price of super burritos by $0.50 since July. Somehow El Farolito keeps making the list for people's top five burritos on Reddit and other sites. I don't disagree. The reasons I like coming here are because they are solid, chefs are visible making your food, open late, salsa bar, dorado style if you ask, nice cashier staff and a less formal dining experience. Not many things are sadly and the Mission is not popping like it once was due to crime and other changes. Glad this place is still here! I've been going to the mission one for over 20 years. Even went to South Bay one. Today the table had green salsa on it. No problem. Found a new table. But the issue started when I told the guy I had chemotherapy yesterday & can't use community salsa (doctor's rules). I asked if I can have the chef put the salsa verde from his stash in the taco directly. Cashier guy says "oh mija, my sister went through that I pray for you." But he tells me they "only put the hot salsa on tacos." Ok I need the green mild one. Now I see chef putting the damn green salsa on a burrito. So I ask him for his non-communal salsa verde. He already wrapped my tacos so I asked if he can put it in a little cup. He says no, go to salsa bar. I told him I can't go to a communal salsa bar. Showed my damn bald head, I have a dumb ass mask on and said I can't today. I gave him a Little cup and kindly asked if he can put his green salsa in, but he says no. Go to salsa bar. Then cashier comes up and says, "he would have to go ALL THE WAY back in the kitchen (15 steps) to get your salsa." Mind you there are two people at register ordering. Not 10 or even 4 people in line. It would take 10 seconds out of this man's day to get me non-communal salsa for my safety. The one I took for my son is out all morning and to the afternoon with people Picking at it. I get it. It's not that serious. I'd eat it if I could but I can't per the nadir chemo rules. It is what it is. Not end of world but But it was a strong indication they did not care about me. Now I wonder what happens when they drop something on the floor. First of all, I prefer this location because there's more street parking and the area is a lot less congested with street traffic. The way to go is to not takeout if possible, especially if you want a wet burrito. It comes out all hot with melted cheese and enchilada sauce. I ordered a cabeza wet burrito this time and didn't want to reheat it when I got to my destination. l got here around noonish but the crowds was too terrible as opposed if I went to one of their other locations it would have been packed. Grabbed dinner here. It is set up cafeteria style, where you order at the counter and wait for your number to be called to pick up. I went with a tostada and a chicken quesadilla. The tostada was crunchy with the right ratio of bean to toppings. The quesadilla was so cheesy, the cheese pulled when taking the pieces apart, flavor was spot on it was even good as leftovers. This is my goto Taquaria if am in the excelsior area. their burritos are so good. Gotta try the guacamole sauce and pico makes everything even better. The horchata and melon is really sweet and should be always ordered to go with the nachos or any food you order. Prices are usually the same or close to what you pay in most Taqueria and you can pay using card, apple pay, or cash. Usually the afternoons, or late night is the best time to order your food or less busy and you can still find a table. Though even if busy you can expect to get your burrito or super nachos in 5 minutes or less. The guys here are nice, never had bad customer service problems, I sometimes use " habla español o English. Solo español por los amores eheheheeh," still even if you're not able to speak Spanish I always feel positive vibes here and the good ol' jukebox makes everything better. The only minor thing I have is the parking area here still needs improvement or finding a spot where the bus, uber, and delivery trucks are not in the way. Sure you can find parking at safeway, take the bus, uber, but would be nice if I could find a spot for my car sometimes. Overall am very happy this store is still here and the Super cburritos and Super Nachos are still Top Notch. This place stays really busy, well into the night. Long lines and plenty of loud chatter. I ordered a Carnitas super taco and ceviche tostada. So much meat. Both were very filling, a lot of food for the money. The customer service wasn't outstanding, but I could tell the staff was working hard and were probably ready for the night to be over. A great spot for Mexican in the Mission! Wish I had a place like Taqueria El Farolito nearby me in Manhattan! The line going out the door (worth the wait) clearly is a combination of late hour when I was there, limited space up front, and affordable delicious eats! Ordered two items: Torta Lengua and the Tostado de Ceviche. Highly recommend both! At El Farolito, you can order their Torta Mexican sandwiches with any meat: Al Pastor marinated pork, Carnitas deep fried pork, Chorizo Mexican sausage, Carne Asada steak, chicken, beef head, tongue, or tripe - but follow my reco below! First, don't be squeamish, Torta Lengua is a delicious beef tongue Mexican sandwich. For those unfamiliar, tongue, cooked like this, is a tender, moist piece of beef that tastes like other cuts of beef without any off taste, such as with other organ meats. (My first experience enjoying tongue was cooked by my Russian classmate's mom.) El Farolito's Torte Lengua, including also refried beans, avocado, tomato, lettuce, jalapeño and sour cream, comes on cut roll with a crispy crust. (See pic.) The pieces of tongue were buttery soft like the avocado. Although my impression is that tongue's a cheap cut of beef, El Farolito's Torta Lengua is $4.50 more than their Torta's with other meat and so worth it! Second, El Farolito Tostado de Ceviche was their shrimp ceviche and avocado on top of a flat, crisp tortilla. Also extremely yummy, although a little drippy. (Be careful to avoid getting some ceviche juices on you.) NOTE - This is a cash only place! The past 18 years of my life, I have been going to this place to get my burrito fix. Specifically this location bc their burritos were huge, tasty, and affordable. Fast forward to the other day, inflation has hit this place hard! The interior is still the same hole in the wall facade from the 2000's. But wow, The quality and portions have significantly decreased! I used to have a hard time finishing half a burrito (as a hungry teenager). But now I don't feel full from a whole burrito. The size is half of what it was before!! Taste wise, the burrito fillings weren't distributed evenly. One end of the burrito was filled with extremely spicy salsa while the complete opposite end was sour cream. Barely had any avocado or rice. There was some nice chunks of lengua, but it didn't have much flavor. Tasted like it was just boiled. The worst part was the having a huge tortilla clump taking up 1/4 of the burrito. It made the whole burrito experience so dry and miserable because it was very tough and chewy. The tortilla is the part that holds the fillings together, not the filling. I'd rather make the extra effort to visit the mission or north beach location. Their burritos are $2 less than this location and much heftier. read more

This is my place for a midnight burrito run! This place has been here for many years and it's my favorite restaurant. I like that it's an open kitchen and you can see the cooks preparing my food. He starts with warm tortillas, cheese, Spanish rice,refried beans, salsa, pico de gallo, meat and sour cream. They offer condiments such as salsa, tomatoes, pickled jalapeños, limes and sliced radishes. My super burrito was massive! Delicious and excellent!
