I was greeted by the sweetest man when entering inside Taqueria Dos Perlas. Right on the busiest street in Belleville, walking inside and you feel like you are in the cozy home of a loving family. Steak Nachos 8.3/10 - The first thing you see when opening these nachos are a healthy serving of steak, avocado slices, and cheese. No beans to be see though, untillll you get to the bottom. Combining all the ingredients together on one chip made for the perfect bite. So so so savory. I only wish a different queso was used instead of nacho cheese to really elevate this dish. But it was still really good even with it. Al pastor tacos 7.5/10 - Okay I gotta be honest here, the pineapple CARRIED these tacos. The meat was decent in flavor but a little too dry for my liking. I was also caught off guard by the flour tortillas, which lowkey added to the dryness. With that being said, the pineapple was on point with how much it was cooked and the juiciness it provided. Paired with the radishes and green sauce these tacos went from being kinda average to pretty damn alright. Man I wish more places did pineapple as good as this place. Jamaica 8.2/10 - I normally don't order this drink because of how strong a floral taste it usually has. But for some reason I felt like taking a chance and ordering it today. I'm glad I did because I finally found a place that isn't ode with that gawd damn flower taste. The drink just the right amount of sweet with a tiny touch of sourness as well, and the floral taste came in towards the end but still wasn't as strong as I worried it'd be. Green Sauce 6.7/10 - This sauce in terms of flavor is pretty standard as they come, minus any signs of spiciness. I would also like to point out that there was basically no chunkiness to the sauce at any point. It was very watery which kinda affected how much I enjoyed it on my food. It still brought in a good flavor to the tacos and nachos. Red Sauce 7.4/10 - I'm not gonna lie chat, this sauce was spicier than i wanted to admit. I regretfully took a sip straight from the cup and had to take a minute to reevaluate the decisions that led up to this point. Even though there was a decent flavor, it was overtaken instantly but scorching fire and all signs of life were destroyed. Sinuses were clear though Overall 8/10 - I had a good experience coming to Taqueria Dos Perla's, the atmosphere was nice, the people were nicer, and the food was filling. I see a strong potential in the nachos being even better with one single ingredient change, and if they used corn tortillas for the tacos instead and cooked the meat for slightly less time and more marination, these plates can become as good as they were destined to be. read more

As we order out a few times a week, I now find myself going out of my way to try new places to broaden my "Yelp Street Credit". So I landed at Taqueria Dos Perlas. VERY simple looking from the outside but extremely inviting atmosphere and decor when you get in. It is street parking only on a busy main street. I got lucky and scored a spot directly in front of the restaurant on this rainy evening. We started with the Quesadilla with steak in a corn tortilla. This is what really brought it down from 5 to 4 stars. Keep in mind, this was the equivalent to our appetizer, so we were very nervous after this. Extremely lack luster. Disappointingly little steak and even less cheese. It was as if we were eating a piece of a corn tortilla. Avoid the quesadilla. We then shared an order of enchiladas. Things were getting better. Enchiladas were solid. Nice kick to the green sauce with pieces of pineapple to hit you with a left hook. Came with rice and beans as well. This could've been a meal but we decided to share this to try different things. The burrito was the final thing on the menu. I got the Al Pastor burrito and it was excellent. Very tasty and well put together. Only thing that struck me odd was that it came with French fries opposed to rice and beans. I kind of would've enjoyed it a lot more with the rice and beans as the fries were average at best. I ordered online as I was stuck in traffic and everything was ready when I got there, which was prior to the estimated pickup time. All in all, very solid meal and there's plenty of seating if you're looking to dine in as well. read more

Hubby and I arrived her by happenstance. Upon arrival we were greeted by the loveliest service personnel. The aroma of delicious Mexican foods was in the air. We ordered beef nachos to share with an Hornchata. The Hornchata was so so so DELICIOUS and fresh. The nachos were just okay, guacamole and salsa were fresh. Easy to call and order for pick up! Got three types of tacos, true authentic Mexican tacos. We order Al Pastor, steak, and carnitas. The al pastor is very flavorful and tender. The steak tacos were dry and nothing special. Half of the carnitas were dry and the other flavorful and tender. The onions were not overpowering as other Mexican spots I have visited and cilantro is plenty! The elote was SOO GOOD, one of my favorite bites! We tried the Jamaica drink for the first time and I would add a bit more sugar but definitely a tasty try! The woman at the counter was friendly and accommodating to our lack of Spanish. These tacos took me back to my days in Sunset Park Brooklyn. Assuming they made the tortillas in house, the bistec and particularly the al pastor were really good. The food here is good, but the service is horrible. The lady who answered the phone did not speak English and luckily my fiancé was home to order for us because I can't speak Spanish. We ordered on a busy day and was told that when the order was ready, they would ask for our address. I don't know who would set something like that up, but ok. An hour later and no one asking for our address, we decided to call the restaurant. We called a handful of times and no one answers. Like wow, so we decided to order food somewhere else and in the middle of going somewhere else, we get a text asking for our address. And we reply and 5 minutes later, they were outside. When we asked how much everything was, the delivery driver said he didn't know and tried to guess how much our order was instead of calling and asking the staff at the restaurant. We gave him what we felt was reasonable since we weren't going to accept a price he made up off the top of his head and left it at that.
