How can this place get bad reviews? New Jersey is lucky to have this place. I happened by tonight, coincidentally a Tuesday, and ordered the al pastor tacos - got an extra free one for Tuesday. These tacos are the most similar (in New Jersey) to ones I've had in Mexico. For eight and a half bucks you get 5 little tacos stuffed with juicy, tender pork meat roasted on a spit, served on warm tortillas and covered with small diced onion and cilantro. Red and green salsa that's actually hot served on the side. It's in a cool former diner, like a beautiful Mexican tribute to my home state. This is a treat that is equal in almost every way to Katz's Deli, including the amount of meat, at a quarter of the price. It's the best value around, and nothing warms me like good Mexican food. I really want to give a 3 1/2 star rating because they're definitely better than a 3 but not quite a 4 in my opinion. First the service was amazing. The counter person was taking phone orders and in persons during a busy time and did so with a smile and she also ensured all orders were accurate prior to them leaving the restaurant. The menu is pretty expansive given it's "just a taco shop" and the offerings have something for true authentic Mexican taco lovers all the way to your simple Americanized taco folks. I went with an order of steak tacos (2 corn tortillas each) with pickled jalapeños, onions, cilantro and rice . The tacos were cooked to order which was nice so there was a little wait. I could've eaten there although space is limited, however, I took them home to enjoy. They're definitely fresh and authentic Mexican style tacos however the steak was under seasoned to me and a little tough. Delicious fajita combination platters with a variety of sides that come with the meat. They also have the choice between flour and corn tortillas. I went during an event and received 4 free tacos and a free jarritos while waiting in line! I follow them on instagram to find out about their events. My favorite of the tacos were chicken and al pastor, and both the hot and mild salsa tasted great (especially together on the tacos) . They have so many locations and the customer service has always been great, this location was no different! Everything was organized and we got our tacos quickly. I was a bit let down with this place. It is definitely more of a take out spot as people say since the seating is very limited. I like how many options they have on the menu though. Certain nights they have specials like Taco Tuesday so that's a good deal. I ordered the Mexican Tacos so I got two with fish and two with pork and it comes with avocado. Unfortunately the fish tacos were not that great. The pork was much better though. I like the prices and the portions you get! The salsas were both pretty spicy in my opinion so watch out for that. Couldn't tell if the green or red was hotter as my mouth was burning after adding some of one of them. With a lot of good taco places in the area, it's hard to choose which one to go to. This particular Alambre features steak, pork, onion, mozzarella cheese, jalapeño all that good stuff and for only $10. Everything was cooked and seasoned well and came with sauces, tortillas - just enough to fit all the goodness inside. The actual location doesn't look like much but what comes out is so good. I wouldn't suggest eating there as it is small with only counter seating, and parking is pretty tight so when its crowded it's not as enjoyable. They also came out to the Bloomfield street fair selling $2 tacos which was awesome, and a trend I've seen at places similar to Los Gueros is a different special every day which makes anyday good to come in. read more

We came here once a few years ago and weren't too big of a fan of them. My wife's coworkers recently convinced us to try their Rutherford location. We were pleasantly surprised! So now we go to the one closer to us. This place has changed hands so many times over the years. I remember it being a Greek ish or something place once. Even though we don't speak Spanish, their menu is somewhat easy to understand. We finally figured out what we liked and how to order it. One of the downfalls of this place is how small it is. With seating for 8 people, and with 3 or 4 people on line, the place gets crowded very fast! Their parking lot is also very tiny! This location also isn't as nice as their Rutherford location. It kinda feels like an expanded food truck with seating If that makes sense. We usually stick with the more basic items like a salad or burrito or quesadilla. With doordash, we can order online and have it delivered! I learned the hard way that many of their items are decently spicy so I stick with their shrimp as my meat! Chicken is spicy, so is their chorizo. Pork is ok, nothing too amazing. I really enjoy their churros and the milky drink that is siting at the register. Wife likes their burritos and rice. It's a small joint that reminds me of a retro shiny diner. I had the chilango because I love me some avocado on anything. Personally, the location is a little annoying. There's barely a parking lot behind the place, so I'm not sure what one does if there isn't a spot available. I believe there's no parking right in front, but people who want to run in quickly think rules don't apply to them, and if you want to make a left out, it's a little hard to see around the parked cars and make a clear shot. Not impossible, but the location is a bit annoying to get to all off on itself. I see this is as a good place to get some quick Mexican food if you have a craving.
