They are under new management. The food was bland and my margarita tasted like a slushy. I will not return.

Best Mexican I've had in Tuscaloosa. Cheerful atmosphere. Prompt service. Good selection of Mexican beers.

So that's exactly what I did--hauled myself over to Pastor's Kitchen to start the day off right (or at least try to). We sat down for a quick bite before heading out to conquer the world--or at least our to-do lists. I went with the ol' faithful: scrambled eggs and bacon. My son decided to get fancy with the breakfast tacos. Now, I've got to say, my bacon came out a little more crispy than Christian, bless its heart. The scrambled eggs were... well, let's just say I've had the same thing at about a dozen other spots in town. Nothing to write home about, but it filled the tank. Normally, Pastor's hits the mark--they're known for good grub and even better vibes. The place was spotless, the staff was friendly as always, and the Christian music humming in the background gave it that easy-going, Sunday-morning feel even on a weekday. So while today's breakfast wasn't exactly divine intervention, the company made up for it. After all, breakfast with your boy is always time well spent--even if the bacon's a little too close to burnt offering status.

We rolled into Dos Amigos Mexican Grill early... you know, prime AARP dining hours--because nothing…read moresays "living your best life" like maximizing flavor intake before the sun even thinks about setting. As luck would have it, we walked in alongside the GOAT himself, Coach Murphy. I told him to go beat Texas and he hit me with a "heck yea!" and a fist bump. Honestly, that alone was worth the trip--everything after that was just bonus innings. We made our way to the booth, and I stayed loyal to my usual: #31. Because let's be honest, if you've been to one Mexican restaurant, you know the rule--when in doubt, trust the number. The hot and spicy burrito did not disappoint, and this time I made a veteran move and got the sour cream on the side. I like control... I don't need all that dairy committing to one zip code on my plate. I prefer to distribute it like a seasoned strategist. Now, Dos Amigos has stepped into the future. They've got a "cheese dip sally" delivering food. Not sure who named it, programmed it, or gave it that much personality, but she rolls up loud and proud with your order like she's announcing a main event. Friendly? Yes. Subtle? Not even a little. Just hoping nobody tries to load her into their trunk on the way out--she's part of the team now. We kept things simple tonight--cheese dip to start (because that's basically mandatory), water to balance out our life choices, my trusty #31, and my better half went with the fajita steak quesadilla, which looked like it could solve most of the world's problems if given enough time. Truth is, we come here a lot, and they've never missed. At this point, you'd think we'd be fluent in Spanish--but I'm still over here confidently ordering "numero treinta y uno" like it's my one and only line in the script. Great food, friendly staff, quiet atmosphere... and now a robotic sidekick. What more could you ask for?
