Wow! A spot-on real deal Mexican restaurant in the outskirts of Tuscaloosa! Who would have thunk it? OK, we're big-time Tex-Mex food fans, but we find it quite difficult to find high-quality Tex-Mex or even Mexican restaurants in the US south outside of Texas. This place is a game changer. When we stopped here, we were prepared to be disappointed in issuing two or three star rating at the most. Every single item we ordered was tasty and delectable. Our entrées were Carne Asada; and, Shrimp of the Devil (Camerones el Diablo). Both were fresh, tasty, and delicious. The shrimp were prepared in a special hot sauce, which was in an of itself, delectable (but only if you have a big glass of water to drink). My wife liked it so much she just wanted to taste the sauce! We weren't going to have dessert, but after watching several dessert pass by via the waitress to other tables, we decided order Flan and a mixture of a sopsvilla with fried ice cream. Ugh! Spectacular! If you're in the Tuscaloosa area, go and enjoy. It's worth it. Prices are reasonable. There's a happy hour for drinks. We had two margaritas each: very very good. Love when new businesses can repurpose one's closing. This one used to be a Pizza Hut! It's a simple and traditional Mexican restaurant atmosphere, with tables, booths, and a full bar w/ bar seating. Even with a few staff, they're very efficient. My waitress was sweet and prompt. I was hungry & craving good Mexican food and this spot did just that. Also, noticed yelp & google are lacking so... here ya go! I ordered the Pepe Special, 1 Carne Asada street taco, and 1 chicken flauta. Everything was hot, fresh, and tasty! I wasn't a big fan of their corn tortilla for the street taco but, that's a preference. All this for less than $20!!!! Take a moment, and stop in for lunch or dinner. Perhaps my experience might've been better had I known that this was a different type Mexican restaurant than it is. I'm guessing this is more true Mexicano than what I'm used to. Attached to a gas station with a door between the two; and restrooms in the gas station side only. The food was not to my taste, service was slow (and there were only four tables with customers at the time, including ours), and the wrestling decor was just a turnoff for me. I must be more of a Tex-Mex person. But if what I'm describing is your thing, then you may enjoy it. I will say that the other couple dining with my husband and me did really enjoy their food. Definitely stop here! I was a little hesitant at first, but the reviews were great. There was no one in the parking lot when I pulled in, but it was 8 o'clock at night the gentlemen working were very kind and welcoming. As I was deciding what to order a gentleman was leaving and he said the food was delicious as always. I ordered the Cincronizada with shrimp and I asked for hot salsa. I told the gentleman I want it Hot and he delivered! The food is super fresh. The salsas are clearly homemade. I will make this a regular stop when I'm in town and you should too! read more

Delicious food even at 2:30p on a weekday. The rice is a make or break for me and the rice was delicious. Chips and salsa were homemade and warmed and also very good. My enchiladas were so fresh they were falling apart. Now that's fresh. The sweetest server and friendly staff. Reasonable prices but a touch on the high side. We stopped here just passing through this area, and were very disappointed after seeing it had such good reviews. My steak fajita dinner was overcooked. My wife's taquito dinner wasn't very good either. It was also just hot and uncomfortable in the restaurant. Our server was nice and quick, but I wish she had told me to pay upfront so that I hadn't waited a good 15 extra mins for her to come take my card. read more

This review could have been prevented but the manager has no idea what "customer service" means. I had lunch at this place on Monday 2/24/2025. When the charge hit my card it was for $2.00 more than my total after tip. I called today when I got home from my work trip. I asked do they charge fees for card users? Yes. How much? With accent it was hard to tell if he said 2% or 3%. But my charge was an extra $2.00 even which is closer to 10.6%. I asked to speak to the manager, the manager/owner is who I had on the phone. I said if you upcharge everyone like you did me that is dishonest. He proceeded to blame "the company" that installed the machines. I asked for their name or number but he couldn't/wouldn't provide it "right now". He said if you're making a big deal about $2 come here and I will give it back to you. I live in South Carolina. That's not going to happen. But this review is going to happen. It's not the amount, it's the principle. Beware of this place and their hidden 2% that becomes 10% credit card fee that wasn't posted (bet it is now!). Sneak $2 from one customer you get $2, sneak it from 100...
