    Chile Verde
    Alex V.

I am generally a harsh critic of Mexican food in Nashville but was pleasantly surprised when I came here on a Sunday afternoon. The parking was easy and the servers very friendly. I ordered a horchata to drink which tasted flavorful with a nice taste of cinnamon. I had the Chile Verde with rice and beans. The Mexican rice was as good as the rice I cook at home, very good! The beans were okay, likely canned. The pork was moist, flavorful and tasted fresh. Overall I enjoyed the food and would definitely have it again!

Amazing Food, Busy Night, Still Worth It…read more We visited Juicy Seafood and ordered Combo D (1 lb snow crab, 1/2 lb headless shrimp, corn, and potatoes) along with raw oysters, and the food itself was excellent. The seafood boil was hot, flavorful, and generously portioned. The snow crab legs were meaty and sweet, the shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the corn and potatoes were soaked in rich, buttery seasoning. The raw oysters were fresh, cold, and clean -- a great contrast to the bold flavors of the boil. That said, they did seem a bit overwhelmed during our visit. Service was slower than expected, and we needed to ask for assistance more than once. However, it was clear they were working hard and doing their best during a very busy time, not ignoring customers or being careless. Despite the wait, the food more than made up for it. If you're willing to be patient on a busy night, you'll be rewarded with a satisfying, flavorful seafood experience. I'd definitely return -- especially during a less crowded time.

I say that because, I had to go get my own napkins plastic ware and and plates. I ordered an Arnold Palmer, and at first I got received a unsweetened tea. I told the server and she brought back a warm sweet tea and a lemonade in separate cups. Then the clam chowder was horrible. Tasted like mop water. The calamari was fried too long and was rubbery. And so were the eggs. The only good was the okra. I believe in leaving tips even if the service is hot garbage.

I've never seen or heard anything about it, but against all odds got lost after getting my car serviced and found my way here. You walk in and immediately see windows and windows of fresh seafood and tanks, and stainless steel sinks lining the perimeter of the restaurant complete with paper towels. Growing up on the coast, I didn't think I'd find something like this in Nashville but was so pleasantly surprised. The prices are more than fair, and everything somehow tastes so fresh, as if it was fresh caught. There's a Louisiana vibe to the place, complete with an inspired mural. The crab legs were delicious but I want to come back and try the oysters! This is definitely the best place to get your true Cajun fix in Nashville.

My parents are visiting America for the very first time -- literally their first time outside China -- and I wanted to take them somewhere that felt truly local, not a chain restaurant or tourist spot. Get Your Grub On was exactly that kind of place. The owner was incredibly warm and welcoming. You can immediately feel that this is real homemade cooking -- not "corporate restaurant food." Watching him work in the kitchen and smelling the food coming out fresh honestly made the whole place feel like a true American Southern "farmhouse/local comfort food" experience. We ordered the fried chicken, catfish trio, and chicken pasta. The fried chicken was AMAZING: * perfectly crispy outside * juicy inside * smelled incredible the moment it came out But the real surprise was the catfish. It was unbelievably tender -- literally melt-in-your-mouth soft while still fresh and flavorful. Easily some of the best catfish I've ever had. Portion sizes were HUGE too. Three people ate for around $70 and we were completely full. Yes, the seasoning is definitely Southern-style and a bit salty for some Asian tastes, but even my parents -- who are completely Chinese and very familiar with authentic Chinese cuisine -- still genuinely enjoyed the food and kept talking about how good and unique the experience was. That says a lot. This place feels like the kind of hidden local restaurant that makes traveling meaningful. Not fancy. Not trendy. Just real people making real food with heart. Highly recommended if you want authentic local Southern comfort food and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere.

Found out they ran out of chicken ‍ The counter person was on her phone the entire time and not checking online order tickets or food as it was coming out from the kitchen. She was being rude on top of it all. Sounds like they were messing up people's orders as I heard another customer put on speaker with the same girl at the front. She didn't check customer receipts for some people ahead so I'm assuming she messed up the orders. Luckily the food is solid and I'm supporting this business since they lost their one of the owners to tragic and unfortunate circumstances. Hopefully they do better if there is a next time.

The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the tofu was browned to perfection. The grilled broccoli and cauliflower were snappy and contrasted well with the rest of the ingredients. The dish had a spicy yet tolerable kick to it, but I have a very high threshold for spice and heat (I added chili oil to take it up a notch!). Also, the portion size is BIG. I was very hungry so I had no issues finishing most of it, but it could easily be shared between two adults, especially if you order an appetizer or side. I loved the interior decor, which was simple yet eye catching. The mural encompassing the entire space in particular looked really cool. The place was packed, but the friendly staff were hustling to keep the line moving.

The hardest part about eating at Degthai is beelining to the Tiew Gang Vegan. (BTW, I am not Vegan, yet I LOVE the Tiew Gang Vegan.) They do everything well - the other curries, the standard noodle dishes, the dumplings - and it can be tempting to just go with your regular go-to dish like Pad Thai w/Chicken (BORRRINGG, but they do it well nonetheless.) You've gotta try the Tiew Gang Vegan. It's truly a once-in-a-year of eating out experience finding a dish this incredible. It competes pound-for-pound in the same heavy hitter weight class as the best Pho, Ramen, Jjamppong, or Beef Noodle Soup you've ever had.
