    Carnitas Dinner
    Chris C.

My know wife and I had our first date here many years ago and keep coming back. Food is always delicious and the staff is always friendly. I always order a different entree when we go because I know whatever I order will be great. I ordered the Carnitas platter last night and it was very tender and juicy. Very flavorful. Also dont forget about their happy hour that lasts until 8pm! Their margaritas are amazing and only $6.50. They're made with hand squeezed limes and not the pre made mixers other restaurants use.

I've been trying to give out 5/5 sparsely, but this deserved all of them! I read they remodeled the restaurant and it's super cute. The restaurant is modern and clean! Vibes are cozy, we dressed down, but can definitely dress it up and make it a date night. Free parking in the front and more in the back of the building. Service was quick, but we came to eat at a random time - Friday at 5pm lol. Starting off, we got the free chips & salsa - the best restaurant salsa I've had! The green salsa was not too tomato-ey, I feel like you could really taste peppers. It wasn't too spicy! To drink, I asked for a skinny margarita and I wish every margarita tasted like this one! It wasn't too sweet, which is what I like in a margarita, you could taste the tequila. I got the Mas Amigos Platter and my boyfriend got the Carne Asada. The platter was pretty good! I wanted some quick mexican and this hit the spot. The hard taco wasn't anything special but it was overall pretty yummy. The steak was very good actually and I didn't try the shrimp. The fries were house made and delicious! I definitely recommend if you're craving some good mexican on any random occasion :) I will be back!

My friend and I needed some delicious tacos in this freezing weather and were not disappointed!! The Jamaica mezcal drink was SO good, birria tacos & asada tacos were delicious, and the mixed ceviche had the softest pulpo I have ever had. Service was really quick & friendly, and we loved the music playing and where we sat. Would definitely come back again!

My new favorite Mexican Restaurant! This place is a must try. The food is delicious and there is a wonderful variety, including soups, salads, bowls, tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, fajitas, some wonderful appetizers, and even molcajete! We couldn't stop eating their perfectly thin tortilla chips and delicious salsa. But, we also ordered and LOVED the Mas Amigos Dip Appetizer (queso, seasoned ground beef, & pico de gallo)! This is a must try starter for the table to enjoy. It was lunch, so my friend and I both enjoyed some of their tacos. I had the Birria Tacos with Consommé (3 to an order) and my friend had the Shrimp Tacos (2 to an order). Both dishes were delicious and we vowed to return soon. The service was great and the restaurant is new, super clean, and decorated like a bistro rather than a typical Mexican restaurant. The prices are very fair for the quality of the food served. They also have a full bar and a frozen margarita machine. I recommend you try Mas Amigos the next time you are craving Mexican food! You won't be disappointed.

Cozy, modern Mexican restaurant nestled in a little inside corner of the street. The decor inside is beautifully done; with updated lighting, modernized dining experience. The staff is uber friendly, had a lot of patience while I glanced through their menu. What made me come to this restaurant was a photo of their charro beans and rice. That sounded so perfect for that rainy cold day. The server came out with a basket of chips, and salsa verde sauce. The chips were flavorful and warm to touch, my lips were instantly happy. The food came out shorty, it was exactly what I hope it would taste like. I will definitely be back for this and to try more. Ordered a tres leche cake to go, it was the best I've had in my life.

I try to refrain from giving out 5 star reviews unless truly warranted, and this spot earned it. The atmosphere is very modern and not your typical Mexican joint which was refreshing. Employees were friendly and attentive as well. The food: Their salsa that comes with the chips is fantastic. Probably the best "free" salsa I've ever had at a restaurant. Baja Tacos- Easily in the top three best fish tacos I've had. The fish was perfectly fried with a panko like breading, perfect amount of toppings, and a pretty big portion for just two tacos. Chicken Suizas- Delicious and fresh tasting chicken covered with cheese, whats not to love? We will be back!

    Wet Burrito - yummy!

What a pleasant surprise! The food was fresh and salsa and queso was a perfect starter. The service was friendly and quick. The atmosphere is modern and open. We really enjoyed the dinner and will be back again. Also, there is parking in the front and back. I loved my taco salad with grilled chicken and my son's wet burrito was huge!

Choriqueso, birria tacos and enchilada suizas.... half eaten!

Prices are reasonable and the food exceeded expectations. Everything was delicious! Got the choriqueso, birria tacos, and enchilada suizas. My new fav Mexican restaurant!

The food was amazing, the service was great and so was the vibe. Would definitely come back when I'm in town again.

    Homestyle Guacamole

Was craving Mexican food Sunday night and placed an Uber eats delivery. The food was very fresh especially that guacamole. I love that they give you two options because I prefer the chunky guac style. The meet was also very good especially the steak and chicken. My only complaints would be that the beef was a little dry and I did not love the refried beans. I'm sure this would be different if I walked in the restaurant and ordered though!

The setup inside is adorable and had a cozy, relaxed vibe from the moment we walked in. Our server, Tom, was absolutely wonderful. He even asked if we had any allergies when ordering, which we really appreciated even though we didn't have any. It honestly showed how much they care about their customers. I don't think I've ever had a restaurant ask that before! He was also super attentive and kept our waters refilled so quickly throughout the meal. One thing we really liked was the atmosphere. We loved all the fun live music spots around Nashville too, but this was a nice change of pace if you're looking for more of a chill, relaxed vibe where you can easily enjoy conversation during dinner. We both ordered the asada tacos and they were SO delicious, exactly what we needed. The rice on the side tasted incredibly fresh too, and the tomato and corn mixed into it were the perfect addition. You could tell everything was made with care. The staff was constantly cleaning tables quickly after guests left, and overall the service was just amazing from start to finish. I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised. The guacamole and chips were the standout of the meal. The guacamole was incredibly fresh, packed with flavor, and served alongside warm, freshly made tortilla chips that were hard to stop eating. We also ordered the esquites, since I'm a huge fan of authentic elote preparado. The flavors were delicious and well-balanced. My only suggestion would be to serve the esquites warm, I promise it truly takes the dish to another level. As for the tacos, the presentation was beautiful. The Al Pastor tacos looked fantastic, but they leaned a little too sweet for my taste and were missing some of the bold, smoky flavors I associate with traditional Al Pastor, like guajillo chiles, oregano, and other aromatic spices. On the other hand, the chicken tacos were excellent. They were juicy, well-seasoned, and flavorful enough to shine without needing much from the toppings. To top it all off, our server was friendly, attentive, and helped make the entire experience enjoyable. Overall, Bakersfield exceeded my expectations. While it may not replace the authentic taco shops of the Southwest, it's definitely a solid choice in Nashville, especially if you're craving flavorful Mexican-inspired food before a night out.

I've loved Ford Fry establishments for a long time, though his Nashville outposts tend to pale in comparison to the Atlanta originals, and Little Rey kind of fits that pattern. Little Rey serves Tex-Mex in a casual setting next to the Vanderbilt campus. You order at the counter and seat yourself, making this an ideal spot for a cheap, casual lunch or dinner with a crew. There's a dedicated private parking lot (almost unheard of in this area!) and lots of great indoor and outdoor seating. I came in the early evening on a weekday for dinner and it wasn't too crowded. My chips and piping hot queso came out immediately, and my chicken al carbon taco was ready by the time I got back from the salsa bar. The salsa bar is free and amazing: 6 cold dips and 1 hot dip, full of freshness and flavor. I opted for two of the mild sauces, which were super fresh tasting but not spicy whatsoever (that was on me and my choice). One small note: the self-serve setup made the salsa bar a little messy and unkempt, and I wish it had been tidied up a bit between customers. I came in craving great chips and salsa and on that point Little Rey absolutely delivered. The chips were thin, crispy, salty, and delicious. The queso was super hot and liquidy, not spicy. Perfection. The taco itself was more of a letdown: flour tortilla was cold, chicken was a bit dry, and without the addition of salsa it felt lacking in flavor. They're supposed to be well known for chicken here, so that was disappointing. For dessert I got the vanilla soft serve with chocolate and crushed buñuelos on top. Smooth, creamy, with perfect toppings. The large was a bit too much, but at $5 it was an unbeatable price for a tasty dessert. My whole meal, dessert included, was under $20, which was such a pleasant and affordable change of pace to the surrounding area. Service was friendly, kind, and fast. I'd come back for the chips and queso and soft serve alone, but I'll keep my expectations low for the other items.
