The red and green salsas were both excellent--great flavor with just the right amount of heat. I ordered the chilaquiles with steak and eggs. Unfortunately, the eggs I ordered medium came out hard. The steak was decent but nothing memorable, while the beans were flavorful. The chilaquiles were completely covered in sauce. The sauce itself was delicious, but there was simply too much of it, making the dish soggy. I was also surprised that the plate didn't come with tortillas. Service was decent overall, although my server didn't check back until I was almost finished eating. We are commercial driver's and the first time we ate here we did take out and I walked over from the TA. The food was so good that we raved about it to everyone. My wife and I had such great memories of the food but our schedules kept us away. We finally had some time off between loads it took us 2 years to get back and we knew that eating at Acapulco Burrito was a must. We even found a parking spot next door so we could sit and enjoy our dinner. Well the night went downhill right after walking in. Situated just off I-24 behind the Shell Station in what appears to be an old converted Huddle House, Acapulco Burrito is not only a restaurant, but an experience! We were at the nearby outlets and decided to grab Mexican for dinner, and Acapulco Burrito was just an exit away, so off we went. When we pulled in, it didn't look like much, your standard re-purposed building now occupied by a local spot. But when you enter, you are greeted with energy, whether it be the intricate art on the walls, the bright colors or the random guy carrying a speaker and singing to tables...this plus the random "vendors" carrying trays of wood carvings or bouquets of roses for sale. Again...energy from every direction! You can definitely tell this is a local gem for the Latino population. Everyone was super welcoming and accommodating for us non-Spanish speakers...with that, everything is authentic and in Spanish here, so be prepared to whip out Google translate as needed! The menu is just as authentic as the decor and vibes, and while they offer all the classics you are accustomed to, they have several traditional dishes as well. While we did not get it, the Caldo was massively popular, legit just about every table ordered...clearly we missed out! We went with a few classics and they were great...same dishes we are used to by appearance, but the flavor was next level, even the rice! Service was stellar. Do not let the decor/exterior fool you--the place is filled with friendly people and good food! On our last stop we went on Friday night and there was a live mariachi band which was such a fun time. They have both texmex and traditional mexican options but I would say the menu leans more towards texmex. The wait staff is friendly and very helpful. The portions are on the bigger side so great for sharing, you will not leave hungry! The chips and salsa are fresh and the salsa is definitely made at the restaurant. We have been coming to Acapulco Burrito since the day they opened and have loved them. Since the family has sort of disappeared things have gone down hill. The past 6 months the food still taste great, but the order is NEVER correct and even portions you get are missing elements. I live the fried red fish with shrimp and sauce - it is not cheap - but three times I get home and either sauce of shrimp are missing. Tonight it looks like I got 3 half eaten piece of shrimp. Twice we've ordered guacamole casserole and cheese dip but got none. Once got dip but no chips. Filet Perla, also a favorite, but only 2 Acapulco shrimp. And several other problems. I hate things have come down to this, particularly since the food itself has only suffered I'm that's things are not complete, and since I never leave without having spent over $65 for 2 meals, I am sadly going to stop going after years of great food and service read more

I continued my quest for good Mexican food in Nashville by stopping by Acalpoco Burritto, largely because of the Yelp reviews. Coming up to the building it isn't very inviting. It's located by a freeway off ramp in a old looking building by a gas station. Inside it looks very authentic. The highlight for me were the mariachis playing in the dining room. Great! I would say the seats are too close together and the sound dampneners are none existent because it is very loud in there to where it would be hard to have a conversation. I ordered a chorizo and cheese dip with chips which was actually pretty good. My main course was mole beef enchiladas with rice and beans. The rice was one of the better versions of Mexican rice in the Nashville area. The beans were the same tasteless, canned, liquid beans that seem to be all over the city. As for the enchiladas the beef had no flavor and the mole was too sweet for my taste. I didn't enjoy the food but gave this spot three stars because the live mariachi band was pretty cool. read more

The food is consistently good (the salsa is particularly good) but you never know what you're going to get with the staff. There is a language barrier so many times your order will be wrong and some of the waitresses have get a bit of an attitude with you. If you can put up with that, the food is worth it. Please don't take this the wrong way, but NOTHING better for us than being the only English-speaking patrons in a Mexican restaurant! What a great find this was, and we've passed it many times on our way to 24! We have been craving a more California-like Mexican restaurant and finally found it. The portions are huge, and the food is delicious. They have an extensive menu and great flavors, including the salsa picosa, which you must ask for but their version of a spicier salsa. The red sauce, which was more orange, was my favorite on the burrito as their green salsa was a bit too tangy for me. My husband loved his fajitas but ask for flour tortillas as it comes with corn. He said the corn tortillas were very authentic and he really loved the natural corn flavor coming through. The booths are all hand-carved wood with vibrant murals on them. I will be sure and take pictures next time as I didn't want to be creepy while people were eating. Service was incredible. We will be back! read more

So I feel like Ive had myself a wide range of mexican restaurants around greater nashville and especially Antioch, and I've gotta say, I think we've finally found THE one. This was hands down, one of the best mexican meals I've ever had. My feelings of being spoken to in spanish by 4 different servers and hostess aside, this meal was amaaaazing. (I guess I kinda look hispanic when I don't shave? Lol) The fish and shrimp tacos were superb. The fish was very juicy and the shrimp was very well seasoned. And only 2.95 each! The fish with stuffed shrimp was amazing as well. Soaked with garlic and lime, the flavor combo just worked so insanely well for some reason. 10/10 will go back again and explore the far too large menu. read more

Stopped by to grab us some Mexican food and mine was delicious and seemed ok to me but it had guacamole which I ate around. Vella I don't believe had much of a complaint on her food except they didn't give much sour creme with hers. Ashley's burrito however is a different story. She informed the cashier that she wanted a Burrito with no meat on it. They cashier asked "Vegetarian?" And of course no meat is vegetarian to us, so she said yeah. When she got the burrito it had mushrooms, onions. Green peppers (any and all vegetables they could put on it). Ashley can't stand mushrooms and wasn't expecting them to be on the burrito neither. So I took the burrito back to them to let them know this wasn't exactly what we wanted, and was told "That's what the lady ordered was a vegetarian burrito", I informed the cashier she don't like mushrooms and the cashier told me "I'm sorry but it's already in the system and can't be changed"!! I said excuse me? She rattled off a bunch of Spanish to this other guy that was in the restaurant and he walked up to me and said "what she's saying is, the order is already in the system and can not be changed. So you would have to purchase ANOTHER BURRITO in order to get one without mushrooms" WTH? HOW IS THAT GOOD BUSINESS???? First off you didn't clarify that yalls version of a vegetarian burrito meant everything possible that's a vegetable and second YOU CHARGE THE CUSTOMER FOR ANOTHER BURRITO INSTEAD OF TRYING TO MAKE IT RIGHT WITH THEM ???? We live in Cane Ridge so we first went to Acapulco in search of a nearby Mexican restaurant. Being right off the exit in an old Waffle House building, it seemed a little sketchy. I'm glad we went in. (Don't confuse Acapulco with the Mexican restaurant behind it by the hotel - now that one is scary.) This was about a year and a half ago. Since we've been dining here, the place has had 3 different owners. Luckily the menu didn't change one bit. We first started off with tacos. Don't picture the crunchy crap you get at Taco Bell, because those aren't real tacos. My boyfriend gets asada (steak) and I get chicken. Delicious. They come with grilled onion, cilantro, and lime although you can choose to nix those if you're picky. Squeeze some lime on it and eat it the way they serve it. We've also tried their fish tacos [yum], mariscos (seafood) soup with coconut [yum], tostada de camaron (shrimp) [yum], and chicharron (pork) papusas [YUM]. Basically everything's yummy...and cheap! They have a huge menu and we have yet to explore everything on it. The new owners are really nice and appreciate customers. They did make one change - free chips and salsa! Previous owners did not offer the appetizer, although food never takes a long time. Now instead of staring at each other or watching Spanish soap operas you have something to snack on while your food is being prepared. read more
