    Don Gato Burrito

This is authentic Mexican at its best. Try the shredded goat or chipotle shredded chicken in your sopes like I did, grilled chicken in your burrito don gato like my boyfriend did, or any of the other delicious filling options. We waited quite a while for our food but it was well worth the wait!!!

Was looking forward to the Don Gato burrito with the good reviews. My friend has had it five times and swore it was the best. It was somewhat disappointing. There was hardly any beef and an overwhelming amount of black beans. The chips were fine but a bit thick. The salsa lacked any spice and was pretty bland. However, the mole sauce was one of the best I've ever had. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good service and a very cute interior.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Very friendly staff. We were greeted and seated right away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Pleasant decor, comfortable seating And tables. Clean inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Extensive menu options. Decent portion sizes. Chips and salsa are not complimentary. Guacamole was fresh and flavorful Chicken in the enchilada was dry and Tortila, difficult to cut. Mole sauce was delicious. Margaritas were good too. We've had great food everywhere in and around Winchester since we moved here. This was our first trip to TG but we will be back regularly. I've only ever had one Mole sauce that was close to this. I may never try anything else. The kids also loved their dishes without any critique. This is a rare gem!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Really cute designs throughout the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Went for lunch in a Monday, not too crowded with about half the restaurant filled.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Free chips and salsa. Not too thin or too hard for the chips, salsa was delicious! We ordered the sopes - one pork belly and one lengua. Little crunch, juicy meat, overall really glad we ordered and tried it. Also got the carne azada (spelled with a Z here), thinnnn slices of meat but not chewy so we'll take it. The fried(?) onion was different and kinda interesting to try. Oniony flavor yet kinda sweet. Green part was crispy. Good attentive service. A nice little find in Winchester.

Taqueria on the South side of town. They serve authentic Guadalajara dishes. Burrito , street tacos , enchiladas, tamales , beef, chicken and fish. The dishes are deep in flavor - gourmet. Protein choices include pork, brisket, beef tongue , beef cheek and more. The chips and salsa for an Upcharge are thicker than normal , fresh fried and lightly seasoned while the salsa is very smokey chipotle flavor. Guacamole is fresh made and yummy. They have a full bar with several specialty drinks, beer and wine. The interior is small with wood tables and a Mexican flair. It can get quite loud. Service is generally good. This place is well worth the trip for something out of the ordinary in Mexican cuisine. Can be considered a little pricey but not overly. Try a desert !! And do not miss the churros with chocolate sauce !!

Food is great. Not as big of portions as I'd like but tasty and well seasoned. Not happy about a charge for the salsa and chips that are free everywhere else. Queso is nice and spicy. Very disappointing that they don't make the Al Pastor on a spit. That's a requirement for Al Pastor if you understand what it is and its legacy. Drinks are small also but well made. Been here a few times and service is always slow. Drinks are especially slow as there is just one bartender so order your refills when you get a chance. The place is open inside so you sit cozily with everyone else like in a cafeteria. Overall it's good authentic Mexican food but I'm still looking for the best out here in Winchester.

Love this spot! The dishes are so fresh and authentic! The service is always spot on! We had a lovely table off of the main dining area. They were busy but the staff are always so professional and attentive. This visit I had the Special of the Day, Poblanos Enchiladas and also the Special Cocktail of the Day a Mango Sangria. Amazing experience as always! Dessert was the Creme Brûlée. Great end to a fun day Christmas Tree hunting!

Do they take reservstions? Do they have beer and wine?

I don't know if reservations are required. We didn't have any but then it was lunch. I would recommend calling to see. Yes, they do serve beer and wine.

    Are lunch prices lower?

No, the menu is the same for lunch and dinner. Also, there is an upcharge for using a credit card.

    Do they have fish tacos?

    Si!

Do they make a chili meat sauce?

    They do not.

Everything we tried was flavorful and well prepared, and it delivered that homemade, authentic taste you hope for when you walk into a place like this. The location itself is a big plus. It's spacious, and they even have a separate room for large parties, which makes it a great option for groups or celebrations. I ordered a burrito, and the portion size was generous easily enough to leave you full. The food overall was delicious and felt worth the price. There were a few downsides on this visit. They don't offer complimentary chips and salsa, which was a little disappointing, and the servers weren't especially attentive, so service felt a bit slow at times. There was also a nearby table where kids were laying on the floor, which was a little distracting and took away from the dining experience. Overall, still a solid spot if you're looking for authentic Mexican food with big portions and plenty of space, especially for larger groups just don't expect the extras or super attentive service.

The chicken nachos were dry, but that quickly became the least of our concerns. My 9-year-old daughter found a chip with a tiny roach on it. It was absolutely unacceptable and disturbing. A server (who wasn't even ours) was very apologetic and immediately notified the manager on duty--a young man. Shockingly, he dismissed it and said it was "nothing," and never came over to our table to apologize. The server did agree that we should not be charged, which we appreciated, but the lack of accountability from management made the situation even worse. My daughter was so shaken that she cried and even threw up afterward.

El Centro is right in town on the walking mall. I finally found a place to park, lots going on in Winchester on a Saturday. I go in around 1140AM and the place is almost empty. Ok, I decided on a seat at the bar. It was breezy outside but definitely not cold. I decide on a frozen margarita, I think it was lime flavor. The bartender made it in a flash and I was still thinking about the menu. I remember the queso Blanco with chorizo was very tasty last time I was in the restaurant. I order that and decide on the taco plate (3 tacos) with beef. The margarita is pretty good. It's a Saturday and I'm wondering where the lunch crowd is. The queso arrives with chips. It's ok, the overwhelming taste was pork, not really the cheese I expected. It smelled like pork too...I ate some and decided I had enough. Chips and salsa were provided so I switched over to those until my food arrived. After a bit the margarita is half gone the tacos arrive. Refried beans, lettuce, cheese, Mexican rice and the rest of the taco fixins were on a big plate. Nice! I filled the tacos and enjoyed the rice. The beans were tasty as well. The taco plate is gone, I'm full and I finish the margarita, pay my tab and I'm out. I may go back next time I'm in Winchester.

I was pleasantly surprised with this experience. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with the molé sauce and my friend ordered the shrimp tacos. The presentation of the enchiladas was impressive and the shrimp tacos looked tasty! I loved the sauce on my dish and the cheese/queso. I was full after 2 and a half of the enchiladas. It came with 4. My friend filled up on 2/3 of the tacos. Soni was our server and she did amazing! She was sure to keep our waters filled and was consistently checking in with us. The cleanliness of the restaurant and bathrooms were still impressive, despite a couple of crumbs on the table when we sat down. The chips and salsa were still my favorite part. I can be pretty picky when it comes to salsa but I love the texture and taste of this salsa. The chips always come out crispy and fresh! We were there at lunch time and the restaurant was not super busy. I'm glad I gave them another try! My husband and I love mexican food and were excited to try this location. I was very pleased with the environment when we walked in. The staff was welcoming and the restaurant was beautiful. I was excited to get seated in a booth immediately on a Friday at around 5. I will also say that the bathrooms were incredibly clean! My husband and I both ordered tacos, but we were disappointed to find out they were out of the Birria tacos. I was shocked because it seemed early enough on a Friday for them to not be running out of items. I ordered chicken tacos and was not impressed. They were very bland and didn't come with much to add to the chicken and tortilla although, the plate was presented beautifully. My husband ordered the fish tacos and while he did enjoy them, they were also quite underwhelming. The service was not exceptional. I had to ask for water multiple times and as I was once a waitress myself, I was always taught water should be served immediately. I also had to remind my waitress 2 times that we had ordered the queso. It didn't come out until we had already received our food. Despite this, the chips and salsa were actually quite tasty and kept us satisfied. The server did bring more chips when we were getting low and was attentive to my soda and my husbands beer. I did feel the waitress could've been more attentive, but she was very kind and cheerful. I feel it's also important to note that the restaurant did not seem to be busy. I was happy to find that for two orders of tacos, a beer, and a soda, the bill was roughly $50, plus a $10 tip. While my husband and I prefer other Mexican restaurants in the area, I am glad we got to experience El Habanero.
