Wow! This place is hidden in the side of gas station parking lot. Don't pull in the parking lot and leave, you won't find a better spot. The inside of the restaurant is cute and welcoming. Our group of five had several different items from the menu. - chicken chimichanga - pollo crema - lime steak tacos - asada taco - pastor burrito - pastor taco The meal started with chips and really good salsa, which they refilled as often as needed. Love it!!! Food has always been outstanding. Service is consistently great. I encourage caution in the parking area as I know of several accidents. OTOH it has consistently been safe from attacks -- I feel safe there. Atmosphere inside is campy and the chandelier is truly unique. read more

Overall, pretty good Tex-Mex here. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great bang for their buck. Large portion for the price and good service. The restaurant is attached to a gas station with another Tex-Mex restaurant right next to the gas station, so can be easy to miss/mix up. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious. The service was very friendly and quick. I went with the steak burrito, which was huge. There was plenty of meat in the burrito, but also some tomatoes and greens, which added a nice flavor to the burrito. Personally, would have liked a little more veggies, so that each bite had a little bit of meat and veggies. The sautéed onions and jalapeños that come with the dish also go well with the burrito. Also, the burrito is not the kind you find that comes smothered in cheese and other sauces for those looking for a more smothered burrito. I have long held firmly to the adage that you will find the best tacos in the most humble of places and Taqueria Hermanos Chavez, a small taqueria located next to a gas station in Tifton, Georgia, substantiates this claim and my belief. The people within the restaurant are extremely friendly and have a strong passing resemblance that I would think they are family. The restaurant inside is not by any means even close to fancy, but again, the best tacos come from humble places. I was brought the standard chips and salsa, which was good, though the salsa was in a small styrofoam cup (again, the best tacos come from himble surroundings). I opted for this lunch to be three tacos, an asada, barbacoa and carnitas and a mini chalupa (with asador). The food was very good, prepared with skill and pride and I would highly recommend a visit here if you find yourself heading up I-75. Oh my gosh, the Yelp reviews helped me find a good dinner near the interstate. It is one of two Mexican restaurants in this strip center, so make sure where you are going. Parking - plenty in front of the restaurant. Service - spotty at best, flagging down the one server who had the entire restaurant was impossible, so i never got silverware and drink refills were intermittent. Food - fantastic flavors, well prepared and some really authentic Mexican options. I will say that presentation was awful, my guacamole resembled a "glop" more than a dish. But the flavors were really excellent, so overlooking presentation was easy. This was one of the best spots to hit on your way to or from North Georgia. read more

This place is a hole in the wall. Kind of a dump-next to a gas station that you wouldn't stop at unless it was the only gas station for 100 miles, in the parking lot of a hotel that also has a Mexican restaurant attached. The taqueria wasn't letting people inside (Covid) so you order at the door and pick up at the window. However, you can see inside, and it ain't pretty. But wow do they make a mean burrito. I got the chicken regular burrito which has lettuce, rice, refried beans, cilantro, cheese and I think peppers. The tortilla is cooked on a well oiled grill (maybe too well because it was greasy) and served stuffed to the gills. They asked me if I wanted shrimp in it too, which was weird, but I said no. Chicken was enough. This was a delicious burrito and I totally get the 4.5 star average. One of those places that isn't much to look at but if you find it you're not disappointed. We were only here because I needed a handheld dinner for a drive to the GA mountains and took a gamble on it. Totally paid off Chips and salsa were disappointing though, hence the 4 stars. Chips were fine-crispy, very lightly salted. But the salsa was watery and tasted too tomato-ie. Needed more spices. Much more. Still, unexpectedly great burrito. read more

But for the ultimate bomb go to the toppings bar and get some of the best pico de gallo ever, or if you need a little heat the pickled vegetables, BRAVO! Holy hell...glad I stopped here. First off, overlook the deceiving exterior. Sometimes you just make do, with whatever facility you can find, in order to open a business. Leave it at that. Now....the freakin' tacos are top notch. No joke; they are flat out good. Filling, full, and flavor. The 3 F's...and affordable. They even served Coke in a glass bottle, so it was nice and cold. Such a surprise. The service was quick, so if you are passing through, and are contemplating some chain drive through; don't do it. Spend 10 more minutes at this local joint, give the owner/cook a thumbs up, leave a nice tip, and head back out on the road, with a full belly and a smile on your face. I'm from California and live in Memphis now w a big Latino community, we came down to Tifton for a wedding and I was scrolling thru Yelp to find a local place to eat lunch at and I saw this place and wanted to see what Tifton calls Mexican food. I knew I was gonna get fed right as soon as I saw the posters on the walls outside the establishment. These are tell tale signs of a hidden treasure. We ordered tacos, two carne asada (steak), 2 lengua (cow tongue), rice and beans, guac, and two Agua frescas and the water of the day was watermelon. We got our drinks first, let me say that it was like literally drinking a perfectly ripe watermelon. Like I stuck a straw in the center of the watermelon and drank it. Delicious! Then we got our guac. When I tried a piece I looked at my boyfriend and dared him to compare it to my prized guac that I make for family gatherings. It was very good. Then we got dem tacos. Let me first say fuck Memphis Mexican food. The asada taco was full of flavor, meaty, filled to the brim w that charred juicy meat. The lengua was chunky, not all chopped up, and tender like eating pieces of delicious fat. Let's not ignore the beautiful corn tortillas that not only held the meat and transported it into my mouth hole, but added to the symphony w its soft, slightly fried and doubled up notes. Do. Not. Miss. This. Place. If you have ANY affinity for Mexican food at all, you have to make this a destination. Take a turn into Bob's quick stop gas station just off I-75. Gas up, then park your car and head for a delightful meal in this little gem of a restaurant! It's on the right-hand corner of the gas station but only shares a wall and a parking lot, nothing more. And make sure you're in the right place and not in the bigger OTHER Mexican place that sits to the left of the gas station - missing THIS for that would be regrettable at best). Hector Chavez owns and runs the place with his brother, I believe he said, and he could not be any nicer or more talented at preparing this food. This place is not fancy, but that's further proof that the best things don't always come in the shiniest packages. Maybe 12 tables altogether, if that, and a salsa bar that takes up a significant amount of space at the center of them (chipotle salsa, salsa verde, avocado salsa, pico de gallo, pickled jalapeños, radishes, and various other goodies to sprinkle, spread & spice up whatever you please). We started with the made-to-order guacamole (delicious, and a lot like how I make it at home - chunky, with tomatoes, onions & cilantro). Chips were fresh and perfectly thin, and though served in a too-small bowl, they were more than happy to bring us all we needed (and from a profit margin perspective, better to refill than risk waste anyway). Cheese dip was thin & good, easy to pour over nearly everything we ate. Salsa was fresh too, very different & very good. After looking over previous Yelp reviews, I had the chicken taco & the lime beef taco, and both were wonderful but I can say with 100% conviction that the chicken was the best taco I've ever had. Flour tortilla with onion, lettuce, cheese, sour cream & cilantro, sounds pedestrian, but don't be fooled - it was other-worldly. They also have tongue, tripe & pork options I didn't try on this go-around. Hub had the burrito bowl, which was a menagerie of the lime steak, poblano peppers, rice, sour cream, chipotle ranch sauce, roasted corn, cheese, zucchini, & tomatoes. At $8, he didn't find he preferred it over the ridiculously good $2.50 tacos I had, but he still thought it was super good. They sometimes have fruit waters on the menu but not tonight - he had tea and I splurged and drank a Coke served in a tall glass bottle just like when I was a kid (only bigger!). I could not bear the thought of leaving all this behind until our next jaunt down the 75 corridor for Florida, so we ordered 4 more tacos & stashed them in the RV fridge for tomorrow's lunch. My Monday just improved by at least 75%. Oh, and the bill? This feast for two at dinner was only $25, just unbeatable for this level of quality AND quantity AND flavor. It was busy and only one person running the front of the house ( waitress, cashier, busboy). She was nice but a little overwhelmed. Needless to say it was quite the wait. My wife ordered the vegan burrito for $4. I ordered the fried rolled taco platter. We started with queso and guacamole. The chips were very greasy and we asked for a new basket. The guacamole was good and the queso was passable. Her vegan taco consisted of tomatoes, onions and lettuce (cooked lettuce?) She didn't even try it. My food came and I had 1 rolled taco. Walked into this non-descript place and suddenly seemed to have entered a local feeding spot in another country. Delicious home style meals at tables around us of raw, generous portions glowing with fresh ingredients. We were immediately attended to with an approachable smile, menus, and a readiness to take drink orders. The nachos came out quickly and they were crisp and fresh. We ended up getting the soft taco specials. You can choose what meat you want and whether you want fresh additions, like lettuce, cilantro, and tomato. We went with the full montey. These things were tasty! All lush rest ingredients. Would especially recommend the asada as the meat filler. The service was fantastic. Two sisters handling tables in the whole restaurant, somehow able to maintain a friendly demeanor and a high level of attentiveness.
