Stopped by the carniceria today to pick up some meat for carne asada tacos. Their meat is always fresh with a variety of cuts available. They also have fish, shrimp, pork, a variety of ribs, marinated chicken, and freshly made carnitas. Their salsas are really good too. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that on Sundays they sell birria de res and birria de chivo. I decided to pass on cooking and get both of the birrias instead. I'm not kidding when I say that they were both so delicious. Tender and seasoned to perfection. My favorite was the chivo! It was the best I've had outside of Mexico. We had carnitas burrito and carnitas torta (mixed pork). Also had 2 kid's quesadilla with Spanish rice. My kids (2 and 6yrs old) devoured their food. The loved the rice (corn bits in it too). Location is humble, family friendly, clean, tasty meals and decently priced. I recommend it. So so tasty! I was in Delano yesterday for work and looking for a new spot. Saw some great reviews on this place so I decided to drop in. The restaurant is now called Taqueria Janitzio the store next door is still called Carniceria Janitzio. I went for a three taco plate with carnitas and chicken tacos. They were delicious, both meats were tender and packed with flavor. Rice and beans were good and the salsa complimented the tacos perfectly. Reasonably priced, came out pretty quick and with all that flavor it was a home run on all counts. This will definitely be a repeat lunch spot for me when I'm in the Delano area. read more

I called to order lunch and posole sounded good on this cold rainy Saturday. The girl was very friendly and helpful and when I asked if they had posole she said "Yes! We have it every day!" We've been coming to this place for years and I never knew this. I was so happy hear that because I love their posole and now we can get it any time, not just weekends like most places. We also got tacos al pastor for my son and a carne asada torta for my hunny. Of course I told them I needed to taste everything for research purposes and I'm happy to tell you guys everything was delicious! They gave us lots of different salsas and some pickled veggies on the side. This condiment addict was super excited to see all those goodies. They were all delicious. Give this place a try if you haven't already. It was clean inside and they're well known for their amazing carnitas. Another day on my taco quest led me to Taqueria Janitzio, not to be confused with the Carniceria next to it as they are both from the same owner. As I walk in I finally feel a hint of an AC unit, really cool and small place with 4-5 tables. As I ordered I was greeted by Mayra, and we talked about the menu. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and asked me about my past experiences in Mexican restaurants. She assured me today would be a great experience. I ordered 4 tacos, 1 tripa, 1 al pastor, 1 buche, and 1 cabeza. To my surprise Mayra made sure my taco de tripas was just the way I like them....a little fried but with chew and softness as opposed to the burnt so called tripas in other places. She also explained why I couldn't get my favorite lengua taco (which had to do with market price of tongue) and to my surprise, I did not miss the lengua taco bc the buche taco was a good or even better. It was soft and chewy with beefy flavor in the back of the palate. The Al Pastor was chunky, which was something that caught me by surprise but in a good way. The meat was tender and the spices and citrusy flavor came through. I'm sure to be back to try something new on the menu, or just to say hi to the ladies at the restaurant. We came here for lunch while waiting for our motorcycle. Not knowing what to expect by the mixed reviews. First of all when we walked in we were not sure if you order then sit since there is a menu up on the wall and a counter, until we were greeted and asked if it was for here or to go. So we took a seat and she gave us menus and took our drink order then brought us chips and salsa. Man they have the best salsa!!! My husband ordered the chili verde and I ordered two mini carne asada tacos. I was amazed how quickly the food came, like 3 minutes!! I know most everything that we ordered is pre-cooked but wow that was fast and the food was so fresh. My husband said his food was really good and my tacos were too. I just placed an order today asking for a torta, a plate of birria, an extra side of beans, and a large drink. Instead of getting the plate of birria they gave me a big container of it with no rice and beans and the birria tasted disgusting. It tasted like it was made days ago. It was literally mostly juice and bone. They gave us another big container of salsa and no chips? Makes no sense. The only thing made right was the torta. We were trying to find a taco truck or something open last month and found this place. It was serving food to go only so we ordered tacos to go. We ordered tacos with Cabeza, al pastor, and asada. We were at a large wedding (400+ people) in Delano that was catered by this restaurant where we ate their Carnitas. They were so good that we went to the restaurant the next day for lunch and had a repeat of the same delicious experience. They prepare them in the traditional way of cooking in Michoacán, Mexico- including the large copper pot made in Michoacán! They duplicate the savory offerings at their McFarland restaurant/store where they make them the same way. We found this restaurant 4 years ago just by chance when traveling to San Fransisco. We asked a local in the car next to us for the best place to eat in town and he led us here. Now we stop here every time we drive through this area. Everything we've ordered has been great, especially the beans...oh so tasty! We've had carne asada tacos, taquitos, and chile verde. If you like chorizo, you've got to try theirs. It's not your standard kind. This one has no grease and is made from scratch by the carniceria next door. Very flavorful! Most recently, we stopped on a Saturday morning and, of course, we had menudo! DELICIOUS! All the locals must agree because throughout the time we were there, at least 10 different people showed up with their pots from home and ordered menudo to take home. It reminded me of growing up in Los Angeles. Now that's a true neighborhood market! The only reason why I don't give them 5 stars is because their bathroom facility could use some improvement. read more

They read it back to you on the phone. They will even read you the order at pickup. But the contents of the burrito will be wrong. How is this possible!!!!
