Yum!! A good kind of different. I personally like the flautas with the red sauce. We will be back!

(Tacos Tapatios Divorciados) muy bueno! So good!

Finally found a spot with some good flautas. Very creamy. The cheese they use is flavorful. Very friendly and welcoming here. Me gustaron mucho las flautas y el queso de las enchiladas. Vienen bien rellenos. Muy amable el servicio.

Old school place. Good service and good food. Takes you back. The way I like. Had a old friend that took me here

Regular tapatios!!! Savory, crunchy, creamy, and refreshing ! Oh i am in love with this delicacy
    Ester P.

Everytime I am in FW, I try to find time to get tapatíos here. It is like flautas on a different level topped with shredded cabbage, sour cream and slice of tomatoes. To lessen the overload creaminess, you gotta enjoy them with three kinds of salsa that are all good. I personally like the deep red pepper ones. Selling by 1/2 dozen to dozen, you get to choose among 3 different kinda: regular, regular with extra salsa loaded on top/more queso! Then the combination of two! This is a small hole in the wall place that only locals know! So pleased to come by after long time! It is a plus if you speak Spanish as servers here didnt really get the order in English lol

Truck is only open at night

This is why I fell in love with tapatios. This elusive truck was the highlight of my drunken nights. My sister introduced me to these after a night of dancing and libations. We needed some delicious food to soak up the dranks before heading home. She had been swooning over the thought of tapatios and I happily agreed. The truck never had consistent hours- it just sort of appears sometime after 830 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and stays until all the drunks have had thier fill of tapatios and tacos. I honestly have no idea if they are there any other time or days- but they are here when I really need them What is a tapatio, you ask? Think of very slender flauta made with corn tortillas and stuffed with shredded beef (desebrada), then smothered in finely shredded cabbage and crema. Toss sliced tomato and jalapenos on the side and everything is good in the world. They can be ordered by the "media" or half dozen- but just get a full dozena and hate yourself later while you cradle your food baby. They have a limited menu at the truck, but I know you can get tacos and maybe a torta there as well. They recently extended the store front hours to stay open as late as the truck- so we tend to just go there so we aren't eating in our cars.

As today is Cinco de Mayo a Margarita was in order and the house pour was lovely. We shared a bottle of California Sauvignon Blanc to accompany the Ceviche Tatemado followed by the Tacos de Barbacoa which is the Tuesday lunch special. Both the ceviche and barbacoa tacos were just so enjoyable. The striped bass and octopus ceviche here is a unique preparation that sings in the tangy lime and Serrano vinaigrette in which it is prepared. The barbacoa is so flavorful and tender; and the thin, house made flour tortilla is fried crispy on the flat top before being filled. So good.

But we always hear people talk about how great Joe T's is so we thought maybe we just an isolated bad experience 15 years ago. But this time, it was even worse. Maybe people don't speak unfavorably out of fear of being shamed for not praising this "institution"? We arrived on a Wednesday at 5:30 so fortunately our unpleasant experience was not further worsened with a wait. The patio is still very beautiful and umbrellas were positioned to provide ample shade. But the fly situation was very annoying and could probably be helped with the spinning devices on tables or fans spread throughout the patios. The beauty of the patio doesn't compensate enough to endure the flies. The service started out good with waters, chips/salsa brought instantly. But within 15 minutes the service rapidly declined as more customers were seated. It was very tedious to the point of annoying to get refills on our drinks. Literally within 2-3 minutes of ordering we asked our waitress to switch one of the fajita orders from chicken to beef. She initially said "oh I'm sorry but I JUST put the order in". We looked puzzled and said "ok then it shouldn't be a problem changing it?" She went on to explain that she would add the beef to our table and just switch the chicken order to another table next to us who ordered chicken that she had not put in yet. All of that sounded very bizarre but the food was correct when it was delivered our table. At the time the plates were brought we requested a side of sour cream but it didn't come. After 5-10 minutes we spotted our server and requested it from her. But we still never got the sour cream. As I was paying the tab my daughter noticed that we were charged for an extra chicken fajita. So even though the server got the beef fajita added right after we ordered, she didn't take the chicken off the bill. She adjusted it once we pointed out the error. The food was the biggest disappointment out of all of it. I will always give grace to sub par service or atmosphere if the food is great. I say this with the utmost sincerity, I've had more flavorful beef and chicken at Chipotle. The chicken was so dry and served in big chunks which made it even tougher to chew. I seriously could not detect a hint of any seasoning, not even salt. It was very hot but not like the traditional sizzling fajita hot, more like it had been sitting in a heating pan or under heat lamps. For way too long. The beef was a tad bit easier to chew than the chicken but just as bland. The queso that we ordered tasted like canned cheese sauce watered down with chicken or vegetable broth and a tablespoon of pico added. The portion sizes of the entrees, the tortillas, the pico, the guacamole were all very generous. It's just a shame that it doesn't taste good.

You order your food at the counter and get a buzzer to come back and pick it up. The staff is friendly enough, but you don't really interact with them much since it's all pretty much self service after you go to the counter. The drink station has cane sugar based sodas; it's a bit heavy on the foam, but otherwise good. We opted for the birria pizza, a couple of cups of pozole, and a side of elote. Everything was solid. The elote was good, not great, but the pozole really hit the spot given how cold it was outside. The birria pizza is what blew me away, though. This was easily one of the most unique, but tasty, things I've ever had. It's not really a pizza, more like a topped quesadilla, but they did a great job of it. I'd not only come back here next time I'm in Fort Worth, I'd be interested in opening a location in Houston if I had the money to franchise it.
