The strawberry Fanta was ice cold and paired perfectly with the burger, especially on a warm Texas day. One of the best parts of the visit was the location. Sitting in the Fort Worth Stockyards adds to the whole experience. These were the worst bbq ribs I have ever had in the entire country. The meat was so dry it was like eating jerky - in a bad way. The fish was also really dry and flavorless. All the sides tasted like they came out of an old can or jar that had been forgotten in a bomb shelter. One taste of the meat put me off, so luckily I didn't each much. We tried out Riscky's at the stockyards as recommended by some friends. We were seated within 5 mins and were promptly greeted by our server. We got our drinks and the food came out pretty quickly. This place is located in Stockyard, a very cool western area. 10/10 for location and atmosphere. The inside is western themed and very cozy. I ordered a Patron Margarita, corn nugget appetizer and a brisket sandwich. My partner got a grilled cheese. The patron marg was very large and good! The brisket was fantastic!!! I also had the pleasure of trying my friends rib and if I came back I would 100% get ribs. The corn nuggets were also perfect. My partner also said the grilled cheese was great. We were in the Stockyards and decided to go to a staple- Riscky's BBQ. We went after the cattle drive for lunch. There were a bunch of people going in at the same time but we were able to get a table right away. We started with the fried pickles which were incredible. Then we split a 3 meat smoker combo. With the combo we got brisket, pulled pork and jalapeño sausage. I loved the brisket and sausage, the pulled pork was missing some flavor. The red beans and potato salad on the side were both delicious, the coleslaw was just okay. We also got a flat iron steak, which was my favorite part, it was delicious. The food is always delicious. The all-you-can-eat beef ribs is my fav and always the item to brag about whenever I bring in out-of-town friends and family. On the weekend, this place is packed. This is not only in a tourist trap area but they do have surprisingly good eats. My wife had a friend in from Pennsylvania and she wanted to see the Longhorns cattle drive that morning, the outside seating here runs right at the head end of the cattle drive in the mornings, it's a great place to sit and watch and have some lunch. My wife had one of the salads, it's a good, for lettuce and dressing. Her friend got the brisket sandwich, the brisket is good, well seasoned, it's a dry rub, add your own sauce to make it wet. I had my usual which had three different meats on it, can't recall the name, but it's good. I really like the fries, they taste good, crispy on exterior, tender inside. The ambience is that of an old saloon that's been in business for 100's of years, the collected dust on the various items along the ceiling and hung on the walls gives some credence to that. Bar area is small, serves beer and does have full bar drinks. This location also has the all you can eat ribs, which I have done before in my younger years. Overall, the basket (without bread) felt a little small, and I was still hungry after finishing. Parking can be a bit tricky since it's a pedestrian area. There's a large lot close by, but it's expensive (around $15 for a few hours). If you're willing to walk about 10/15 minutes, you can find free parking further out. Prices and daily specials are good but they will nickel and dime you in anything you need. All You Can Eat Beef Ribs plate was probably too good to be true at $20, but I had to try. Got four end-bones, and they were tasty, but, you know, they're the ends for a reason, more bone than BBQ, a little dry, crispy, and scrawny. It's all good, though, because all you can eat? Right? no. I stared at those clean bones while I finished my beer, everyone else finished their plate, washed up, and was ready to go. Servers went out of their way, the long way, to avoid our table the entire meal -- felt rude. I finally had to get up to flag one down, and they did bring another plate of ribs, but by then everyone wanted to leave. No to-go, of course. It ain't right. Anyway, the location is unique in the Stockyards, but super noisy outside, quieter inside. Outside will bust your eardrums when the Harleys and trucks drive by to rev up for the sidewalk scene. Reviews are all over the place and I get it. But my score reflects several things. This is a tourist heavy location that constantly gets groups of 20. I've been to the BBQ places near Austin that earned a Michelin star. And no this is not at that level. However, it's pretty darn good if you pick well. I'm going to start by talking about the smoke bologna and cheese appetizer. If you start there you're going to have a good experience. Delicious. All BBQ places need to have some stellar sides. The potato salad is among the best I've ever had. Side note about the straw onion rings. Those were a huge hit among my group. The meat. Well. I sampled the beef ribs and they were just ok. The sliced brisket was better and the shredded or chipped brisket was actually the best of the bunch. I'm not a fan of their BBQ sauce so I didn't put it on the sandwich, and it didn't need it anyway. The smoked turkey was underwhelming and should be avoided. The staff is friend and clearly busting butt. They cover for each other and frequently check on the guests. The beer is cheap and in good quantity. The prices are unexpectedly good, especially for a touristy area. Overall a satisfying experience for my group of mostly visitors. read more

While I understand that a restaurant serving an "all-you-can-eat" dish has to sacrifice some quality in order to justify the sale, this is just ridiculous. These were the driest and toughest ribs that I have ever tasted. The parts that I could take bites out of were bland, dry, and just an unpleasant mouth experience. They tasted as if they had been microwaved 30 times before reaching my table. This meal ended began at around 6:48pm and ended at around 7:30pm. The queso was delicious and tender pieces of brisket in it as well. The wings are buffalo wings, even though I don't think the description says that when you order. Didn't love this place. I got the 3 meat platter and didn't think any of the meats were great. Spicy sausage and brisket were mid. The pork ribs ribs were dry and bland. The seasoned beans were not seasoned. The potato salad had no potatoes in it, it was basically whipped potatoe puree and mayo. I didn't like the one choice of bbq sauce either. Travel Eats- DFW. Went to DFW for AC/DC concert and decided to eat at Riscky's in the Ft Worth Stockyards. My friend wanted their all-you-can-eat beef ribs. Started with two frosty "tall" draft beers. My friend ordered the ribs he wanted with fries on the side. It came with 4 giant beef ribs to start with and then he requested two more orders over the next 30 minutes- for each one they brought him 2 more good sized ribs. I ordered the "Big Boy" sandwich which comes with sliced brisket, pulled pork, and sliced sausage on Texas Toast. Basically it is all three of their sandwiches combined into one and it was DELICIOUS!!!! The bites of meat complemented each other every well. The proportion of each of the meats in each given bite, made for a very unique flavor and texture profile, almost each time. On the table they provided a sweet bbq sauce and a spicy bbq sauce (both greatly complimented the meat). I alternated a douse of each on every bite I took. This sandwich was incredibly good! My friend really enjoyed the ribs, so they must have been delicious too. All in all a great stop before hitting up the AC/DC show! read more

It's impossible to visit the stockyards without enjoying some good ole Texas BBQ! My mother and I were looking forward to it for months. Riscky's was right across from the rodeo, so we gave it a try. When we checked in, we were told it would be a 45 minute wait but only waited 5-7 minutes. This was great! No appetizers ordered because we wanted to save room for all the yummy entree pieces. My mother ordered the all you can eat fried catfish and it was the best thing of the night! I'm usually not one for fried fish, but this was phenomenal. For my meal I chose the 2 meat smoked combo platter. My meats were pulled pork and turkey. The turkey was just ok and the pulled pork was good, but my mother can smoke 2x or more better and we know nothing about Texas BBQ...! The green beans tasted like they were from a can, coleslaw and potato salad were ok. "Toasted bread" was not toasted at all. I would probably order something different but still give my meal a 3/5.
