A FW staple for good Mexican food since 1981 and opened by the late daughter of Joe T. Garcia, Hope. They have a larger menu and separate service counter for To Go bakery & other items. They accept debit/credit cards unlike Joe T's which is a major plus since I don't carry cash. They have parking on both sides of the building. We had a small (approx 15min) wait on a Saturday morning just before 11am. Then they opened their patio and we were able to be seated. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside was packed. Parties of all sizes - 1 person to several tables of 10+.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I believe you can make reservations for larger parties. We were immediately brought complimentary chips (yummy thin & not salty), delicious salsa (splash above mild spice level), & waters. Our waitress was very friendly, attentive, & prompt. We got HUEVOS CON JAMON (eggs & ham) and HUEVOS CON TOCINO (egg & bacon). You also get two tortillas and your choice or flour or corn. Both meals were very good and we couldn't finish them we were so full. (May have had something to do with indulging in the chips & salsa). Breakfast plates are served with their simple delicious refried beans and breakfast potatoes. There's an interesting backstory on this restaurant. Owned by Joe T. Garcia's which I wasn't overly impressed with. But, I chose Esperanza's on a recent Fort Worth vacation because they have more menu items that their sister restaurant. Last visit over 10 years ago; went back for the Mole Enchiladas I had from 2012. Yet, this still isn't a menu item. You can get every other sauce on Enchiladas in the know Mexican cuisine except this combination. Yet, they are happy to oblige instead of the traditional mole covered Chicken bits. Ask for it smothered with Monterrey Jack instead of Cheddar if you take my advice. Rice and beans are good; add the salso to the beans. She had the colorful Tortilla Soup with optional ingredients adorning the large plate. Service was polite and attentive. Esperanza's is a go-to treat for us! It's a bit far from my main stomping grounds, but if I find myself in the area, we must have pancakes and Migas! The portion sizes are amazing, always end up with to go boxes. My husband is Mexican and he is constantly trying to figure out the bean ingredients. Service is always with a smile! My family and I have been dining at Esparanza's for decades. Breakfast is our go to. Honestly just stepping foot in the restaurant brings back so many memories. The smell from the bakery to the delicious food. There is something being served that's going to leave you with a lasting memory. We visited the stockyards this past weekend 5/24/25 and came here for breakfast after seeing this place on Yelp and TikTok. I had high hopes but was totally disappointed. We ordered a small menudo (real fatty and greasy) I had to remove to big chunks of pansa full of fat from my bowl, and three breakfast tacos. One chorizo and egg, one potato and egg with bacon and one chicharron (crispy) with egg). All were lukewarm warm and nothing fancy. The chicharron had a burnt oil taste and the potato and egg had not taste like the potato's were boiled. To top it off the tacos were $6.50 EACH and it was $3.50 to add bacon so my one taco with three ingredients was $10. Give me a break. Tortillas were homemade but nothing fancy. Service was ok. Anyone remember ElPaso frozen dinner, I think they popped it out and reheated it. The Gordita was decent but should be called a Gordita. We came here after watching the longhorn cattle drive at the Stockyards; with a fairly large group of 7, we were worried about being sat (indoors with the AC for sure lol). There wasn't any issue & they sat us immediately, which was a nice surprise. Our server was also excellent: attentive, funny, & just seemed like a really nice guy. We each ordered a drink, I got a piña colada. The cocktails mostly came in huge goblet glasses, which was awesome, especially for the price! They were really tasty & refreshing. Each of us also got a little dish of salsa & then baskets of chips for the table, which is how you can tell this was going to be a bomb meal. I got Huevos rancheros & this was seriously some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. The eggs were fresh, the refried beans were just incredible, & the potatoes were delicious. We all ate ourselves into a food coma because it was all so good that we couldn't help it lol. Toward the end of the meal, we also got 2 tortilla warmers full of fresh tortillas, which we ended up taking home because they were so so good. So here's the deal, we were have my a 4 star experience until the food came. Our service was great until the food came, then the server disappeared until it was time for the check. We had to flag someone down for a to go box after several minutes of searching for the server. The migas, which I have had before but it's been years was very disappointing. The flavors were good as far as seasoning but there was no egg, like literally no egg. It was a pile of tortilla chips with some shredded chicken and cheese melted on top. The potatoes were excellent and the refried beans were good. The salsa given with the chips at the beginning of the meal was fresh and flavorful. The tortillas served with lunch were fresh and homemade, both corn and flour. I felt bad that one of our guests ordered the migas based on our recommendation. My partner ordered the Uno combination and a Tamal, his food was alright.We also ordered the queso con carne, I would probably skip it. Our waiter was nice and prompt with our order. Stopped by today for lunch, they brought us a water, we asked for a straw and was told we are out of straws. We don't like drinking from glasses from restaurants, most people don't. 50% of the tables had straws. So WTF, maybe because we are white people. A table of 12 sat next to us and everyone got a straw. I really think they are anti white to us customers, that table for 12 was Hispanic. I know this is petty to complain about but give us a freaking straw, we saw several other wait staff with 30 to 50 straws in their aprons. I will not go back to eat here. So then they decided to move to Park Place and here recently their menu prices are through the roof. We have been customers for 42 years but after last weeks visit, we will no longer be eating at their restaurant. Our waiter brought out our food before the chips and salsa. We got our silver ware after. We have been priced out with the bad service. We have always loved the flour tortillas but we have found them elsewhere. Took a look at the menu and could decide what to get. We landed on a few different menu items: barbacoa tacos, caldo de res, menudo, and caldo de pollo. They put a lot of meat in the tacos. You could easily make 2-3 tacos if you split the meat up. The caldo de res was way better tasting than the caldo de pollo. I would spend the few extra bucks for de res. The menudo was DELICIOUS! It's definitely a must. Food was priced reasonably for the portion sizes. My only complaint was the service. A little slow especially since there wasn't a crowd. This place is not for looks either. You come here expecting good, flavorful food and not really for the ambience. Also if you're looking for Tex- mex this probably isn't your place. Not sure what people rave about this place. Apparently, they have not had good Mexican food. Ordered menudo today for Breakfast. It was actually a bowl of fat, they didn't seem to trim any of the fat off the beef tripe. Was a bowl of grease floating on the top, at least 1/4 Inch of grease floating. It was disgusting. I sent it back and requested a bowl of caldo de rez. You would of thought that the menudo was bad, this was just as bad. Floating thick grease floating on top. It was not good. Did not taste good. Came ho.e with the little that I ate very nauseous. Look for some other place to eat. By the way, the backery bread is also least to be desired if you know anything of what good Mexican Bread should taste like.
