Very refreshing on a hot day, and generous portions of watermelon! - elote: one of the better ones I've had and not too heavy on the mayo. The food truck has a nice covered eating area outside, too. Overall would definitely come back.. especially tempted by the masapan shake!

Sometimes in Mexico when you crave a snack, you go to the nearest frutería. A frutería is a place…read morewhere you can get a variety of foods that are often corn-based or fruit-based. In Austin, Frutería Las Mazorcas is a great spot to check out if you're looking for an authentic frutería experience. There's wide variety of things to choose from such as: - Agua Fresca de Limon y Pepino: Lime & Cucumber juice, topped off with gummy sour straws, cucumber, tamarind candy, and a tamarind rim with chili powder - Agua Fresca de Piña: Pineapple juice topped off with gummy rainbow strips, pineapple, and a tamarind rim with chili powder - Rusa en Cantarito: clay jar filled with various juices and topped off with a variety of fruit - Fresonada: frozen strawberry with beverage with chamoy and Tajin seasoning. (Similar to a mangonada, but with strawberry as the base) - Fruit in a cup: usually comes with fruits like mango, pineapple, cantaloupe, watermelon, cucumber, and is topped off with chili powder. - Fresas con Crema: cut up strawberries in a strawberry yogurt base - Oreo Milkshake - Elote de Doritos: Corn on the cob dipped in crushed Doritos - Nachos with Jalapeño and Cheese The best part? There's plenty of items not mentioned here! Different flavors of agua frescas, ice cream, corn in a cup, and more. My thoughts overall? I admired the creativity and uniqueness here. Taking authentic snacks that you find in Mexico in addition to putting a fun spin to them such as the gummy toppings on the agua frescas or the Doritos on the corn. Kudos there. The food tastes great too. I recommend getting a fruit base snack and a corn one. Great contrast of having salty and savory to sweet and refreshing. Can't go wrong with anything here, but if I had to suggest I say try an Agua Fresca with a fruit flavor of your choice and get the corn on the cob with Doritos or Cheetos! All in all, I highly suggest y'all come try them out! Great service and great food at a great price. Highly satisfied with my visit!

I love that El Comalito chose aesthetic and targeting the Texas meat-loving foodies as that differentiator amongst taco trucks in the area. As you can see the tortilla colors are a nice surprise, but it's a really nice homemade take that I'd come back for. My husband and I got breakfast tacos and both types had brisket. The flavors were a traditional take but I loved it! The salsa was also a complimentary touch of flavor. The value is really great. 4 breakfast tacos for $18. You get a hefty portion compared to the usual lean breakfast tacos that other trucks serve. The menu is simple but thoughtfully creative. We are already looking forward to coming back to try the quesabirria, chilaquiles, ramen birria (?!!!) I love the feeling of a warm family doing something together. This makes me want ro support small businesses who enjoy their weekends nurturing something they love to do which is make good food. Please try it!!

My wife and I both got the migas taco - which included a healthy heaping of barbacoa. One on corn, one on flour. As both tortillas were hand made, both were excellent. That said, the corn tortilla stole the show. That is what will make me come back. Too few places make their own corn tortillas, and even fewer make them this well. Location: - not enough going on in SE Austin. This is a gem. Ambience: - food park has a variety of choices. For breakfast, can't beat this place + coffee from Cenizo Value: - the serving size is generous and the quality is high. Service: - a highlight. Fast and friendly. I highly recommend El Comalito and can't wait to go back for chilaquiles.
