    Slinging out great tacos fast
    Stephen D.

So good, I went twice on a short trip to Austin. If heaven had a taco spot, this place would be on the list. I could eat here everyday if I lived in Austin. Every part of the experience, from the speakeasy feel to enter, to the ordering process to the food- fantastic! Every taco was delicious so it's a matter of personal opinion. Also, flour and corn were both incredible for the tortilla shells- definitely up to your preference.

(4.5 stars) The best way to describe this joint is as a taco reverse speakeasy. Go down an alleyway, enter a bar, and pass through a door with a tacos sign, and you'll find a bustling taqueria that slings some of the best tacos in town. Tortillas are homemade, and pastor is cooked on a trompo. Don't feel like a taco? You can also snag a quesadilla or tostada-like volcanes. There are several salsa options, and drinks include Mexican Cokes and horchata, among others. We ended up getting two tacos (pastor and carne asada), a nopales quesadilla, and an order of chips and guac. At $5 to $6 a taco, this wasn't cheap despite the no-frills surroundings, but it was well worth it. Everything looked and tasted fresh and smelled amazing. D/10 is known for its pastor, and it's easy to see why. Served in strips rather than chunks, it boasts a crisp edge and a nice bit of pineapple flavor. However, the asada, the salsa crema, and even the chips are all stellar here. While seating may be hard to come by, on food alone, Taqueria de Diez is a solid ten.

I ordered the steak burrito and it was promptly delivered after ordering even though the restaurant was very busy. It was huge and worth the price. There's a bar connected with the restaurant as well if you want shots. There's plenty of room for seating and standing while you eat.

Some of the best tacos in Austin hands down. Super cool speakeasy vibe with quick service and MASSIVE tacos/quesadillas. Smoky complex flavors are sure to wow any guests. Certainly worth a visit. If you've been to tacos #1 in NYC, it's basically a 1 for 1 version of that, which is a good thing.

Who would've thought that a taqueria tucked away in an unassuming alley would have some of the best tacos in Austin? The first thing you'll see when entering is a bar. Go through another door, and you'll find a small dining area and a hallway with a sign showing you where to order. After you place your order, they'll give you a ticket. Be sure to hand the ticket to one of the cooks; otherwise you won't get your food. We got the carne asada tacos, adobada (pastor) taco, and carne asada volcan. Everything was seriously delicious, rich, and flavorful. The meat was juicy and tender, and they were very generous with the portions. If all the seats inside are taken inside the restaurant, you can dine in the bar area or outside in the alley. This taco speakeasy spot is so good, we came back the next day with our friends. We will definitely be back in the future!

Really cool taco speakeasy spot! My friends and I stopped by for lunch, and it was fairly easy to find (due to their flashing TACO sign lol) and the line wasn't too bad. They're known for their adobada/al pastor tacos, but I actually thought their carne asada was the standout. The tacos were very flavorful and juicy. Perfect for a quick snack. I also really liked their branding and ambience inside. Would definitely come back!

I have lived in Texas for over 24 years now, and this is the best taco place in state! I got the pastor burrito with cheese and guac. They grill the cheese onto the tortilla and it's amazinggg. The rice and beans amazing. The salsa amazing (has a good kick). Seating can be tricky but worth it!!

Food is unbelievable. It's great. We tried a little of all and had no regret. Great service.

If you have the opportunity to checkout this alleyway taco spot (ain't nothing sketchy, I promise) and soon discover this is a speakeasy spot for tacos and not cocktails. I've been before during a late night pit spot, but I recently had the opportunity to go for lunch. The line was so effective and moved very efficiently. I appreciated how one person took your order, a second grabbed your order ticket, and they had a full lineup of chefs/cooks executing each station. The feature quesadillas, tacos, burritos and a few sides for you to dig into. Whether you're planning to eat on-site at their tables, grab a standing spot in the alleyway, or taking them to go, you'll be in for one amazing meal. I really love their salsa stations and ample amount of toppings. This is very much an authentic feel to a taqueria you'd come across in Mexico so that was cool.

Hidden in a dim alley, this spot is easy to miss, aside from the glowing neon "Tacos Open Late" sign that hints you are at the right place. We stopped by after a local friend's recommendation. Once you pass the bouncer (yes, there's a bouncer) and the bar, the contrast from outside to inside is striking. The room is tightly packed with people either lined up to order or already digging into their tacos. We ordered the Al pastor and carne asada tacos on corn (3.5/5) and the Al pastor quesadillas (5/5). I appreciate that the tortillas are made in house and the Al pastor came with generous chunks of pineapples that added perfect touch of sweetness. Overall, a great late night spot with solid food and fun atmosphere, but good luck finding seats!

This place is always busy but we I got there just in time for only about 10 people ahead of me. Ordering style is different you order at the counter first and then you are givin a paper with your order on it and then you wait in line to give to a cook that will freshly make your tacos to order and the different sauces are also great because you get to fill up on as much salsa as you want so you can try different salsas on your tacos. The tacos come out piping hot and flavors that will explode in your mouth. Definitely recommend when you are craving some tacos ! Just be patient because there will be a line.

These are the best tacos ever. At least in Austin. They are amazing. I've lived in SoCal and Norcal for years, I've also done some time in Mexico. These tacos hit the spot. there tends to be a line but it goes by quick and worth it, limited seating they also do have a location on South Lamar too! Amazing! So worth it!!

Nestled in the corner of a dark alley, lies a small taco shop that looks like it's in the back of a bar and you can only tell it's a taco shop by the illuminating sign in the front that reads "Tacos open late" When we arrived, by what seemed like an accident, there was a security guy outside and a line that was forming with about two people in it. I think we beat the rush because it started forming quickly behind us. To the point that when we left the lines was all the way down the alley. Anyway, they quickly allowed us to go in and follow the line which moved fairly quickly. The place had seating in different areas and they all seemed to but full. However, if you stand around you can quickly take someone else's spot when they leave. I decided to try several different tacos, so I went with a carne asada, al pastor, chicken and a mixed asada and pastor taco (campechano: your choice of two meats). I also got a Jamaica to wet the whistle. Overall the food was good and I would say my favorite was probably the Al pastor with the pineapples. That mix is legendary and they got it right with the thick chunks of pineapple. The size of the tacos are a decent size so four tacos was more than enough. Even though I'm from Oxnard, California and I feel wee have some of the best Mexican food, I would def come back to try some of their other options. OOOO 4 out of 5 Afros

I ordered the grilled steak taco, rotisserie chicken taco and special taco of the week (pork dumpling smash taco). We also ordered the elote and queso to share. The elote was good, but very creamy and a bit heavy. The queso was good but tbh I prefer Torchy's. The grilled steak taco was a bit underwhelming, I wanted it to have more flavor, it just tasted like beef and cheese. The chicken had good flavor and the special weekly taco was enjoyable and interesting, not like any taco I have had before. There is plenty of variety for people including those with dietary restrictions. My friends ordered two tacos each and I was full after 3 tacos so if you are not a big eater stick with two.
